I have this Bible and I absolutely love it! It is such a very beautiful Bible--I really like the raised hubs. They even feel good in the hand. One thing I didn't expect is just how much space in the margins to write notes, quotes and just whatever. I have had probably 100 or more Bibles and this is one of my very favorites. Great for reading and the goatskin is awesome. This is definitely one of the best Bibles I have ever had. Love it !
The brown is similar but the texture of the leather and overall feel of the cover is a bit different. This one has a more roughed feel, the MacArthur a more smooth feel, at least for the copies I have. The MacArthur feels a bit more premium, even though I normally prefer a more pronounced grain. @@Giancarlo_1997 Yes, still premium for sure. Not the high end of premium Bibles like a Schuyler or an Allan, but a very good Bible (the brown one). The one with a black cover is also a premium Bible, but for me the quality not as good. The cover is a bit thin and too flexible. To me it doesn't look great. Some people absolutely love it, so it's really up to you. If raised hubs are not important for you and you like flexible covers, that's the way to go. It comes down to your preference and Bible study methods. Both are amazing Bibles and you cannot go wrong with any of them in my opinion. But for study I would go with the Verse-by-Verse. Both have the complete set of Bible references from Thomas Nelson (over 72,000). I hope this helps. Blessings!

Hey brother, this is the one you are asking about: NKJV Thinline Reference Bible in Brown Goatskin, see link in the description of the video: th-cam.com/video/NEaFkv4ZzJc/w-d-xo.html
Hi Ps. Gouveia: I’m surprised to see how much you can write on your Bible at 14:45. The thinline has the same kind of paper with the single-column, I believe? I've got the single-column, but when I tried writing on it with pencil, I found the paper’s just so delicate that the pressure mark could be felt through several sheets and at one point I almost tore through the page. That really stopped me from writing on this Bible. Do you kind of float through the paper as you write?
Hi, thank you so much for watching and commenting! You are correct, the thinline does have the same paper as the single-column (36 GSM). I don't write in my Bible with pencil, I use colored pencils to underline (Caran d'Ache) and I don't need to make much pressure on the paper. I write with Micron Pens that do not bleed through and I don't need to make any pressure on the paper with those. In my experience, any Bible paper that you underline/mark will look different and will present some minor wrinkles giving the Bible a look that I actually love, the look of a Bible that has been well used by someone who has spent time in the Word of God :) But I find it strange that you found this paper to be so delicate. That has not been my experience. What are the pencils that you are using? Do you need to make a lot of pressure do write? 36 GSM paper for me is very close to ideal, so I'm really surprised!
Noted on your writing instruments 😊👌 I use a 0.5 mechanical pencil, been using the same one on my other Bibles, including ESV Thinline and CSB Ultrathin, but this is the first time I experience this horror 😆 Maybe I should experiment more on the back pages to see how various instruments work on this particular Bible. Thanks much!
Hi there! Thanks for watching and commenting. Yes, to me there is definitely a very noticeable difference. I love the Schuyler Bibles, and my main Bible is a Schuyler Quentel NKJV, regular size, with 28 GSM. I've gotten used to it, even though in the beginning the thinness of the paper bothered me a bit. The 36 GSM paper by Thomas Nelson is great. I really love it and if the only thing I was looking at was paper, I would probably go with 36 GSM. The pages are easier to turn and it is slightly more opaque. I hope this helps!
The space between the spine cover and the text block is supposed to be like that or else it wouldn't lay flat. Actual bound books will always have that space, rather than a glue-bound book like paper back books.

The reason it is less expensive is because, unlike Schyuler and RL Allan Bibles, these are printed in China. Knowing how oppressive the Chinese government is towards, among many others, the Christians, I struggle with buying a Bible made there.
The thinner Bible is the NKJV Thinline Premier Collection in Brown Goatskin. It features a double column format and has smaller margins. The thicker Bible (the one I reviewed in this video) is a single-column format, it has the full set of the NKJV translation notes and cross-references (the thinline has less) and more margin space overall. I reviewed the thinline as well. See my review here: th-cam.com/video/NEaFkv4ZzJc/w-d-xo.html Both are awesome Bibles. I hope this helps ☝️
Good music ! I wish more people would do the same. Really excellent review. I've had my eye on this for some time but you are the first video review I've seen--Looks like I'm going to have to buy it.
If I were to get a single column reference Bible I think this would be it but I would still be interested to know what the font size is seems like the FONT could be bigger on a single column reference but I guess the margins with the references and such take up a lot of space but it does offset and make the printed part very nice to look at and probably easier to read so I will watch the last of your video now to see what else you have to say. I'll learn from Randy Brown that the whitespace also helps in the reading of the text so I'm also looking at that and not just the Cambridge bold and dark print which is probably the best in the business so I'm trying to look at other things so I can buy something other than a Cambridge Bible which I've been doing lately mostly from Nelson and from Amazon.
Hi dear Fernando, thank you for watching this video and commenting. Yes, I do generally prefer the NKJV over all other English translations. Mainly it's a question of preference. This being said, I normally compare several translations when studying a passage. There are many passages that I prefer in other translations. I consider the CSB a great translation and use it frequently. It is based on the critical text (earlier manuscripts), and the NKJV basically follows the Textus Receptus. I grew up in Portugal and the translations I used for most of my life are based in the Majority Text. The NKJV has excellent translation notes that help you to see where the Critical Text has a different wording, or omits certain passages. I find that very interesting and helpful. Here are my 2 cents. I hope this helps :)
Thank you. I am a former Catholic priest now married. I am grateful for my past life and also for discovering the grace of Protestant theology, especially Barth and Luther. My wife and I are still searching for a church community.
@@FernandoSerna1654 Praise the Lord! He is guiding you for sure. I'm Portuguese born and raised. Most of my family is Catholic. My dad was in the seminary and would have become a Catholic priest but life took a different route. I know many Catholics that are wonderful people and normally, when they discover the biblical truths of the Gospel, they become very committed born again Christians. I personally am a Seventh-day Adventist Christian. I'm an ordained Pastor and I live and minister in Fresno, CA. Where are you located my brother?
@@crucified4me So, I purchased the NKJV Deluxe Reader's Edition (Blue Hardcover), nice edition, but as far as aesthetics, its nothing compared to the NKJV Single Column Reference Bible. I just wish that Nelson would produce a NKJV Single Column without references edition, like the NIV Single Column Heritage Bible. It would be the perfect bible!
Great review and love this Bible. I just ordered one and this will be my first premium Bible in my collection of bibles. In Singapore we don’t have the luxury of having such premium bibles in our market. For this single column reference bible, I only managed to find the genuine leather one in one of the Christian bookstores. So when I saw this goat skin online and from your review, I screamed to myself “ I really want one of these!!! I must get it!!” So I went ahead to order one from book depository at SGD171. And yes I do agree with you that the only downside of this Bible is the verse numbers, they’re like trying to hide from you. Staying so close to the texts, especially the number 11! Heard that you’re gonna highlight them, that sounds like a great idea to get over this issue, because our church sermons always would quote many verses and sometimes the preacher would go quite fast. So do you have any suggestions to highlight in such a way that won’t destroy the beautiful layout of the texts?
Hi dear friend and thank you so much for watching and commenting! Yes, this is a gorgeous Bible. About highlighting the verse numbers it depends on your sensitivity to having different colors in your Bible and on how far you are willing to go in marking your Bible. I would probably use color pencils in case I wanted to keep the Bible looking as clean as possible. This being said, I personally mark my Bibles a lot and they get really busy with different colors. You can see kinda of what I do in this video: th-cam.com/video/C0kVLcPH3Tg/w-d-xo.html
crucified4me ... thank you so much for your suggestion on highlighting and wow, like the way you highlighted your bible. I do some highlighting and note taking in my bibles but low quality bible papers always get on my nerves. Anyways, when I get this NKJV SCR, I’ll be at ease to highlight and write on it due to it’s 36 gsm bible paper. Thanks again and by the way, I’m not a Seventh Day Adventist, but I believe in keeping the Sabbath as a pre requisite to salvation, including baptism in the Name of Jesus and receiving the Holy Spirit, evidenced by the speaking in tongues. God bless you and hope to see more of your great bible reviews.
@@blsingal3637 Thank you so much my friend! May God bless you and guide you everyday with His powerful Word 🤗 What a wonderful Savior we have in Jesus 🙏🏽
crucified4me Amen. If you happened to have highlighted the verse numbers in your NKJV SCR, could you take a video or just a snapshot for my reference? Thanks again and by the way my name is Brian. God bless.
@@blsingal3637 Hi Brian, I never underlined or highlighted this Bible. When I use it it's mainly for reading. I have some Bibles where I write a lot and others that remain untouched by any pens, this is one of them ;)
Hi dear Charles, I think that in the Premier Collection the second generation of Bibles (Thinline in brown goatskin, this one, the VBV and the MacArthur Study Bible) are pretty comparable in terms of quality. The VBV Center Column Reference Bible is considered by some the best one. I don't know if I agree with that since the others are pretty awesome as well, each one is strong on their own with its unique features. In terms of binding (purely) the MacArthur for me beats the others. This being said, the VBV is definitely special and the cover is softer (only in Black). The VBV is red letter and has a classical layout. It depends on your taste and preferences. About the durability, these Bibles have the potential to last you a lifetime and yes, even to be handed down to your child (that's such a great purpose for a Bible). Here again, it really depends on the way you use it. I have non-premium Bibles that are in a good condition, even though I use them a lot. I very rarely "destroy" a Bible with use. It gets beat up for sure but I can still use it. With premiums they take the beating much better and the binding and paper still looks great after underlining, marking, carrying and using them a lot. This particular Bible is a bit thick (that would be my only concern if I had to choose only one in the Premier Collection), but the layout of the text is amazingly beautiful. This Bible may be worth a lot of money one day if they go out of print. It may also be worth something even greater than money if you use it a lot and give it to someone you love. Just a few thoughts, hope this helps :) Blessings!
@@crucified4me I don't even know what to say back. That was so insightful and amazing to read. I hope to one day have your vast holy knowledge. Thank you so much and god bless you.

I don't understand how this has the full preface and the VBV doesn't
Pastor, do you prefer the NKJV translation over the CSB? If so, why? Thanks very much.
I hope this helps :)
crucified4me I appreciate your answer! Blessings to you!
Where are you located my brother?
crucified4me Thanks for sharing that. We live in Portland, OR where I work/minister as a hospital chaplain. Let me know if you are ever up here.
The red highlights littered throughout the text is a deal breaker for me. I found it too distracting while reading. Otherwise, very nice NKJV edition.
Have you tried the NKJV Readers Edition by Thomas Nelson? I don’t have it but it seems to have very little distractions... Thank you for watching 👍
Seems like no lying flat on this Bible and also no gutter space so I don't think I would be interested in this one in particular.
I have some Bibles where I write a lot and others that remain untouched by any pens, this is one of them ;)
References that are too small to read end up in being a no reference Bible.
Nice bible but your steep discount makes me envious Grrrr. lol.
crossnote lol! Thank you for watching and commenting 🤗 Yes, that was an awesome price 🙏🏽
Would you say from the overall collection this one is the best quality? Also would it have the longevity to be handed down to my son?
@@charlesj.murphy51 I'm actually learning here but happy to share the little I know ;) Blessings brother!
Is this a thinline ? Anyone know
No, it is not a thinline, it's pretty thick. Thomas Nelson has a thinline edition in the Premier Collection that appears in this video as comparison. It's actually under the Single Column on the Thumbnail as well. Thanks for watching. See my review of the thinline here: th-cam.com/video/NEaFkv4ZzJc/w-d-xo.html
@@crucified4me thank you
