The overall shape (body/headstock) of Spector basses HAS TO BE the sexiest shape of all bass guitar builders/manufacturers. I just wish they'd use their 4-string h/stock shape on their 5-string models. Anyone know why they don't? I don't see why not, as there's PLENTY of room for the extra tuning key. And, I might add, the old, original Hazlab preamps are the shit, too.
I love my Spectors. I'm a finger player, so I like the sound it gives, but............ if I played with a pick, I'd take the musicman that was a great pick tone.
I own 3 Spector Euro 4 lx basses, and one euro five string, but my 79 fender P bass with active emg's is a game changer. Blows people's mind everytime I play out.
It's the active EMG's at that point. The host bass not really mattering so much, people don't think of the "Fender" P bass sound as active EMG's usually. I recently bought an Euro LX, and replaced the Tonepump with an Auderes Classic. What preamp do you have in that Fender?
Agree ..3 way tie ! Depending on what mood or vibe your feeling. These are without a doubt the top 3 most respected Bass tones in rock and top 3 most sought POPULAR basses by rock players worldwide. Yes there are other awsome basses and tones out there though these are definitely the TOP 3 most sought after I think. Among many others.. If I had to give choices for runner ups I would say Thunderbirds + Early 80s Bernie Rico era BC Rich basses. Anyone feel differently ?
honestly its almost impossible to say what is better at the end of the day it always depends on what your style is and the sound you prefer.. I am a spector guy though, because i like the design as much as I like how it's not overrated as a brand, and of course Spector offers such a variety of tones that mixes well with heavy shit :) sort of like a warwick but deeper sounding.
I would have all 3 because all different so much different not one better just different. I currently have 1) StingRay 5 2) Fender Jazz 5 the next two axes will be a Precision 4 and a USA Bolt on Spector 5
Everything sounds just like it should : )... Love every one of these basses. I own a Sterling Ray34Ca and just cant get enough of it's tone, but once again Fender just has this classic vibe, one day I will own one : )
I owned Spector Euro, great lookin and soundin bass. Only problem was extremely neck diving. So I sold it and buy Fender Jazz but Spector is still missing.
I like spector more than the others, but in the end they all sounds great.
It's a three-way tie. You can't go wrong with any of those basses.
Bubba Zed personally I would go for the Spector and fender, but not the music man.
Spectors normally sound better than that. But I still prefer the Spector, I have two and intend to buy more.
which Spector do you have, if I may ask?
Might be mic cause usually love kramer era spectors too.. my only question is l80 haz?

Constructive Critique they do; the MK5 uses the paddle headstock on a 5 string
This is an old comment for sure, but if you're still looking... The Pulse 5 and Pulse 2 5 are great basses that have that headstock!
Spector all time for me
Amén

They are all great...for me I'd say 1) Spector,2) Music Man, 3)Fender.. Very subjectivve though

Its Spector for me. All 3 though are good to have in your bass arsenal.
Spector!!!! hands down!!!
1) Spector 2) Music Man 3) Fender
Tengo un Spector Euro5LX...lo maximo!!!!!....
The Fender Precision Bass all day fory money but I completely understand the appeal of the Spector. Good demo.
The pick style best suited the MM and the Spector is always punchier.
Agree ..3 way tie !

The Fender wins by a long shot in my opinion. Love P-Basses.

All good basses but Spector rules!!
Spector this is more bright, its awesome.
Great demo! Thanks for uploading!👍
Spector, MM, Fender in this demo.

What strings are you using on your spector? Curious as when I replaced strings I lost that quality rounded sound.
Spector por lejos
Came in wanting a Spector win but I ended up preferring the Stingray.
Precision - bass, Spector and Music man - treble. No treble! :-)
Spector, music man and then fender IMO
that fender all day.
musicman es el mas equilibrado, fender es el mas limpio y spector es el bajo con mas tono en el mundo
On this demonstration, the Music Man is almost a mixture of the Fender and Spector. I love them all, but in the end I choose Music Man.
0:42 1:05
love musicman tone!
Man your signal was peaking. They where all already distorted
spector wins
fender marca diferencia, Spector y music man muy similiares en su sonido
Fender had best overall tone
Music Man then Spector then Fender
Everything sounds just like it should : )... Love every one of these basses.

Just an update... 2 years later - I own a modded Jazz Bass now with Quarter Pound Pickups from SD. Man oh man.
Who ever thinks 3 tuning keys on one side of the headstock and 1 on the other looks good, need to have your eyes examined
...guess i need to get my eyes examined
I agree, haven't been a fan of that look

spector
Spector Wins
