Great video. col to see actual fighters. Really cool!
I know! Very charitable people. ❤️
It really depends on what wildland firefighters you ask. If you talk to district and engine crew members (usually Type II firefighters), they are more likely to be wearing cheaper boots. Talk to a hotshot crew or jumpers or rappellers are you will mostly see the traditional loggers from Whites, Nicks, JK, Franks, Drews. The hiker style boots have gotten more popular in recent years, but they simply don't last as long. Folks who spend 1000+ hours per year on the fireline know it's worth taking the time to break in heavy boots. Folks who spend more time on concrete in their season will opt for immediate comfort.
Appreciate ya chiming in mate!! 🥾🥾
Do you mean structural firefighters versus wildland?
One of my first boots were Danner 8 inch Quarry . I still have them. Awesome boots for outdoor work.
Right on, I'll have to google a pic of the one. I am actually surprised I haven't got any Danner on the channel yet.. In the future!
I've gone thru 4 pairs of quarry's so I'm gonna try the Flashpoints
I can’t imagine buying the Danner’s over the other PNW offerings, but the professionals are the ones doing it, and I’m no woodland firefighter, so what do I know?
Agreed! We will certainly try to get a larger study next time but who knows maybe they haven’t committed to pulling the trigger on better boots. I know mechanics that use craftsman over snap on and contractors that use Ryobi over Milwaukee 🤷♂️
I did wildland firefighting and we were told it’s better to buy whites, nicks or franks. The custom made boots will always last longer and worth the price in comfort and quality.
@@crosspointholsters1636 That's solid advice for sure!
My brother is firefighter. He prefers the the Danners for break in
@@Dukeofmamucasthat’s funny my whites broke in way easier than my Danner flashpoints. I had thorogood tactical style fire boots that were fantastic. I prefer the whites now, after break in they feel so much better.
Good stuff.
More coming down the pipe, thanks for commenting! 🥾🥾
Very nice!
You guys rocked it out in this one!
@@GentlemansJourney There are 1 or 2 pairs of Nicks out there in wildland fire 😌
Danner Flashpoint are made with 7 oz leather . The difference between Whites Ida the Danners have a steel shank and a heavy rubber midsole
Thanks for watching! I had to run over to Danner’s website and learn myself a bit about their fire boots after hearing from these guys that they run Danner.
I am a wildland firefighter with CalFire/Rattlesnake (National Guard) and I wear danners.
They are not bad, we’re mostly broken in day one, but if I have too many fires in a week (even after the break in) I get blisters.
I don’t like the look of the danners and I really like the look of the original Whites, but I hear that Franks are a better version of the same boot.
They don’t feel right though when I try them on.
I’m willing to pay whatever to get my last pair of outdoor boots.
I think you’d do good over at Franks!
@@GentlemansJourney thank you
WOW That Was Surprising
About The Difference in Boots & Kinds & I was REALLY SUPRISED At How Many Women There Are Out There in The Wild Doing A HARD DANGEROUS JOB OF FIRE FIGHTING & MOP UP After Wards & That's LITERALLY BOOTS ON THE GROUND & NO DISCRIMINATION AT ALL, BECAUSE The MOUNTAINS, Valleys ,Prairies, or Anything Else Just Don't Care, Who is There, It's Hot or Cold & Alot of The Time BRUTAL ON YOU Your Body & Of course Your BOOTS So You BETTET HAVE GOOD ONES & Hopefully The BEST Or Atleast The Best For YOU FEMALE OR MALE It Don't Matter Out There It's A TOUGH JOB & You've Got To Be A TOUGH STRONG PERSON Or Get That Way REAL QUICK, SO This Video Was Real Telling & THANK GOD FOR ALL OF THEM EACH & EVERY ONE, So Thank Them For Doing What They Do & The BOOT MAKERS & Company's That Make Them & ALL THE OTHER THINGS They Need & Use
That was A Great VIDEO & HOPE TO SEE MORE LIKE IT ☆☆☆☆☆ 👍👍👍👍👍 I recommend if you see a forest service person or of course a firefighter, thank them, they deserve it.
Peter McKinnon made a video about that, the mountains won’t remember me
People joke about women firefighters, but when was the last time you saw a guy scrunch a burning tea towel out with his bare hands, or stomp a campfire out wearing shorts.
Perhaps it is all that working in the hot kitchen. LOL
Wow alot of good people out there are wearing Dumpster Danners.
Lots of Danners for sure! Have a bad experience?
Ive worked with 4 different pairs before I found Whites. Danners are all inferior, last a year tops. Not worth the money for a resole.
@@GentlemansJourney I did. I tried the danner when they first came out. Extremly comfortably. Lace hock broke day one. Returned those got second pair, same thing break within a week. Danner was great, refunded my money no hasle. The boot was just not tough enough. Been ff for 23 years. wore Nicks for most of that time. Now that Im no long part of a crew I wear a hiker style boot.
Looks like you should do a vid on maintenance.
We have a few on here, What boot do you want to see conditioned?
@@GentlemansJourney it was in reference to the boots that you showed that were in need of maintenance.
Awesome I've worked out in fire fuel reduction and cheaped on boots. Absolute mistake.
Oh man, I bet that was rough. Thanks for watching 🥾🥾
Firefighter; Nicks and whites........ 70yrs old usually stay with pumper/engine
Heck yes mate!! 🥾🥾
Canada west 🇨🇦
Thanks for watching.
Fuck yeah. I just got a pair of Canada west foresters, I live on Vancouver Island.
Anyone know or have a honest opinion about “Drew’s boots”
Not yet for me, hopefully somebody hops on and helps you out. Hope to see Drews on the channel in the future.
The Danner tactical boots do not last and are not worth the price. JK’s are where it’s at.
That’s good information man! You should be seeing some JK boots on the channel layer!🥾🥾
Coming from a hotshot… anything other than nicks or whites aren’t worth your money. Nicks and Whites only last one season. A season and a half if you’re trying to save pennys but one pair for each season is the general consensus
Sounds about right mate!!🥾🥾
Damn, really!? Can you get them re-soled after that?
I own Nicks hotshot boots and they are awfully heavy to wear all day.
Thanks for chiming in mate!
I got some used WESCO electrical boots, and they are ever HEAVIER than firefighting boots, imagine that.
I walk 8 to 10 miles a day and my feet have never been happier with my nicks.
JK boots 💯
On my list!
I've heard nothing but bad from anyone wearing JKs more than a season. They're the bottom of the pnw logger boot styles
@@raavaolinorman6518 I’d beg to differ
@@ADyess086 Ive seen multiple JKs in the last year where the soles aren't properly stitched and the stitching is falling off. They expanded too quickly and they're QC suffered. You do you! Nicks, Wescos, and even whites are better.
@@ADyess086 hell people order boots and get the wrong soles! JKs name js getting tarnished by his son
