I'm a Professional Truck Driver. This is making me feel *VERY* good. The T-Series sleeper is inspired by a Kenworth Aerodyne sleeper from the early 90s/2000s, but the truck is inspired by old International 9300 headlights. Super excited for cabovers, I've always wanted to own my own in real life. American style cabovers beat Euro cabovers in looks 10/10. That blue switch, I believe is a timer to do with the engine starting. It's to warm up your truck/cool down your truck before you start/end the day. I've never dealt with trucks running this kind of a setup. The "Jake brake" (Jacobs Engine Braking system) is electronic variable valve timing that turns the engine into effectively a giant air compressor. Because Diesel engines don't use a throttle body a conventional gasoline would use, they can't really slow down just by letting off the gas. Semi trucks have 4 main ways of slowing down. Jake brake, friction brake, exhaust brake and the side of a building. Exhaust brakes don't slow you down that much, friction brakes fade and fail, Jake brakes can overrun. The combination of all 3 keeps a driver safe on the road. Twin stick transmissions, a drive and an aux box. 5 forward gears and a 4 aux making a total of 20 forward gears... When you push in the trailer air supply without a trailer, you're venting your reserve air into the atmosphere. IF it gets too low, it'll automatically pop back out and cut its self off. Usually it's too late. The yellow button is the air supply to the spring brakes, keeping them open. Once your truck loses air, they "dynamite" and there's no more air keeping the springs open, applying the brakes at about 3000lbs of force. Those funny mechanical implements on that orange container hauler hold containers in place. I don't know how strong they are in a crash, I've never hauled containers.
@@ferrettankror1 There's only one real discrepancy I can see right now, the 10 speed transmission is effectively a 5.5 speed. The Overdrive button isn't really a range selector but a gear splitter, adding about an extra 500RPM onto every gear (a half gear). Nothing too wrong with it, but it would accurately be a 5 speed with a lo-hi selector. Took a bit of getting used to, but I'm happy with it either way.

what you heard is the jake brake. What it does is it slightly retards the timing of the exhaust valve in the engine so on the combustion stroke; instead of the piston going down to produce power; the exhaust valve opens and the ignited mixture gets pushed out the exhaust (hence why you hear that distinct popping sound; that's the combustion cycle being sent out the exhaust). Hope this explanation helps. It was invented because trucks used to wear their brakes out going down steep grades so they needed another way to slow these beheamoths down. So why not turn the engine into a braking device; hence engine brake or jake brake (named after the company that invented it)
I'm sorry but that explanation of a jake brake is completely wrong... . Basically, when you let of the go-go pedal, a blend of mechanical and solenoid actions completely change when the exhaust valve is open. Basic 4-stroke operation is 1-intake, 2-compression, 3-combustion/power, and 4-exhaust. When Jake brake is working, the 1st stroke is normal (in a diesel its just air), the 2nd stroke is key though because compression takes work or energy. This compression during the second stroke (both intake and exhaust valves are closed) is "driven" or created by the rolling drivetrain. The compression is then released at the top of the 2nd stroke by opening the exhaust valve to relieve cylinder pressure. All the work the drivetrain did to create the compression is released to the atmosphere and lost but that is the whole point to assist with braking and slowing down the rig. The popping sound is hearing the release of compressed air. 3rd stroke has no compression or fuel to ignite and the 4th stroke is also doing nothing because there is nothing to "exhaust".
The biggest reason compression braking is needed on a diesel is because they don't have a throttle like a gas engine does. In a gas engine, you get enough engine braking with the normal valve timing because it pulls a vacuum against the throttle valve. Diesels don't pull a vacuum, so the engine doesn't perform much work at all to pull in air and without popping the exhaust valve early, most of the energy used to compress the air is returned in the (non-)power stroke when it expands again. On older engines the jake brake valve opened directly to the atmosphere, making that distinctive super loud rumble, but more modern engines either use the regular exhaust valve or route both through the muffler to cut down noise.
@@TommyBravo but overuse of a Jake brake can be extremely hard on the valve train to where it can cause very expensive damage!(back in my heavy equipment school days, we had a Sterling Acterra come in with a blown up caterpillar 3406E and it turned out that overuse of the Jake brake had snapped off several exhaust valves in a cylinder and completely shattered the aluminum two piece piston. Something that has always been missing in BeamNG is reactive environments. Now, when you hit a chain-link fence with a semi truck, the truck gets totaled. But in reality, the fence is getting messed up and the truck, not so much. Light poles, trees, buildings, even smaller rocks and such should react to impact by deforming, crumbling crushing or moving (or all of the above if appropriate) But, I'm sure that would chew up a TON of processor and make even higher tier PC's go into a meltdown of sorts.
There already are chainlink gates, street signs and street lamps that deform, but you need to place them down yourself. You're probably right about the performance though. But maybe it could be programmed in a way that the destructible objects only turn destructible when the player is near.
Damn! SCS software should see this! That's how trucks should behave in ATS. It's much closer to real physics than the ATS. Because there, the tucks feel like on rails. And I'm not even talking about a crash model. Because it's just impossible to implement it with such an old engine that SCS is using. Or we just need to wait till someone converts the map from ATS to BeamNG. It would be sick!
Except that’s very likely never going to happen, for licensing reasons because manufacturers don’t like their trucks being destroyed, bring on the thumbs down I dare you
Compression release engine braking (Jake brake) is using back-pressure on pistons to slow the vehicle in order to assist and conserve the normal wheel brakes. You can think of this like putting your finger over a hose that you're also trying to blow through or pushing an old-fashioned, manual tire pump with your finger over the nozzle. Engines are big air pumps, so adding back-pressure makes it harder for the engine to turn, thus providing braking action so long as the engine is still connected to the drive wheels through the transmission. It's literally an "engine brake" instead of a wheel brake. As diesel engines have very high compression ratios, there is a *lot* of pressure in the cylinder when the jake brake does release and this causes the very loud popping when that air is released. Jake brakes are outlawed in many city limits, but can be annoying if you live near a highway, interchange, or steep grade. They are very useful, though.

I implore BeamNG devs to set their sights on more heavy industrial vehicles. The T-series is an excellent start and I hope that we see some official content for tracked vehicles (e.g. bulldozer, excavator....maybe even military tank) at some point. The orange chassis trailer with the locking pins is for hauling CONNEX boxes (aka containers) The containers have holes to receive locking pins for securing, lifting (cranes), and stacking (port yards) for transport (chassis trailer via road, stacked on train, or stacked in a cargo ship).
I know Beam doesn't get to use official vehicle brand names, but the vehicles do tend to be modelled after real-world vehicles.... in that sense, to potentially answer your question at 4:00, since the Gavril T-Series looks kinda like an International, I would hazard a guess and say that right there is commonly called a "Jacobs Brake". these work by cutting fuel to the engine, using the piston compression stroke to create resistance on the drive shaft, thereby using the driving wheels to brake. the loud sound that comes out the exhaust stacks would be the cylinder valves opening while the piston chamber is under pressure, creating a crazy loud "pop" sound from each one. interesting side note here: here in South Africa these International trucks are pretty popular choices as tow-trucks for other trucks... the vibrations from the Jacobs Brakes is so intense, that most of these big tow-truck drivers actually need to wear kidney belts while driving.. pretty hectic stuff.
Oh man. The new T-Series vehicles look amazing, as well as the new trailers! I certainly can imagine the amount of fun it will bring in BeamMP 😲 I also expect construction vehicles to appear at some point as well, especially from what this new update has! We'll have to see... 👍
Ok I’m not much of a semi expert myself, but I do know what the clamp things on the trailers do. A lot of work goes into balancing weight when trucking. It gives better mileage and handling. This should be done ahead of time however, but if they make a mistake and a weight station dings it as over weight they can pull over unclamp the clamps and drive a few slots with the rear wheels stationary to try and distribute the weight so it weighs correctly. I recommend looking this up since I have no background in the matter, but American Truck Sim doesn’t even have this!
I'd have to agree with you where this game could end up, I'd love to see BeamNG be just like Truck and Logistics Simulator but with the construction side added also
3:17 As someone who currently lives alongside 70, I can attest to the fact that that is still the nightly playlist, especially when the sound is getting carried by the wind

When are we gonna get vehicles properly breaking apart, not just stretching and clipping through objects in the map? And destructible engines, static props and steering wheels, as well as more realistic enertia physics? These devs like to take their time haha
Dude no way! Legit I was just saying we only have the 2002 Chevy lookalike so it would be so epic to have a lore friendly 2023 suv and pickup, why not a 2022 semi as well 😂
@Neilogical the engine brake what you've heard it's also called by truckers for truckers: the J-Brake. And i love that sound also than the smell of diesel and gasoline the whole day😁👍🏽
I was wondering if they added Jake Brakes to the trucks... and then he showed them off. The brief version of why the hell it's so loud is - you're hearing the raw engine noise straight out of the cylinder and is decompresses, bypassing the exhaust. It's so trucks can actually stop efficiently without having to bleed off all of the inertia and residual airflow when the driver takes his foot off the gas.
A modern electric pickup would be pretty cool. It could be an amalgamation of the Ford Lightning, Rivian R1T, and Hummer EV, combining the best parts of all three.

You can make utterly massive straight truck variants with the t-series now. I've built a bunch based off both new sleeper cabs with three axles ranging from flatbed to tanker to car hauler to cargo van, massive trucks.
It's called BeamNGdrive not BeamNGrace cause BeamNG is driving simulator. And why will you want GT7 levels of grip? Grip curve in GT7 is like cars on rails 😂 and it behaves like on/off switch. It's not progressive at all more so like here's too much grip than you need and here's no grip. AC only game that has believable grip curve that's non linear when driving at the limit. You can't compare BeamNG to any of these games as Beam developers are using an entirely complex level of simulation in their engine whereas other games are using easy to model empirical tyres that bank on numerical variables, not softbody (physical) tyres. BeamNG is still constant research passion project.

Might be a stretch but i feel like when their ready to, the devs can combine some of these USA based maps into one big connected one for free roam and hopefully the career mode in the future.
i agree with this it would be cool to have a extremely big map like that
Imagine connecting West Coast with East Coast 🤣. I'd rather they expand the current maps in the future when it's possible to dynamically render the maps.
@@kak8895 I agree, definitely want three to finish them out first, just when I see Johnson Valley (I think that’s what the desert map is called, the refresh of Utah Earlier this year I’d imagine they add a “Midwest” and “southern” map maybe then we’d get the dynamic map I
Mentioned
Rumble Strip sound is called a Jake brake. It uses the engine compression to slow the truck down and you were hearing compression pops.
I've always loved the looks of the old cabover (flat nose) trucks and seeing them in the new update just makes me wanna get this game even more. Just gotta get a PC first...
If there gonna be a ground deformation update, construction equipment would be actually awesome
Regarding things we´d love to see:
For me, that would be a junkyard map with a working press and some sort of an excavator with a grappler attachment to take cars apart.
Maybe they can overhaul the explosions and fire in the game and have the vehicles get dirty depending on the terrain
That crash into the guardrail (10:40) was spit-take hilarious! Can't wait to sink my teeth into this latest update!
Can't wait to make Optimus Prime with the new cabover T-Series! It's so good that that thing finally got an update!
I very much second a modern pickup truck in the game, with a full model range, including Raptor/TRX and electric version, alongside all kinds of different sizes
And Bumblebee using the modern muscle car
Yep, Bruckell has the engines to support a modern Full-Size Pick-Up Truck, along with a modern Full-Size SUV based on the same chassis of course!
I would absolutely love to see a iteration of the big 3 truck series. Light duty and heavy duty. I would so love to have a f150 i can make into a massive long travel suspension pre runner or a lowered single cab drag truck. Oh man that would be the stuff
1st and 3rd D-Series is the closest thing to an F-150 look-a-like
I know I can’t believe they haven’t added a modern pickup truck yet. An F150 Raptor or TRX would fit another slot BeamNG needs.
That’s the Jake brake, named after the real life company that invented it, Jacobs Vehicle Systems
If you guys havent, go to garage there is now a "Decals" section, it looks like we can actually make our own custom paints INGAME ._.
You're joking, right?
Time to inscribe free candy on the h series
go on the the game right now. you will see just that. its NOT a joke .-.
I’m sad they updated the gas prices in west coast. I can’t live in a fantasy and escape the reality of my bank account getting drained when ever I fill up.
Also I’d love if we got a front end loader with forks as an option. The little forklift mod isn’t enough to move cars around when I set up a junkyard
I’d love to have one of those specialized container lifters that you see in ports.
I implore BeamNG devs to set their sights on more heavy industrial vehicles. The T-series is an excellent start and I hope that we see some official content for tracked vehicles (e.g. bulldozer, excavator....maybe even military tank) at some point. I know that it's very difficult to make reliable beam models for tracks (because they bind up easily when doing maneuvers) but hopefully the devs can figure it out.
Should we also get a separate brand of semi truck since the T-series looks more like a Peterbuilt, we definitely need a kenworth equivalent.
This just makes me want one of those really long multipart trailers, you know, the ones that are like three connected trailers they use for hauling really long loads
Please try the WCUSA street circuit mod, it’s a really nice track that I think you guys would enjoy racing on.
Ironically the T-series may be the best sounding vehicle in the game. Would be cool to see the rest of them updated to sound this realistic
The sound is called a retarder a lot of people call it a Jake break but Jake is a brand of retarder it’s basically an exhaust brake that helps the engine slow the truck down
Anyways it's ABOUT time they added the ability to reset a single tuning value because yes IDK why was this not from the beginning, AND IT WAS A PAIN THAT RESET BUTTON WAS LIMITED TO ALL!!😪
construction vehicles with actual sand/dirt and blocks would be amazing. this game is already one of the best driving games ever (my favorite personally and i’ve only been playing it for 4 weeks), and i know it’ll continue to get much better 🔥
The orange chassis trailer with the locking pins is for hauling CONNEX boxes (aka containers) The containers have holes to receive locking pins for securing, lifting (cranes), and stacking (port yards) for transport (chassis trailer via road, stacked on train, or stacked in a cargo ship).
I think the cab over variant is my favourite thing about this update as well as the mirrors on the truck.
Imagine if you could shift by grabbing the shifter with node grabber lol
😂
I'd like to see either an american sports car or an old european sports car like a porsche
A modern Euro-cabover with a V8 would be cool
Oh man. The new T-Series vehicles look amazing, as well as the new trailers! I certainly can imagine the amount of fun it will bring in BeamMP 😲
I also expect construction vehicles to appear at some point as well, especially from what this new update has! We'll have to see... 👍
Dear Neil beamNG has made a hole video on how to attach a trailer, I recommend you watch it
Oh holy cow I was like I’ve always had mirrors but I just noticed I’ve never seen my own vehicle in the mirror so that’s so cool! Wow!
Update 0.32 includes a euro-truck
I'd have to agree with you where this game could end up, I'd love to see BeamNG be just like Truck and Logistics Simulator but with the construction side added also
3:17 As someone who currently lives alongside 70, I can attest to the fact that that is still the nightly playlist, especially when the sound is getting carried by the wind
in the files, the t series was originally called semi. now, its called us_semi. next update? *EURO TRUCK SIMULATOR*
Beamng is getting so much better by the year and I can’t wait what is next. 😊❤
I was watching camodo when i saw THIS
Engine brake basically turns the engine into a compressor
Seeing this puts a big dum smile on my face
Finally
Something nice to base the European truck mod on!
At this point the game is getting better for the second
Muye pointed out the name change for the T-Series game files. It used to be "semi" and now it's "us_semi". Hmm, that would imply "euro_semi" wouldn't it? Knock-off Scania trucks and their amazing sounding V8s when?
The bad guy semi is a reference to terminator 2
Nice to see the T-Series getting some love. But come on Beamng devs, when you gonna give some to the Moonhawk? That car absolutely deserves some much needed love & attention
Not to mention the Barstow, Burnside, Bluebuck, Grand Marshal, LeGran, and the T-series and H-series.
This looks awesome! Is there a way to make all the traffic vintage cars to increase the immersion?
This man just called a cabover a "mid engine" 🤣🤣🤣
Unfortunately, the mirrors aren't working currently, probably will get patched in the next day or so. Aside from that the rest of the remake is badass lol. Quality vid as always lol
Edit: I was wrong, its buried in the graphic settings under reflections. It`s not on by default.
As a truck driver, these are pretty accurate. The "american patriot" is a kenworth w900 aerodyne 1990s model i believe.
When are we gonna get vehicles properly breaking apart, not just stretching and clipping through objects in the map? And destructible engines, static props and steering wheels, as well as more realistic enertia physics? These devs like to take their time haha
what are you talking about
Do u realise how long that will take lol “haha”
@@CASA-dy4vs I know games that have this and they aren't that old
@@maxcarter3453 yeah that’s the point, they aren’t old. Old games like ptfs which can be considered old aren’t optimised like games today fella
I hope to see a racing update
Hell yeah trucks. Stay awesome Neil.
Eta - Cab over love.
Dude no way! Legit I was just saying we only have the 2002 Chevy lookalike so it would be so epic to have a lore friendly 2023 suv and pickup, why not a 2022 semi as well 😂
Neil, traffic is a little more fun if you set the ai to flee.
Might make for some more funny moments while driving.
That Bad Guy one is absolutely based on Terminator 2
3:17 I know nothing about trucks, but I think that sound is also called a Jake brake.
I have a feeling I'm wrong about this.
@Neilogical the engine brake what you've heard it's also called by truckers for truckers: the J-Brake. And i love that sound also than the smell of diesel and gasoline the whole day😁👍🏽
Aren't the developers of BeamNG the original Rigs of Rods guys?
Yes
What map is that?
I want mud for beamng even RDR2 style mud. Doesn't need to be as deep as mud runner
I WISH TYPO SPACES WOULD STOPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😪😪😪😪😪😪😪😪😪😪😪😪😪😪😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
The engine braking noise is called a Jake brake, it prevents the driver from only using the wheel brakes and overheating them
I was wondering if they added Jake Brakes to the trucks... and then he showed them off.
Beam ng is trucking, rally, off road, trophy truck, nascar, f1 and GT racing sim all in one. Best game ever.
NO FORD PICKUP! NO ELECTRIC! Modern pick up...yes
TY for the update!
They also added some Map stuff, I am subbed to the offical BeamNG channel.
i really like the international corn binder too. suprised they included that
Everyone is talking about how good they look but man do they sound GOOOOOD.
A modern electric pickup would be pretty cool. It could be an amalgamation of the Ford Lightning, Rivian R1T, and Hummer EV, combining the best parts of all three.
interior design looks good. i love snowrunner because driving off road and heavy mud super fun. every road gives you interesting puzzle and you feel that atmosphere. BeamNG also have great physics but map and quests system need work. This game need more things, just crash testing become boring quick. This good physics deserve amazing maps, quests like snow and mudrunner. i love İnterior design specially with beamNG. rain drops and dust, mud on the glass also make this game better.
the T 600 tribute to terminator is top notch
also, that bad guy truck i believe is the semi from the original Terminator movie back in the day!
Yeeees, I have been waiting for this update for so long, incredibly psyched about!
Beam ng would would be absolutely crazy if they had terraforming code like mudrunner/spintires, then you add a voxle system and add construction equipment that'd be even crazier.
I know exactly what those moving metal pieces are on that trailer. They hold down storage containers and stuff.. so does that mean cranes and construction equipment is gonna actually happen???
I want cranes on trucks to help load small loads
That’d be cool if they made a Euro style cabover truck too.
Funny. In the files the T-series used to be called "semi" now it's "us-semi" could be sooner then later.
@@jaronhamrick6702 we definitely need a Kenworth equivalent to compliment the T-series since they're essentially Peterbuilts.
You can make utterly massive straight truck variants with the t-series now. I've built a bunch based off both new sleeper cabs with three axles ranging from flatbed to tanker to car hauler to cargo van, massive trucks.
I hope they update the handling for racing cars to feels like Assetto Corsa or GT7, more grip is needed.
@@kak8895It would be more fun if it have real driving simulator feel
Glad they fixed the water physics on the new jump arena
YESSS!! LETA GOOooO! T-Series!!! Finally! I love the Rig.
That mirror update was just necessary tbh
I really hope this really does give ATS and ETS a wake up call because both those games are showing their age
Demolition Derbys are going to be on a whole nother level😂
if you have this kinda of vehicle what you really need is a big map, like The Crew 2 big
