Explaining SPINNING REEL Sizes (1000, 2500, 5000)

All these numbers can get quite confusing and intimidating, but don't worry, it's actually fairly simple...
We also look at which reel size is best for which kinds of fish.

So I’m new to this I’m looking between a 2500-1000 but I’m not sure the size of fishes that I’ll be going for would you also say that a 1000 can Handel any size fish for fresh water

i use 1000 series for trout n some bass

1000 size for trout/sunfish & smaller bass, bigger bass id go to a 2000-2500 depending on weeds & structure in the water

Why don’t baitcasters have reel sizes ? What spinning reel size is closest to common baitcaster ?

they do. a 2000 size spinner is comparable to a 100 or 150 size bait caster. not all are alike but generally those sizes can get ~15lbs of drag force, give or take. Line capacity varies.

Yeah not true entirely reel size is usually balanced with rod size to ballance it ie 6 foot lure rod 1000 11 foot feeder or wagler rod 3000 to 4000
