Nathaniel Branden's book is the culmination of a lifetime of clinical practice and study, already hailed in its hardcover edition as a classic and the most significant work on the topic. Immense in scope and vision and filled with insight into human motivation and behavior, The Six Pillars Of Self-Esteem is essential reading for anyone with a personal or professional interest in self-esteem. The book demonstrates compellingly why self-esteem is basic to psychological health, achievement, personal happiness, and positive relationships. Branden introduces the six pillars-six action-based practices for daily living that provide the foundation for self-esteem-and explores the central importance of self-esteem in five areas: the workplace, parenting, education, psychotherapy, and the culture at large. The work provides concrete guidelines for teachers, parents, managers, and therapists who are responsible for developing the self-esteem of others. And it shows why-in today's chaotic and competitive world-self-esteem is fundamental to our personal and professional power.

An excellent book, I discovered it 24 years ago (I regret not having known it before). Now I'm doing the exercises, the 31 week program. Still in week 8 but I got the feeling that something very important is going to happen in my life !!!

Liberating! I realized, and listening to this great book is a stark reminder , that self-esteem can be lost over time without noticing it. It's hard work getting it back and making sure it stays. For the sake of the seventh pillar: the love of life. Thank you!

    Morning
    1. Living consciously to me means ....(6-10 endings)
    2. If I bring 5 percent more attention to my activities today...
    3. If I bring 5 percent more attention to how i deal with people today...
    4. If I bring 5 percent more attention to most important relationships ....
    Evening before dinner
    1. What happened when i brought awareness to the 4 causes above?
Do this from Monday to Friday. Do not read what you've written before. Dont think too much. Finish within 10 mins. Empty mind of expectations. Just observe. 1:08:34
    Self acceptance.
What i am feeling is what i am feeling. Stand still to what is true. Fully absorb and accept "unwanted" emotions. It is denial that leaves me stuck. Be a friend to myself. Not to justify but to understand.
Stand in front of a mirror for 2 mins and accept every part of you. (Accept =\= like). Acceptance brings change. My face is my face and my body is my body, no matter how hard is it to look at. Accept everything even the block. Accept the opposition. Accept is the precondition for change.
    Sentence completion
    Morning
    1. Self acceptance to me means...
    2. If I am more accepting of my body...
    3. When i deny and disown my body...
    4. If I am more accepting of my conflicts...
    Evening
    1. When i deny disown my conflicts...
    2. If i am more accepting to my feelings
3.When i deny and disown my feelings
    4. If i am more accepting of my thoughts
    5. When i deny and disown my thoughts
    Weekend
    Read all and write ending
    1. If any of what I have written this week is true, it might be helpful if I.....

At the end of each week, read what you have written, this is where you assess the thoughts you blurted out. What have you repeated, what seems to strike a cord, what seems random or unusual. Introspect and assess what you have written.
Then do the weekend stem if any of what you have said is true what can you do about it, should anything be done about it, what action could you take that would help you live more conscious/take more responsibility/be more assertive etc
Eg when I did the week 1 of living consciously, i had written several times that i wanted to check in on certain people therefore that completed stem would look like this: if any of what I have been writingthis week is true, it might be helpful if I plan more conversations with this friend, check in more often.
For me it was easier to assess specifically what was important to me and then I looked at what actions may be helpful @shrookkhaled5710 hope this helps
