    This is an in depth review of the Lenovo X1 Yoga 2nd Generation 2017 laptop. This was made after everyday use for 6 months as my daily driver for medical school. No regrets in this laptop except I wish I would have cashed out for the 16gig RAM instead of 8.
    Questions? post in comments section below
    Specs: Intel i7-7500U 2.7ghz, 8gb RAM, 256 PCIe ssd. FHD screen. Intel HD Graphics 620.
    Ports: 2 Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C), 3xUSB 3.0, 1xHDMI, Mini-RJ45 (ethernet adapter port), microSD, miroSIM, weight: 3.1 lbs
    If this is out of your budget, go for the Yoga 720 13 inch or Thinkpad Yoga 370... or just visit the Lenovo website, there are so many 2-in-1 laptops coming out now. Also, the Yoga 720 12.5 inch model seems pretty nice and affordable!

    I own this, but the 16GB ram model. I don’t have the fan noise issue, but I will say the battery life doesn’t last long especially if you have OLED screen. If you have the LCD screen, it lasts longer: depends on how you configure.
    4 hrs is realistic usage on battery drain.
    I use this in a student setting where lecture involves laptop on for 2 hrs per class, some classes are 4 hours long.
    Invest in a external battery bank that works with the 65W adapter wall outlet plug, cuz some classrooms aren’t near wall outlets.

      @doctorkomari2327  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      yea the OLED version drains fast. I have the FHD screen and get 7 hrs average with just school work. You can set your battery to "battery saver" mode if you don't need the full processing power if just in class taking notes, makes it last noticeably longer

      @brutalhonesty07 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Doctor Komari yup, I do. But only seems to extend it for a little longer. Maybe 6 hours if lowest brightness, I know OLED screen flickers a bit of brightness is below 25% though so...that’s a pain, but I do use a complete black wallpaper, and on kindle app dark mode, is wonderful. In that utilization it lasts like 8 hours, cuz no power is used for light.
      I always hope my textbooks are available in e-book kindle forum, but alas not always.

    Great review. Just wondering if you compared this with the Surface Book 1. I am having a tough time trying to decide between the X1 yoga OLED 2017 vs Surface Book 1 with dedicated GPU

    • @doctorkomari2327
      @doctorkomari2327  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      if you need a dedicated GPU to work graphics get the surface book, if not then, yea its a tough choice :/
      I would go to stores that display similar models and play with them to see what you like to help decide

    Thank you for a great in-depth review. I'm considering buying Lenovo X1 Yoga (2017). Have you had any issue with your laptop? Is the screen durable and scratch resistant?

    • @doctorkomari2327
      @doctorkomari2327  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      as of right now I have zero issues. I've had it for 6+ months now. If you do buy it, I would also get the Lenovo extended warranty, i got the 3 year. Resistant is relative, I don't have any scratches and I've been writing with my active pen every day.

      @doctorkomari2327  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      half of my macbook screen is messed up lol, I got it used.
      But I would say I strongly prefer reading off of my lenovo. FHD screens are solid quality.

    Important not, a usb 2.0 won't support external gpu, nor a plain old 3.0/3.1/3.2... The laptop must state that it's a thunderbolt port, it will also likely be able to charge from it as well

    i finnaly bought it . i bought the 1st gen . just want to ask you > if it is normal that it gets hot from time to time when only using it for basic tasks like ytb videos i have the base model

    • @doctorkomari2327
      @doctorkomari2327  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have the 2nd gen, what I would do is research how to put certain applications to sleep when not in use, sometimes there are background applications that are running. I would search in the Lenovo forums for information on this, just type in the issues you're having, I'm sure others have had similar issues and have found solutions.

      Mine is still running strong, if you do get a Lenovo, make sure to get a warranty with it. I went for the 3 year warranty which came in clutch when it started have issues which they repaired the hard drive for free.

      Well I've had this for a little over a year now, the battery life is pretty strong. So far no complaints, like all computers it did freeze a couple times, but I just restarted it so no issues. I usually have several programs running when I close the laptop and opening it, turns on quickly. So far the best laptop in the world (for my needs) haha
