Surprisingly, I was faced with the same perplexity I was buying a laptop today. Though, overall I chose the X1 yoga over the X390 yoga. Majorly coz of speed, better sound, longer battery life, faster download. Though the x390 had a better camera though the sound n download speed was a bit slower. Overall, both devices are excellent. But the X1 yoga is premium
TBH I wasn’t a fan of the moving keyboard. Have had the Gen 1 and didn’t upgrade because of the change to lift & lock. Also, I NEVER use it as a “tablet.” It’s just too big. I DO use it quite often in “stand” mode w/ the keyboard on the table. Good for movies and presentations.
I am very close to buying this in the i7 4.6Ghz, 4K screen, 16Gb ram, 500Gb SSD guise but the reviews are saying it’s no good for gaming and I want to be able to play Rainbow 6 Siege with knocked back graphics settings. With those specs I don’t understand why it wouldn’t play many games such as Siege well, is this actually the case? I just realised I completely forgot about a fundamental piece of hardware for gaming, the graphics card...
There's no OLED, because OLED has burn-in issues, and are not suitable for computer screen use where there are a lot of static assets. Also it's not easy on the battery. The fold-in keyboard thing was also discontinued for 2 reasons, it was more expensive to produce, and to many warranty claims for it breaking (more mechanical moving components)
You gotta really TEST the speaker with audio and music man instead of just saying “it’s gonna sound great”. Watched a couple of your review vids never once had you actually tested the speaker it’s kinda frustrating tbh.
For me, the lift and lock keyboard and storable pen slot was the two signature features to buy an X1 Yoga. Big disappointment IMHO. Although I am really liking the new X1 Carbon. I’ll probably go with the Carbon since my gen 1 X1 Yoga is due for replacement soon.
Thanks again Richard. Great review and without added background music. Outstanding. Still looking forward to a possible P53/P73 review.
I do miss the lift and lock keyboard :(
Is the 4k display a big problem with the thinkpad ?
there are 2 types of aluminum alloys light and heavy. Laptops use lighter aluminum. it's different from the heavy aluminum found on cars.
Is it bad that the keys aren't retractable?
Do you recommend this one or the X390 Yoga?
Or the C930? :))

At this point it doesn't make sense to buy something without Comet Lake or Ice Lake
fhd and uhd battery life..??

eGPU?
Update? I’m trying to play hard drive games too

Aluminium dents easily. Once you get a dent it's permanent. It's still better than plastics, and no finger prints.
Where is the Red inner box? Seems not to be a real unboxing.

Looks like Lenovo uses PWM in 4k display, as it flickers a lot more than FHD, pity.

Haha, I just read his shirt as GayFinder thinking he’s brave only to realise it’s Gryffindor from Harry Potter
I honestly hate you for having so many laptops when I can’t afford just one for school
