I've had mine since new in 2014 and I can't ever see myself parting with it by my choice. It has been, and continues to be fantastic in every regard. When it does have to go one day, it will forever be very sorely missed.

had mine brand new in 2013, and let it go in 2020 with 95k on the clock. not the most powerful car I haave owned but the most enjoyable for sure. even better than my current ride, a Toyota GR Yaris.

@@theo_konstantinou there is nothing wrong with the GR Yaris, do not get me wrong. I just find the Swift Sport more enjoyable. The only complaint is Toyota should place the start button on the right for RHD models.

I've currently got the 2009 version... had it for 2.5 years now, brilliant car... mechanically solid and reliable. But the best thing of all, is that you can be travelling at the same speed as someone in their boring automatic euro suv, but it makes you FEEL like you're chucking a go kart around. Thats what makes the swift as good as it is.

I've owned mine for five years and had a Suzuki Ignis Sport for eleven years before that. These cars are inexpensive to buy, cheap to run, durable, easy to maintain and fun to drive. I even use mine on track days. Great choice for a used buy, good review and sensible advice.

Great review CarGurus UK and Rebecca. My friend the 1.2 mark2 Swift for a very long time and I was quiet surprised how punch that car was, He was so close to buying the mark2 Swift Sport which he wanted for a long time but he was so so disappointed with the one he test drove. He said to me that it didn't feel much pokier than his car but the car didn't have a service well over a year. I said probably that might be why he didn't fill the better performance. But what Rebecca saying, it sounds like that might have been the major problem. But my friend did like really the mark3 Swift Sport but he ended up with a Jaguar XE R-Sport. What a total difference hey.

A great review Rebecca of a great used car. The Swift has been on and off my radar for longer than I can remember but they were to a point like an update of the original classic Mini, chuckable and a drivers car without loopy power output. Unfortunately my circumstances at the time denied me making a purchase but who knows what the future holds?. People I know who have experience of Suzuki cars over the years have had good service from the dealer network as well.

It's a great little sporty car, own one for 7years now and still loving it. Everbody that drives it loves it to, have to say sometimes go rev it up a bit and then it comes alive in combination with some twisty roads and then it drives like a kart.
Ow it always runs, the one failure it had was the gearbox lever bushing, so couldn't change gears anymore. Its a 5 minute repair replacing a bushing just beside the gearstick. The rest is, tires, breakpads, whiperblades.
Maybe will tryout the new swift ever but doubt if it's so much fun as this 2014 model.
Oh and never had a car with these great seats in it.

I bought one way before seeing this, common faults I’d look for are the driver’s seat bolstering likes to fail, the bushes in the gear linkage are failing as the cars age, the window regulators can get stiff (a quick greasing solves this), all the alloys seem to corrode and the rear calipers like to seize. Apart from these minor faults (and one major (calipers)) they’re good cars and I’d highly recommend them.

    • @ThePedroDB
      @ThePedroDB 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

Your experience totally mirrors my own. I owned a 2007 Mk.1 Swift Sport from 2012-2024.
Had to replace an electric window mechanism in the Driver's door, Battery, Exhaust, 02 Sensor, ABS Pump (a recognised 'fail' apparently..), Rear Shock Absorbers, Front Springs and a Radiator. The door side cushion on the Driver's seat eventually wore through despite being really careful (the metal mechanism underneath just cuts through the foam..).
Mostly consumables apart from those Rear Calipers. Had to replace mine 3 times over that period. Really annoying and probably THE most expensive component of long-term maintenance (for me..). Keeping the mechanism well greased with Marine Grease helped but annoying nonetheless.
I loved my Swift. It was 'honest' and simple fun. Never especially fuel ecconomic but not bad either. It provided a huge amount of driving fun on a shoestring budget.
I treated myself to a new Hyundai i20N earlier this year. It's a fantastic car but there is soooo much tech to go wrong in later years. We shall see...

I had a mk1 Swift Sport from new in 2009. At the same time I had an EP3 Civic Type R. The Civic was faster, but the Swift was no less fun. It handled like it was on rails, roundabouts at just a bit too much speed were hilarious, and my favourite memory was when I chased a Honda CRX Del Sol onto an A-road at full blast. Both absolutely thrashing it, both about the same performance, and probably almost didn't break the law.

Just bought a high-miler with Bilstein b6s and sportier brakes fitted (otherwise stock), looked after really well. Loads and loads of fun driving it. The previous owner went for a GR Yaris and regarded to the Swift Sport as loads of fun even compared to the Yaris.

This is exactly the same as mine, from which I’ve had nearly 5 years of sterling, trouble free motoring. The speed in which you can enter an (empty!) roundabout or corner is unnerving 😂 Having test driven its successor, I’ll likely be getting one this summer. It didn’t disappoint, and will be a worthy replacement as my next daily driver….

Good review, from a pro racing driver too✌️😊💜
The Suzuki Swift Sport is a hot hatch, the modern batch (various brands), are, I'd argue, hyper hatches. Not sure why most motoring journos haven't twigged that. It's not comparing apples with apples 🤔😊
All the Swift range of this era have great chassis, shame more tuning parts aren't available in the UK.
I've put some all weather Bridgestones on my Swift, much more sure footed in the wet than the horrible summer (eco) Continentals it came with. A panel K&N and some other mild tweaks and it's nice and spritely, much more the ethos of old school minis😉😉💜✌️

Great vid! I've got a 2015 model the same as this one, although mine's modified a little. 🙂 I thought I'd have it for a couple of years then get something else, but I've had it almost 7 years and just don't want to part with it. Currently on 37k. They drive brilliantly. It's easily the most fun car I've owned, and I love it! I also own a mk1 Golf GTI, and the Swift is just better in every way. 🙂 The standard stereo is awful, though - Upgrade to an Android Auto/Apple carplay unit from the likes of JVC, Pioneer, etc. and the car is then perfect. 🙂

No spare wheel, just a Tyre Repair Kit. No recess in the boot well for a full size spare wheel either. 99% of the time this isn't an issue, until you damage a tyre, then you're in trouble. The touch screen is a bit too low in my opinion, you have to take your eyes off the road to look at it, not ideal. Google Maps and a phone holder is safer.
