Beautiful footage of an awesome plane! I'll be sad to see it go. And your video taught me something that I didn't know before...only 3 of the 4 vertical stabilizers have rudders on them, not all four. 🤠👍
Outstanding capture of this beautiful workhorse for the U.S. Navy. Everything in is this video accents the marvel of brilliant engineering including the reverse to taxi, huge eight bladed props with their neo tips at hold short for takeoff, and the sound of those magnificent turboprops!
Didn't look like they used much flap. Maybe doesn't matter with such a long runway, but still, why wouldn't they use max flaps? A wee bit less strain on the gear maybe?
Wife and I had a great visit there in 2002! Stayed at a B&B, which was just so much fun -- meeting fellow travelers in the breakfast room and getting ideas where to go next (York, it was!). Amazing castle, too -- tons of historical exhibits, a true museum of Scottish and British military history. Add the city to your bucket list Salute to Edinburgh and all Scotland from a retired U.S. Navy chief petty officer in the Pacific Northwest.
not rare at all part of a carrier group flying people back and forth supplies mail etc..Ive done a few carrier landings on patrol aircraft and supply aircraft whats more rare is reverse...nice
A very nice wing wave salute to the fine folks of Edinburgh upon departure. Love it!
Indeed, a very nice gesture!

Thank you very much! I didn’t notice that before, good eye!
Wonderful. The US Navy has the most complete air force in the world. Imagine that aircraft landing or taking off on a ships deck. Amazing. Rmb5*
It will be a shame when they replace them with Ospreys after their retirement. They have given The USN Excellent service.
Indeed, whilst I love the Osprey, I have a soft spot for any classic aircraft. So much more character!
Greatly Captured Mate
Cheers mate much appreciated!
OMG .. you made the right move - awesome footage!!!
What body again?
Cheers! Using the Sony A7IV, awesome camera, does everything pretty well!

Thank you!
Great video love the reversing with co pilot looking out the window half expected to hear a revesing beeper
Thanks much appreciated! Aye not every day you see a plane reversing on its own!
Nice video, great to see such a rare visitor 👍🏻
Thanks! Absolutely, nice change from the usual traffic!
What an interesting aircraft, love it & great video 👌🙏✈️
Cheers!
02:42 caught me in Builders yard!
Hahaha aye thought you might be in it!
Go Navy!

They were only repositioning to Prestwick (about a 20 min flight) so I don’t imagine they had much fuel on board, so they could lift off pretty easy
@@Avi8Jack Makes sense. Thanks.
👍 great to see such a rare kite .
We used to get C1 Traders into Northolt in the 70s
I am surprised that the crewman supervising the engine start was not thrown off the airfield by the H&S numpties for not having a hi-vis.
oh .. great viewpoint from over there!!
My go to for 24 departures 👌🏻
@@Avi8Jack Nailed it!!!
We had this fly over Blackpool at 150, sadly it was overcast and we couldnt see it. A lot of folk around here were to say the least a bit cheesed off.
Hopefully it’s not the last we see of them!
@@Avi8Jack It would be good.
Incredible quality footage - what lens?
Thank you very much! This is a Sigma 60-600, best lens I’ve ever had and can definitely recommend it
@@Avi8Jack cheers! :)
The United States Navy refers to this aircraft as the COD, Carrier on board deliver, mail, packaging, personnel etc
Interesting, thank you!
And they were always welcome because they brought the pony - e.g. The Pony Express so the mail for us all on the ship before we all had e-mail.
ive never been to edinburgh.i wish i was there though
It’s a nice city and the airports great for spotting. I hope you get to visit one day!

Thank you for your comment, I’m glad you enjoyed your stay! I would love to visit the Pacific Northwest at some point. Beautiful looking place
How big are those propellers?
The length is 3.71 meters
@@Avi8JackPropeller dimensions are quoted as a diameter, not by blade length.
Great Catch
Thanks!
nice camera work
Thank you much appreciated!
Nice to see.....and a wee wing wave at the end....😊
Yep was nice of them!
@Avi8Jack due to weather conditions at Prestwick I believe...😊
Yeah too foggy, which worked out nicely since I’m a lot closer to Edinburgh!
@@jayeff3196 That is unusually as Prestwick is usually fog free.
@christopherrobinson7541 100%..
Left engine looks smokier than the right. Why would that be?
The smoke is possibly caused by partially burnt fuel, so maybe more in the left engine
In COD we trust!
CNO forgot his clubs

The title is referring to how incredibly rare it is to see a C2 at Edinburgh. Yeah the reverse was pretty cool!
