I traded my Tacoma 2 days ago for this truck. Night and day difference. 2022 Nissan Frontier PRO-X drives quieter, smother, and tighter than the Tacoma. It's a comfortable ride, and has room in the back for my 7 and 9 year old kids. In addition, the quality inside the truck is awesome. It's probably the best mid size truck I've encountered. Nissan made a killer truck.

Just picked up our 2022 Pro-X Saturday and we could not be happier! We don't really need a 4 x 4, so this 4x2 is perfect for us. The technology in this vehicle is so advanced! Going from a 2015 Camry to this since we moved out into the country was a no brainer. It is very quite, drives smoothly, and is not bumpy on the road. I owned a 2001 Chevy Silverado back in 2000 and it was very loud on the highway, really bumpy and the MPG just was not great. We have driven this truck after picking it up from Lewisville to Aubrey, then to Prosper, then to Arlington (to go see the Red Hot Chili Peppers), back to Aubrey, and again this morning to Prosper for groceries, then back to Aubrey and I still have just over a half of a tank of gas left. This was probably the best purchase we have executed in regards to vehicles. Thank you for this review! Even though I did not watch it until after our purchase, but it was spot on!

You’re basically getting a pro4X without four-wheel-drive if you don’t need four-wheel-drive then this truck is perfect and it saves you about $5000. I own this truck and anybody that’s comparing it to a Ranger or Colorado is off base, those two trucks do not even compare as far as build quality especially the Ranger. I had a ‘21 ranger traded in for this truck and couldn’t be happier the build quality was cheap and definitely not built to last. The only other midsize I would consider besides this would be a Tacoma but the ride quality on the frontier is much nicer.

    Good morning Nolan,
As a South African, i eagerly follow overseas (international) motoring journalists/ vloggers/ youtubers. Currently, you are the ONLY North American TH-camr whose content that i regularly view.
    Keep it up.
With regards to the Nissan, it is definitely sparsely apportioned. There is really nothing that separates it from it's competitors. Nothing really stands out.
There is that Nissan reliability, but other than that. Zilch.
i believe that if, as a motoring manufacturer, you're going to offer a very mediocre product, at least price it competitively.
i have to agree with you, that not having a rear v differential lock, is a very HUGE misstep.
Nissan have definitely taken their eye off the ball. Unlike the Datsun's of old, and subsequent Nissan's, there's virtually no more innovation. Therefore, i can confidently predict, that they will NOT increase their market share or steal away customers from other manufacturers. Especially with mediocre offerings line this.
Thank you for an informative channel. i like your night time view.
    P. S. If at all possible, can't you get a go-pro with a suction cup, for your forward view? And at times, your sound, especially outside, can be a bit iffy.
    P. P. S. The reason why i no longer watch/ follow the other North American TH-camrs, is that they regularly use God's name in vain, which i find extremely offensive. Please don't do it.
Keep up the good work Nolan
    Kind regards
    Your #1 South African fan

Hi Warren, thank you so much for the kind words. I really appreciate you watching!
I was surprised to see Nissan not really blow people away with anything, like you said. They made nice upgrades but nothing that will out-do the competitors.
As for the camera...at one time I used to have a gopro suctioned facing forward and one facing me, then I tinkered with the head mount and had people vote, and I think around 2/3rds of people voted for the head mount so I've kept using that.
I apologize about the sound, I've had some issues with audio loss and cutting in and out at various times and when I try to replicate or fix things, it doesn't do it. I've changed microphones a couple of times now and I'm hoping things will improve from here on out.
You definitely won't hear me take God's name in vain. No worries there. Thank you again!

      @@PrimeAutotainment Good evening Nolan,
Thank you for taking the time to reply.
The reason why i suggested the go-pro mounted on the wind screen, was so that i, along with other viewers can watch you and the road at the same time.
Regarding the sound, i have an old Samsung's S8 + with a single speaker, therefore my sound is not great.
Also,i do not like to add TH-cam's terrible subtitles, it's a distracting experience at best.
Anyway, keep on keeping on... ( "Uzoba right" things will improve). Just a bit of IsiZulu.
You do a lot of things that nobody else does. And that is what en dears you to tens of thousands.
      Regards,
      Warren

What innovation are you looking for? Innovation without need just means complication, which means more stuff to break or become obsolete.
I have driven a 1987 Nissan truck for nearly 30 years, and the simplicity has aged well. No one ever criticized Land Rover or Jeep for staying the same for decades.

Being that I lease and put on low miles, I personally have no issues with direct injection only engines. Great review and if I could justify owning a mid size pickup, the Frontier would be the choice. Typically not a Nissan guy, but they did a great job overall with this truck. The GM twins are old, the Ranger is meh and the strange seating position of the Tacoma makes it a no go for my 6'2" frame. Great entertainment Nolan!

Re: engine. I would rather prefer a DI engine to keep it simple. I had a 3300 '05 nissan frontier & no problems or issues for over 150k, except wear & tear such as AC compressor after about 100k. I put a K &N filter on it & got a little better giddy up. When they start putting turbo's etc. on gas engines & having to use premium to prevent knock, & not understanding how to use a turbo, it starts getting seals etc. bursting, or blown turbos. Turbos are great for diesels as they are needed for truckers/commercial trucking etc. Then you have to use DEF which, after a while gets expensive. What I meant by "use a turbo", it's best to idle a few minutes 1st thing am, which gives a turbo time to adjust to engine temps, & help reduce blown seals & turbos. It's also best to "idle down" after the day for a few minutes. (CDL 30 yrs.)

    What’s the point of a 2wd truck

    • @TIJoe-te9qu

Been driving a 2wd Nissan for over 30 years. Many don't need to pay for 4wd they rarely use. My father lived in NE Washington where it's winter half the year, and he used mostly 2wd trucks in construction.
It's crazy how much gas we could save if everyone didn't get a 4wd who needs it only for ego reasons. I live in a place where everyone has a 4x4, and they never go off road and never drive in snow. All about being mall crawlers.

      @TIJoe-te9qu ปีที่แล้ว

Well, much of Amerika got built with 2wd rigs before the big 3 started making 4wd in the 60s, and the imports didn't start until almost 1980.
Where I live, EVERYONE gets a 4x4, usually for the "cool factor." Almost zero snow here, and most of the trucks never see a dirt road.
I had a few nice 4x4s, and the temptation to go exploring was too great, so they started getting beat up. So now have a 2wd Nissan. More power and better mileage than my Toyota due to less weight and moving parts.

I just never understood how my taste can be so far off from these reviewers opinions. I watch a lot of these midsize truck reviews and this truck is brand new and yet I still think the new Ranger is by far and away a better truck even though they say it’s an older truck. My FX2 that’s comparable to this truck actually has a rear locker, folding mirrors, tilt/telescope wheel, 17s, electric steering, higher torque, Sync3, all of which this “new” truck does not have! I just don’t understand the hate on Ford.

I like my 2020 fx2 but sometimes I wish I had more engine. Sport mode is quick for passing on the highway and shit but that transmission is retarded sometimes. In fact that damn transmission trying to react to my throttle response when trying to get through an intersection rapidly after a a quick deceleration has nearly got me killed.
