@@greatcornholio5541 to each their own. I prefer the 3rd gen Tacoma to pretty much any other mid-size truck. Certainly more than the 2nd gen Tacoma and leaps and bounds better than the Ranger or Gladiator.
Nissan needs to get its sticker pricing in order. My 21 Titan Pro-4x sticker was $55k, but I paid $45k. With the constant incentives, Nissan would sell a boat load more trucks if the sticker said $48k and the incentives were $3-5k. As it stands, people compare the Nissan sticker to the big 3 and don't see the value.
That's the big issue. People compare the sticker price and that's it, they don't look at what you're actually getting for the money. The Nissan Titan, for example, gives you for $40k what the other guys give you for $50k by the time you've added all the features that the Titan comes standard with that the other guys make you pay for... like a v8 engine, push-button start, a dampened tailgate, sliding rear window, cruise control, power locks and windows, led bed lights, fender liners, soft-touch door armrests, and the most standard safety features in the class.
Absolutely!! Loaded Titans appear expensive but with Nissan rebates and dealer incentives, one can get a great discount. Of course these days are not normal markets and discounts are less. I went to check out a Tundra in May 2021 and they said no discount. Then stopped by the sales when servicing my toyota suv and the markup on a tundra was $19,999. What?
If Tacoma and Frontier are similar then the Frontier is going to need to undercut the Tacoma price to gain market share when up against the well established segment leader, the Tacoma.
as someone who is a fan of the Frontier, you are absolutely correct. the Frontier stands no chance if they're similarly priced unless people are that brand loyal.
That's right. Not to say Nissan will not get sales (because I'm sure this beautiful beast will sell). But to actually dent the segment leader's sales, they'll have to beat them where it matters most, in the consumer's wallets.
I have a 2019 Taco with 3.5 & AT. Transmission is horrible. At highway speed and need a little extra power press on gas and nothing happens. Press a little more and it downshifts 2 gears and suddenly takes off. Dealer says that is normal and makes it get better gas mileage. I’d gladly give up some mpg for better drive ability.
I dig it. I have a last gen Frontier that has been bulletproof (I only mention because Toyota people act like Toyota is the only one who can make a reliable vehicle). Looking forward to seeing the updated Tacoma in a couple years (assuming another 10 year generation), but this Frontier will probably be my next truck. Just giving the new powertrain another year to see if any issues pop up as the 2020's start to get higher mileage. I can see visual similarities with individual parts, but I don't think these two look similar as a whole.

@@DropTheBunny that's nonsense, Toyotas just have bad seating positions. My Hilux is no different. And a Midsize truck is far from a small vehicle, of course people should expect it to have enough room.
@@Flying_GC Its subjective. Whats acceptable to some may not be to others. I just never had an issue with Tacoma seats. They arent as small as they used to be, but they arent passenger vehicles either, even though they have 4 seats. They arent exactly designed for maximum comfort.

Nissan is better in power but the reason toyota is reliable is because toyota keeps rpms and power low for durability and well nissan might be the same way but ive never heard of a nissan truck lasting 1 million miles.
Toyota doesn’t have good bumper to bumper warranty’s…actually lowest in the business. I know it’s the most reliable but if you did get a lemon outside that warranty it could be a problem
Nissan has the warranty forever they been issuing with their new vehicles. Once the bumper to bumper warranty is done, the warranty forever is for the lifetime of the vehicle. But only covers the power train
@@richardstewart7263 5 year 100K bumper to bumper was their last one. So basically if you can get a low interest 5 year/60 month loan with a decent down payment/trade in its a damn good deal. My guess is they are going to seal a lot of these good looking trucks

Between these two trucks , I'd probably pick the Taco. If it was a comparison between the 2024 Tacoma vs this Frontier, hands down the Frontier. The new Tacoma went Turbo, no longer has the V6 and they dont seem nearly as durable...also now made in Mexico.
I will give my 2016 Tacoma to my son in three years and he’ll probably give it to his son. That’s why people love Tacoma. Reliability! I forgot about resale, I can get 33k for my 6 year old truck.
Nobody really goes into the fact that the Nissan is a DI only engine which will cause carbon buildup down the road unless they really addressed the crankcase vent system etc......
Tacoma is everywhere but the frontier is nice and has great durability reviews both trucks are good for the small truck segment great for hunting trails with narrow paths, great review Andre and Roman
I have a 2018 Tacoma TRD off road, and love it. I do really like the new Frontier. I think the only issue with the new Frontier is that they only seem to match or slightly edge out the Tacoma, the Tacoma is at the end of its life cycle and the Frontier isn’t even out yet. The Frontier will be a good truck, but it’s going to seem old fast when the next Tacoma (and others) come in the next 1-2 years.

As someone who has owned both, Nissan Frontier is not even in the same league as a Toyota Tacoma. The Toyota Tacoma is far superior. Especially since you can still buy the Tacoma with a manual Aisin Transmission. Nissan's automatic Jatco Transmissions are known to have several problems.
That's how Toyota jacks those reliability ratings up. They design a new vehicle and work all the bugs out of it in the first couple of years and then let it stagnate for 2 decades.
I bought a 2021 last April, has 16,500 miles roughly. It has the 3.8 an the 9 speed transmission 4x4 sv. I honestly have to say this truck nissan has finally got it right, I really like my truck, I put a 3in lift and some 17, 33's, rear locker. This truck is a little tank, its the old body but new technology. I only use my 33's when I go out 4 wheeling, the 18's that came on it are ht tread and get about 23mpg. New and only paid 29.500 + tax. Probably will drive it till the wheels fall off !!
I've never found that to be true. I have found the Nissan trucks I've owned to be very reliable. They biggest problem with the old Frontier (2005+) was the radiator allowed coolant into the transmissions fluid, but they fixed that in 2009-2010. Tacomas have problem with rusting out frames in North America. www.autoweek.com/news/a1857861/toyota-will-settle-truck-frame-rust-suit-suit-34-billion/

@@greatcornholio5541 that's your opinion. I think honda, toyota, and nissan make great looking vehicles
I own a 2015 Frontier Pro 4X and its amazing. I think the new model looks awesome also. They did a great job.
I’m a Toyota man I owned a few Tacoma‘s and I now own a 2020 tundra pro I have to say I think I’d like to Nissan better
What?
@@dave3682 I think Nissan is worried if they price it better than the others, people will think it's a lesser price because it's a lesser truck.

Tacoma fan and owner here
Nissan sales have not been hurt too much, I guess not enough people know that the old CEO is a wanted man 🤔😒
I have a 2019 Taco with 3.5 & AT.

Agree the Tacoma seat doesn’t sit high enough from the floor for my bad back. The seating position seems to stretch’ my legs strait out and feels too much like a car for me.
Always
Never got all the hate on the Tacoma seats. Im 6"1' and never had an issue. It isnt the most spacious or comfortable thing ever, but its a midsize truck; you shouldnt expect it.
Tacomas are terrific but I am (and always have been) a Frontier fan!!
The frontier looks more aggressive than the Tacoma .
Bottom line: best bang for your buck- Nissan

Nissan is better in power but the reason toyota is reliable is because toyota keeps rpms and power low for durability and well nissan might be the same way but ive never heard of a nissan truck lasting 1 million miles.
Id take the Nissan for sure. Curious if Nissan warranty will be better?
Toyota doesn’t have good bumper to bumper warranty’s…actually lowest in the business. I know it’s the most reliable but if you did get a lemon outside that warranty it could be a problem

Agreed. Toyota just needs to make one that’s more gas efficient and it’s game over.

Nissan uses zero gravity seats which are more comfortable.
Roman, knock it off. We are getting tired of you bulldozing your opinions over others. Especially with Andre. He is genuinely excited to show us the new features, but you are constantly talking over him, and rushing him. You are an excellent car reviewer, but when someone else is doing the talking, you should let them talk. Thanks.

I bought a 2021 last April, has 16,500 miles roughly. It has the 3.8 an the 9 speed transmission 4x4 sv. I honestly have to say this truck nissan has finally got it right, I really like my truck, I put a 3in lift and some 17, 33's, rear locker. The Frontier actually has a pretty reliable track record. In a recent episode a Frontier was displayed with over one million miles on it.

I've never found that to be true. I have found the Nissan trucks I've owned to be very reliable.
