    First review with Pillion rider and that's pretty good distance. Mum-Goa and back in good 1300 kms ride. Gives a preview how it's going to fare. Comprehensive Review someone mentioned In the post & I do agree. KTM are master. I am amazed by many post complaining about alloys, ground clearance. We understand as Indian we are just beginning to understand the different category of motorcycle . All we grow up seeing all crapy motorcycle tagged as adventure motorcycle or long distance cruiser. And commenting as done lakhs of kms and done more than 10k hours of riding experience. Coming from KTM Best Adventure/ Enduro motorcycle mfg the package they offerred in 390 Adv is simply phenomenal for our audience. If anything you're asking more than this would be challenging Toby price or Sam Sunderland. Or even our desi champ Mr Santosh. Anyway good reckoner.

    • @OggyF
      @OggyF  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup, they've certainly hit the nail on the head with this one. Hopefully this gets the ball rolling in the segment and we see more manufacturers jumping in and giving us options.

    First off, I was surprised, very pleasantly so, by your video. I'd given up hope of anyone reviewing the baby KTM ADV as what it's really meant to be , a ( not so grand) GT. Especially after my man Ryan F9 missed the mark ( purely from my perspective) in his review. When I want my dirt jollies , I go ride a dirt bike. This was spot on serendipity, because it's the first time I came across your channel. Please please keep it up, you're an articulate breath of fresh air.

    The best english speaker Indian rider to review KTM 390 Adv, so far. Thanks for your comprehensive structured review on this motorcycle. It helps me a lot for a better confident on this upcoming unit to my country. I have watched lots of review on KTM 390 Adv, most common issues that I notice is that Low End power of this unit is not strong enough, thus need to change the sprocket either front only or rear only. Would you agree on this? Thanks.

    Idk if there's any cool places apart from jammu and lonavla, but if you visit the south with the adventure 390, you've got to go to coorg and ooty and do off roading there cause wading through random streams and kacche roads is just too much fun. Great review Oggy! I had the adventure for the weekend and did about 300 odd kms on it and it's a lot of bike for the money that you're paying for! I think it a jack of many trades, touring being on top of that list! It's definitely not perfect, but it's drawbacks aren't deal breakers by any means at the price point! Just wish we got adjustable suspensions as an add-on option from ktm...and that quick shifter was really temperamental to the point where I just used the clutch instead!

    • @OggyF
      @OggyF  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you. Yes, I did feel like the quickshifter was a bit off but I've heard owners say that it works better after the first service. Adjustable suspension is something they should definitely consider looking at the response the motorcycle received. Let's hope they do it soon.

      Thank you Anjali. Considering this was a media motorcycle, it's been through a lot before I got to ride it and the throttle response at startup was a bit off. After riding it for a minute or 2, it worked fine. Didn't mention this cause I spoke with other owners who never experienced it and the other tie I rode the adv 390 at the launch event, I didn't experience this issue. Other than that, no complaints. Regarding the headlight that needs adjustment when you load the bike up with gear:
    that is what the rear preload adjustment is for, the rear goes down with luggage so you crank up the preload in the back to level it out again. like that, the headlight has the correct angle again.

For now, the tyres do the job well in most conditions we experienced on this trip. That auto-switching of the TC when the bike shuts off is something KTM should have a look at considering how many people are complaining about it. Thank you for watching. Ride safe ✌🏻😊

    Hi buddy this is very educative review! Thankfully no frills no beating around the bush. It's quite precise yet very informative. Well done bro!
    One doubt though. How is the low end torque and gear ratio. Does it require far too many downshifts on speed breakers?

    • @OggyF
      @OggyF  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the feedback and kind words. Wrt to the low end torque, gears 1 and 2 are pretty short so you'll end up shifting between them quite often at lower speeds and there is a decent amount of torque available. The motor is also pretty tractable in those gears. I usually tried to keep the bike in 2nd or 3rd gear for most of my time stuck in traffic at lower speeds. I've watched and read reviews where other owners have switched the front sprocket to that from the Duke 250 and this has resolved the lack of torque in the first few gears. Hope that helps answer your question. Ride safe.

    absolute clarity and coverage from all aspects, great review :).. what's the sweet spot( comfortable cruising speed) on this bike ? looking forward for a Himalayan BS6 touring review..

      Thank you. We were able to cruise easily between 90 - 110kmph (with saddlebags and a pillion). The bike would've been comfortable at 130 too but there was a lot of traffic that day.

    • @OggyF
      @OggyF  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The most effective mirrors I've seen on any motorcycle are the ones on the Vstrom. Big and ugly AF buy they do the job so well. If it's possible to get those on this, I'd do that.

    @valindo 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Beautiful review, first comprehensive one I've seen that actually speaks about the touring capabilities while you're actually touring ( with a pillion that too! ).
    I had a quick question tho, what do you think of the seat height, I wanted to get a better understanding if a shorter rider would be comfortable on this bike ( Would riding boots help with the height ? ).
    Looking forward to your opinion on this.
    P.S ( I am not sure if you spoke about the ride height, but if you did, sorry I missed it :/ )

    • @OggyF
      @OggyF  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Valindo. Thank you for the comment and for watching. The seat height maybe a bit intimidating for some but it's not a deal breaker. I have friends who are 5"5 who still ride the motorcycle in city traffic without major issues. Riding boots would definitely make it easier at a standstill.

    1. How was it to ride at triple digits (if u have)?
    2. The quickshifter on touring how helpful was it?

    • @OggyF
      @OggyF  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1. We could comfortably cruise between 90 - 120 without any issues . The motorcycle could handle it. The additional traffic didn't allow.
      2. Didn't use the quickshifter much cause it didn't feel smooth. Owners I've spoken with say that it gets better after the first service though. It would be nice to have it for touring specially if you're riding longer distances and want to give your left arm some rest.
      PillyP will continue to troll. No doubts about that. Thanks for watching brother. Ride safe :D

    In your opinion, if you had to pick a bike between BMW g310 gs and ktm 390 adv just on the long range rider comfort which would it be. I feel as a VFM package with the electronics the kTM has the BMW beat, but what are your thoughts on pure comfort in our indian roads.

    Hi Oggy,
    First of all! Big Fan!!!
    I just absolutely love your content.
    I am facing a question when it comes to buying my next bike. I took a test ride of the Adventure 390 but i feel that 855mm seat height is a bit too much for me (I am 5'6"). And now I am wondering that can the Duke 390 BS6 model with just about 151mm ground clearance handle the touring? I am really looking forward for an answer from you that might help me shape my decision.

    So far I see Rpha helmets are best for sports motorcycle tucked in posture.

    • @OggyF
      @OggyF  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      No issues whatsoever. The RPHA fits me very well (snug) and is extremely light too. Ventilation works well while tucked in and when sitting upright. Only issue with it is the peripheral vision is somewhat hampered but not to a great extent.
