@@samurai-c8g4s sorry did not understand your question. MEA has outsourced the work in Canada to BLS and VFS in US, Singapore, Australia to name a few. You may have to check with country where you are on this. If this helps
They declined my application because I missed including the province in my address. Now, they’re asking me to either book a $100 appointment to refill the form or return and wait in line for 3 hours again, in this freezing weather. Please make sure to include the province in both your address and your emergency contact address to avoid this hassle! Hope it will help others

@Canada1989 hi no need for online photos. What u need to do is call the BLS. They will tell u exactly what is needed. If u use their courier services u dont have to submit canadian passport or the certificate.

Sorry did not get your question. Is it after filing of application or in general. 3 months after getting citizenship is a good time. If you have filled application there is no deadline as such with BLS but sending application as early as possible will speed up getting the surrender certificate

@@school77231 you submit surrender certificate application first... Wait till you get it and then apply for the OCI application. OCI application requires you to attach the surrender certificate with the OCI application hence you cannot do both at the same time.

When you call them, they will take down passport details and then send link 🔗 to payment gateway on your 📧 email. Once payment is done you will get package label which you need to print and send it when purolator representative comes home to collect. He/she will usually bring the package-envelope with him

Hi. 2 days back i went to bls office to surrender my passport. In emergency details in form i filled name phn no of my husband. But they said there is a option of address which is missing in form. I said there is just one space in front of name and address so how can we fill nane and address both in one given space. They said you can write name of the person and thn comma , thn address of person. So they declared my form incomplete and ask me to come again . But they know very well there was no appointment available. so they said they would charge 45 dollar extra nd fill that form again. I had no option so i let them fill the form . So please fill complete information otherwise this could happen with you also.bcz i noticed most of people filled same like me and were paying extra dollars. Thank you
Hi firstly emergency contact is not mandatory and for this reason they cannot say form is incomplete. Many had been complaining about this tactics being employed by BLS agents. Since you have ARN of filled application you must complain to MEA and ask BLS for refund. Did you note down the agents name?

your video at 7:30 i.e. Canadian address when I visited Mississauga BLS for surrender of my Indian passport: a. they mentioned you have not mentioned "ON" hence they told me that application will get rejected and I have to correct it. There were no other mistakes at all. Is this even really a mistake, as with postal code its unique address and there is no field for province in the address section. b. My daughter's photo had white part line at bottom so they rejected that photo and we had to click photos of 3 of us. They kept one photo and returned one (hope i can use that for OCI and can use scan copy of that same photo to upload for oci). c. they charged 88 + tax ie 100 CAD per person for 3 of us as part of premium lounge services (courier charges, photo and form correction) however they didnt give me breakdown of this amount just verbally told 53 for courier 18 for photo and remaining for form correction. d. do you think any of the above charges or wrong or i have scope of escalation? e. do bls give soft copy of the photo they click?

Hi Checklist is nothing but what you are submitting as document. As long as you have all right document and that is listed it will be fine. Don’t stress out too much

I am highly confused about pickup courier service. I called BLS today and my call was cancelled multiple times. I am thinking to opt for pickup dropoff service but it says that demand draft needs to cover courier fees however, there is no mention of how much courier fee would cost.
Hi please note that for CGI and BLS processing fee you will have to take draft separately. For courier fee BLS will send you link to your email id for payment part. Hope this helps

Hi Sir since you have chosen this option there are three payment involved 1. Draft in name of CGI or HC depending on where Calgary resident need to send which I am hoping you are aware of. 2. Draft in name of BLS and 3. Payment for pick up and drop which can be done once BLS sends their payment link. Feel free to let me know if you need any assistance

Hi Priya I send my OCI application draft (combined for all applicant for CGI and combined for all applicants for BLS fee) and had no problem. As long as application is complete it will not be issue. For minor address proof parents valid id card like drivers license will do

Yes Drivers license is accepted as proof of address. You just need to self attested copies. Except India passport which will get punched and sent back you don’t send any originals.

No you are required to have your Canadian passport at Toronto Jurisdiction.

Hi for CGI and BLS fee you still need demand draft. Only thing you can pay online is pick up and drop facility

You apply with new name for record and attach the copy of name change document as with surrender application your US passport too will get attached.

Great Video - I have question regarding Family Details section for Spouse's Nationality - 6:54 of the video. Like me and my wife are both Indian Citizen (Indian Passport holder) and now both of us have received our Canadian Citizenship (Canadian passport) so while filling in the respective application for Surrender of Indian Passport, what should be the Spouse Nationality mentioned - Indian or Canadian? when I visited Mississauga BLS for surrender of my Indian passport:
a. they mentioned you have not mentioned "ON" hence they told me that application will get rejected and I have to correct it. There were no other mistakes at all. Is this even really a mistake, as with postal code its unique address and there is no field for province in the address section.
b. My daughter's photo had white part line at bottom so they rejected that photo and we had to click photos of 3 of us. They kept one photo and returned one (hope i can use that for OCI and can use scan copy of that same photo to upload for oci).
c. they charged 88 + tax ie 100 CAD per person for 3 of us as part of premium lounge services (courier charges, photo and form correction) however they didnt give me breakdown of this amount just verbally told 53 for courier 18 for photo and remaining for form correction.
d. do you think any of the above charges or wrong or i have scope of escalation?
e. do bls give soft copy of the photo they click?
Hi you are not the first to go through this. If you have time and patience you can pursue with BLS/CGI/MEA and get refund as Kaustabh got it after watching my how to get refund from BLS video

I am highly confused about pickup courier service. I called BLS today and my call was cancelled multiple times. I am thinking to opt for pickup dropoff service but it says that demand draft needs to cover courier fees however, there is no mention of how much courier fee would cost.
Hi please note that for CGI and BLS processing fee you will have to take draft separately. For courier fee BLS will send you link to your email id for payment part. Hope this helps

I fail to understand, how to make a payment of $ 168 as processing fee? Will they send me a link to pay $168 after the receipt of my application thereat for the surrender of Indian passport? Hi Sir since you have chosen this option there are three payment involved
1. Draft in name of CGI or HC depending on where Calgary resident need to send which I am hoping you are aware of.
2. Draft in name of BLS and
3. Payment for pick up and drop which can be done once BLS sends their payment link. Feel free to let me know if you need any assistance

Hi Priya I send my OCI application draft (combined for all applicant for CGI and combined for all applicants for BLS fee) and had no problem. As long as application is complete it will not be issue. For minor address proof parents valid id card like drivers license will do

Yes Drivers license is accepted as proof of address. You just need to self attested copies. Except India passport which will get punched and sent back you don’t send any originals.
