      I’ve used this feature of NotebookLM on a few books already, including one of my own, and it has really impressed me. I did notice it was less accurate when applied to my own novel mind you, so perhaps it’s not entirely there yet, and it does seem to dodge talking about some potentially controversial subjects, such as the dangers of polyunsaturated seed oils, in the Ray Peat books I’ve used it on. So it’s still somewhat guardrailed, but I suppose you’d expect that from Google.

That's why it's sad that we already have so many monopolies on things we use everyday. UBI may be a necessity once AI and robotics really start hitting the job market.
    One of the questions to be pondered is whether the decision-makers will feel it should be adopted and then whether they will sanction its deployment.
    History shows that the needs and wants of the masses are often, ahem, "overlooked" by the ruling class's desires.
    The argument that people will need money in order for the rich to stay rich hinges on the current economic model, which could be replaced and actioned outside of UBI, with significantly less world population and with the resulting fall in consumption of scarce resources.
    Just thinking out loud...

    • @Mavrik9000
      @Mavrik9000 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      You are correct. Robots look like a solution for companies to make more money, but if you extrapolate a few years along this path, it's a race to the bottom. Robots don't buy products or use services like a human does. If every worker gets replaced by a robot, then the companies need to share the productivity increases with all the human workers. But they never do that because stock shareholders always want more money, so soon in this cycle no one will be able to afford even the new lower cost products and the whole economy stagnates and implodes. So it's Universal Basic Income or literally nothing.

    oh wow. this is getting scary. Ive been quite proud of myself for being able to identify, quite quickly, AI generated voice-overs using AI written scripts in TH-cam videos. There are certain tells in the way it reads text and doesn't quite match natural language.
    But there were times in this example where the talking exchanges sounded very natural, and I was doubting my ability to be able to tell.
    What's this going to be like in 2 years? 5 years, or 10 years?!
    I thought my time would be over before I witnessed anything near this kind of tech, but here we are..

      They're deeply unsettling for me. I read lips a lot, which I didn't realise until so many people started to wear a mask. These things are lousy at convincing lip-synch.

    • @WillArtie
      @WillArtie 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@CyberiusT oh yeah the masks. I never really thought about that with lip reading, that would be suddenly quite weird.
      I guess I'm talking more about the audio, not so much the visuals which, although are very detailed representations of humans talking, don't really gel with the speech very well, like you are saying.
      I wonder what further training and/or models need to be implemented to get a reliable, convincing talking person where someone like you would find it hard to tell? It's like a close, dynamic interplay between the waveform and the lip forms, not to mention all the other head, hands and body movements we make during speech.
      Thanks for replying!

      I think an important point here is also that what is released is usually a poor representation of where the tech actually is.
      Between the various leaders in this space, the tech is already a lot better than this.
      This is just what the plebes get to play with.

And it absolutely fucking nailed it - didn't miss a single thing with it, it was wild how well it read the entire thing. The emotions they put in and where they showed that emotion or the different tone of voice or whatever you'd say. Fucking wild stuff, and all of it is free. Pretty fucking cool
