I wish we standardized on 50-110 instead of 45-70. Its plenty for North American game but you can almost always downgrade the ammo, would allow 1 chambering to fire everything from elephant loads to something equivalent to .500 S&W Special

If u watch Kentucky Ballistics latest video ,I believe it came out sometime last week he has just acquired an a square rifle called .577 trex it fire a 750 grain solid brass bullet at around 2400 fps,claiming over 10000 lbs of muzzle energy it is tremendous as it blew up multiple containers of salad dressings and like 4 big water cooler jugs in a row,he also claims 1 round costs over$100 to buy.Then he goes and puts down a 45/70 lever gun, I believe he was referring to the 1 used in the last l jurassic Park movie to hunt raptors,I think if Scot saw this 50/110 or even better the 50/140 sharps firing and destroying its target I think he would have a change mind on his position of leverguns
That bullet weight is probably my favorite 50 Cal and it does a super awesome job… From what I can see in the video on both ends! The term king of the hill comes to mind! Thanks for sharing!

Love that 50-110 just curious do you use gas checks on your hard cast bullets? I always try to get gas checked projectiles for my 45-70 if I expect them to be going over 1600 fps and that’s most of my loads I usually shoot 300 and 405 grain hard cast .
I do use gas check bullets sometimes, most of these heavy bullets never get much over 2300 FPS I rarely ever use hard cast I like my bullet stick span on impact, I usually just powder coat them real good

Since it is Starline brass I’m sure it will take anything any reasonable pressure probably 60,000 psi in the right kind of firearm that will handle that kind of pressure should be fine, the brass is pretty thick , i’m putting upwards of 45,000 psi

We’ve contacted Shiloh sharps and because this is an older gun that was made in New York before the current owners, they don’t have a pressure rating on this one, The new ones they claim are as strong as a Ruger number one, so I’m keeping this to the black powder pressure levels but we’re getting some pretty velocities out of it

I have taken a deer with it at 164 yards with no problem my average range is only about 50 yards
What brinell hardness was the bullet usually 22 bernal if there's an error in some words spelled my talk-to-text microphone isn't cooperating have you shot those at 50 yards
