My Marlin Bobcat just arrived from Bikesonline, the first thing I was impressed with is the packaging, no plastic wrapping, no ghastly styrofoam, just cardboard and masking tape. Not sure who to thank for this but it is much appreciated, a commitment to the environment in a practical application. Also I love how the packaging becomes a stand for the bike, great for those who do not have an actual bike stand. I am nearly 70, have been riding for 60 years, still love the trails and the freedom of mountain biking, looking forward to building my first bike and thank you for all the tutorials.
@@marin_bikes This company sucks. They give you lower specification bikes than what you ordered. Then tell you tough shit.....just ask their customer service rep Martha Lemen. Jippo company.
Nice detailed video. But, I received the "smaller box" recently (Rift Zone 2) and as one other noted the "Rear wheel is not mounted.. Also no tools." Along with this the discs were not mounted to the wheels, the brake calipers were not mounted to the frame/forks, the entire fork was separate and needed to be mounted to the tube (fork and headset), the bars were not installed and had to be mounted to the headset, the dropper post had to be connected, installed and adjusted, the dropper remote lever had to be installed on the bars, all the levers and controls on the bars along with the bars themselves had to be repositioned (it would have been unaidable the way it came) and there were absolutely NO assembly instructions (or tools as noted) in the box. I also had to spend a bit of time adjusting the derailer to get things shifting smoothly and quietly. If you're mechanically inclined none of this should be an issue (or a surprise?) but I just wanted to make a note for others watching this video. I highly recommend using a bike work stand for assembly. Good luck all!
Hi - please reach out to our customer service department at customer.service@marinbikes.com, as it sounds like the selling dealer did not prep the bike as they were supposed to do.
Do all Marin models in the box come with a toolkit used in this video? Also, where can I find the correct torque when assembling the bicycle? Is it always written near the bolts or..?
Hi - the tool kits are included when a bike is purchased via one of our retail partners that are authorized to ship directly to riders. These bikes are pre-built/inspected by those retailers prior to shipping. The torque values are generally printed on the specific component, like the stem. We do etch them into pivot bolts and axles as well,.

When i assembled my Rift Zone 23 something curious happened. Rear shock bolt (lower) snapped at 8NM where max torque is 12NM. Have you guys heard of this or maybe it weas just bad luck or material flaw ? I temporarily used a screw from an older model.

Not at all - we have had a few retailers who are certified to ship bikes to riders, but only after they pull the bike from the box and give it a once-over. This just helps riders with the final assembly.

I just got an Alcatraz and it's the most fun I've ever had on a bike. Highly recommend if you're looking for a jumper.
Rear wheel is not mounted when you get the smaller box. Also no tools. Helpful to have the video cover that.
