    Half my family lives in Mexico. I've gone there to have shoes made for years; the bookmaking tradition is so strong there. I think they make as-good or better boots than many American handmakers. And they've been doing it for hundreds of years now.

    SIZING - Perhaps updated since this posted… 1.5 size down from your average true size. 1/2 size down from you Branock or whatever…. Good info to work with a boot shop or trace your foot as the site recommends

    If you're concerned about them being made in Mexico, everyone needs to keep in mind, I believe the leather used for those is Seidel from Milwaukee.
    So, most components, the leather and Vibram soles are at least made in the USA.

    • @666Necropsy
      @666Necropsy 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If they were using a well known leather why wouldnt they state that? if they are not advertising it, its most likely a cheaper product.

    • @Condor1970
      @Condor1970 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@666Necropsy ... I'm honestly not sure. Seidel is a good standard heavy duty leather product. Not the considered best on the market for beauty though. I do know that some other brands, like Bordon made in Columbia do advertise they use W&C leather, but for Drew's I'm not sure why. Maybe the officiandos don't really consider Seidel a niche high end product like W&C or Horween... not sure.

      I just home and got them on my feet. One correction. I got 8.5D not E. I'm glad i did get the D's as these are much wider than my Franks and Nick's. But WOW! You're right they are comfy but super stiff right now. The sock liner is a full thickness piece of leather smooth side up. I feel the arch support a lot more and no lumps like i have in the other two.

    awesome video! im thinking about making the switch from wedge soles to PNW style boots, and was wondering if the high arch and lug sole is still as comfortable on concrete as wedge soles? i clock in around 10 miles a day on mostly flat surfaces and im not sure if the switch will be worth it, thanks!

    • @maxwellhouseranch1004
      @maxwellhouseranch1004  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wore wedge soles and still do, however when you switch over (if you've never worn this style of boot before) it will take some time to adjust. With that being said the benefits in the long run are worth it. I wear these and other brands just like it all day on concrete and if I wear wedge soles all day my feet, back and knees hurt. That's not the case with these boots, and your foot health will be better as well, your feet will be dry with an all leather non synthetic boot. Just wear high quality wool socks, like darn tough, put cedar trees in your boots at the end of your day, and you'll never look back. I hope this helps in your boot journey

    These are the same price but have some better options than the MTO Franks Patriot but lack others like safety toes, basically the same lead time as well. But I think that it's a better choice to support American workers and buy the Franks Patriot, even if it's all smooth out unless you fit in their standard sizing and and got the ready to ship smooth/ rough out.
    It could be your job getting outsourced to Mexico one day.

    • @scottc77
      @scottc77 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Frank’s didn’t have my size in stock on the Patriot so I ordered them in my size in black, an email later they agreed to do a smooth upper rough out lower in a steel toe configuration for me. Took about 8 weeks. I still would like to get a pair of Drew’s budget logger and was told a safety toe option is in the works. So many of my Hispanic coworkers talk about the boots made in Leon and the quality of them. I know my Thursdays were made there but mine are Chelsea’s and are rarely worn except on the occasional out to dinner night with the wifez

    I get the pricing issue with boots. If one can afford it I recommend patronizing American makers and workers but everyone has to make their own decisions on that issue for sure. Most boots for most workers can justify paying a couple of hundred more as they will generally last for years and one can have that pride in supporting American workers.

    • @maxwellhouseranch1004
      @maxwellhouseranch1004  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For sure, one thing I neglected to mention is the cow hides are coming from America or Canada. I had an extensive conversation with One of the owners of Drew's, Kyle Baker and he put a lot of work into making sure this boot would be just as good as any American Made Boot, he achieved that goal for sure. Thanks for your comments, I appreciate the feedback.

    • @bozartg
      @bozartg ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@maxwellhouseranch1004 I'm sure it's a great boot. Just a fact that it's made in Mexico and this' isn't to malign foreign workers just to make sure people know that using American Skilled Craftsmen is important and will cost a bit more. When we're talking about a custom boot, most can afford a bit more and will realize that this matters more today than when we (USA) had a monopoly on manufacturing.

  • @joeb5183
    @joeb5183 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Man the PNW logging boot brands have been hitting it out of the park on price. JK, Franks and Drew’s are all spec’d very close for $350.
    I paid $550 for a Frank’s logging boot. For what is worth I would have tried one of these first. Usually the way they cut costs is using different tanneries or different part of the cow hide but it’s still 8oz leather and the construction is the same as a boot that costs $200 or more over the cost of these boots.

    If it wasn't for the criminal U.S. government with all its regulations, taxes, etc., Mexican labor wouldn't be so much cheaper. The whole system is screwed up and corrupted, intentionally, so that it's extremely difficult and expensive to manufacture in the U.S. It's all by design, and it's malicious. I think these boots prove that Mexican craftsmanship can surpass U.S. craftsmanship. Leon Mexico isn't called the shoe capital of the world for nothing.
