About Take Profit levels... if you had a buy position and you want to automatically take 50% out when it reached a profit level of, say, 1:2, would you set up a Limit Sell Order at the first take profit level for half of your position?
Great video, thanks. I have had Oanda account ever since I started trading Forex and have always traded in units so I don't even think in lot sizes. Gives much more control over the amount you are risking.
I was scouring youtube google and couldnt find anything but tutorials about trading this is exactly what i was looking for! thank you now i can get out of this short position good thing its only on paper trading hitting roadblocks would be terrible in live markets😁😁😁
On tradingview is a way to close out of a trade without having to confirm it ... even the flatten button makes you still confirm the close ... and suggestions? thanks.
I just moved from MetaTrader to Trading View, I always closed positions manually, for example I barely used stop and take profits tools, but here im not sure that if I close position manually my profit goes or reflects positive. Can I do it? or has to be under the Buy limit option?
hiii plzz reply. you have cleared one of my biggest doubt but i still have one what is a unit like is it in base currency or what and which currency do i get the profits. please tell.
After I did this in the paper trading, my trade disappeared with no profit shown. I did it using the on-screen sell/buy. I supposed I should have done it in the actual "Buy/Sell" window?
thanks for the great video🙂. I have 2 questions, once I hit 2R can this process be automated in trading view? 2. you said metatrader 4 was left in the dust. Just curious why you switched to trading view🤔 ?
I would like to be able to close my trade automatically, i.e., while I'm away from the trade. If it reverses, say.. just beyond the .0618 Fib, where I placed my SL. I have both MT4 and TV. Thank you 😊
What if you have multiple positions open and need to partial out of one position but not the other? Assuming that all positions are either all long or all shorts.
Hi Austin thanks for the great video. quick question once you've entered the trade can you use a buy / sell stop order to remove partial profits without being at the market, or does it have to be a market order. thanks in advance
@@AustinSilverFX hey Austin im having some trouble with understanding leverage and i can't find any information on youtube that answers it. Can you help me?
So this was very helpful. It answered some questions I’ve had. Would you consider doing a lesson on a related topic: scaling in and scaling out using limit orders? I appreciate your matter-of-fact style.
Hey Austin. Thank you! Been an Oanda Meta Trader 4 for about 10 yrs. Just switched to TV a couple weeks ago to trade stocks as well. Love the interface much better. Question: Do you know if you can do a partial close with stock shares? Seems like it would work the same, right?
Great content and thanks for taking the time to put it out there..also a quick question about Oanda..are you able to trade metals or anything other than pairs..Im in FL and called them and they said i cant do metals..i cant even do crypto
No you cant trade crypto or commodities with oanda, its tough to find a regulated brokers that offer those markets. If youre in FL, you should be coming to our event in Miami in June
@@AustinSilverFX thanks for the quick response..so you dont trade those things at all? Also whats the details on your event (probably working but ya never know)
Doesnt work with limit orders. Was in profit on my long position - ive set a sell limit ( close the half of my position ) but ive only ended up with 2 open positions : my first long one, and then a new short one - hedge style :) so the second sell limit order didnt partially close my previous long one 🤐🤣
@Ty P , Absolute nonsense, I found this video really helpful, and addressed a number of issues I couldn’t find anywhere else. Brilliant job Austin. Many thanks 😃
Great video definitely helpful information. My only issue with taking partials is that it will significantly reduce the profitability of a trade. I have a software package that shows the difference when you take partials and it's pretty major. However I guess it's a tradeoff that allows for protecting downside risk.
Austin - Not sure if you mentioned this in another video or in the course (only halfway through) but do you use market, limit, or stop orders for your strategies on Trading View?
I have a question to all of you who can help me to understand: I am new and I keep hearing the keywords: EXIT, CLOSING your trade, are these words have the same significative, are the same. or each one means different? I know what is a Stop-loss....Thank you..
OMG!!!!!!! Thank you sir! This has helped me a lot. And you are a good teacher and good communicator. Wow...this is something that a broker wouldn't want you to know. lol #jewels
you were supposed to show us how to close trade and I am 2 mins and 35 seconds in the video and you just rambled.... it literally takes to seconds, srry bro but that just gave me a headache .........
If you hit the X at your opening position it gives you the option to close partials 🤣🤣🤣 your going a hard and over complicated way too do it. Simply press in the X and change the figure of how much you wish to close and then everything updates automatic 😂😂

I tried this and it enters a short, instead of partially closing the long... :/
I have been searching for this answers all over . Crazy that you did this and answered my question
. Super helpful!
I'm glad it helps Bridget, I'm glad you're on the team :)
I was in the same boat. I have wondered how to do this for so long. I googled and could never figure it out. Thanks Austin.
I'm trying to follow the method but it keeps on either buying me in or selling me short, not partially closing?? what am I doing wrong?
This was extremely helpful, been looking for the answer on other pages
Im glad :)
does this work for futures & stock
Thanks Austin, very useful. Why do you use the FX Trading app to trade if Tradingview has the functionality? Thanks
As a backup, just in case tradingview acts up. Thanks for watching my friend :) appreciate it
What if hedging enabled ? Do you think it will work?
I dont know enough about it to answer for sure
Hi Austin, can you confirm if this function is only available on the paid version of tradingview?
Hey my bro, how do you keep that order info panel on the right? I dont know how to do that
Pop out the dock!
@@AustinSilverFX wow im so dumb dumb. thanks my bro
Brother do you have a vedio showing how to intigrate Ouanda to tradingview
How do you set multiple take profits at different RR ratios? if i wanted to close 50% position at 1:1, and the 2nd 50% at 1:2?
You cant as far as i know.
@@AustinSilverFX damn, thats actually really annoying.
Can we do the same if we have a take profit set up already?
yes

Thanks! Been trying to figure this out for ages!
Glad I could help!
hmm and how to put pending orders?
What happens if the Stop is then hit first. The pending order would still be active. not good
If the pending order is placed the stop loss would take you out. I dont use pendings its too risky
