- Take your next steps in learning how to employ the RDI radar in the Mirage 2000C, looking closely at the fundamentals of close combat, auto-acquisition modes. Develop an appreciation of the Mirage's boresight mode, vertical scan mode, SVI mode, BAH & BA2 horizontal scan modes, and the RRAS Slave to TDC Cursor mode.
This tutorial takes place on the Caucasus map in DCS World.
Reiver uses the English variant of the Mirage 2000C cockpit, because he is an uneducated barbarian.
Reiver is not a hardcore milsim-er - he just likes playing the game well - if you're looking for something more authentic, please consult the flight manual.

best series of tutorials on M2000. great work, thank you.
You're welcome and thank you!
Great tutorial again! Thank You!
You're welcome. Took a bit longer to get it finished than normal due to IRL matters. More coming soon.
Great tutorial. Thanks :)
Thank you and you're welcome!
Nice video and as ever verry usefull, THX and greetings from the north of bavaria ;)
Vielen dank!
Thanks bro
You're welcome.
thanks!
You're welcome!
Would it be fair to say, since RAS is used in interleaved mode, that its more intended for slow targets? Your video on other a2a radar functions mentions interleaved and brf modes being able to see raw contacts that the computer doesnt want to track. In the case of your c-130, you could watch for the blip, set the designator over it, and close the distance until it auto locks.
Great question. That is indeed fair to say. The most efficient way you could directly lock-up a raw BFR contact would be to use RRAS. BFR is certainly better for identifying slow moving targets like the C-130. The limitation of RRAS is that you have to close the distance to within 10 nm before it locks but nevertheless, it can be used effectively against large, slow moving, low-threat targets.
Great tutorial for new guys. You forgot the magic mode (CNM magic keybind). Pressing it will quickly switch from whatever is selected (gun, 530s, whatever) to magics (IR missiles) and you can then manipulate with boresight or vertical modes as usual with using magics selected. This is very usefull when the enemy come within 5 to 10 miles and thers no much time to pick the magics in regular way described in your video. There is also a keybind "CNM neutral" which brings back the earlier (regular) selection.
Thank you!
I didn't forget - all of that is covered in the Magic 2 tutorial video.
@@reiver1-1 Thanks, I missed that one.
@@gnomisa No worries! My tutorials are structured in such a way as to pace things out to avoid cognitive overload - a bit different to other series.
@@reiver1-1 But very good approach and I like additional info with french names.
@gnomisa Malheureusement, mon accent français est épouvantable!
you should show your key mappings as they change and i got lost following this tutorial because of this wepon system command mode isnt in the list of key mappings
Hi there,
I've just checked and it is; the correct spelling of the mapping is "Weapons SystemCMD FWD", "Weapons SystemCMD AFT" and "Weapons SystemCMD Depress". You'll find it under the HOTAS category.
I'm not quite sure what the use case would be for Ras mode? Seems too cumbersome to use to quickly lock onto something. Maybe if you want to lock up a specific aircraft in a group and can't tell them apart on the radar screen?
Yes, you have to work quickly to achieve a level of functionality with RAS. I have used it in the past when flying with a wingman and intercepting bomber formations, where we have agreed to target particular elements. A similar outcome can obviously be achieved using boresight mode, but if the distance between the elements is small, RAS just gave that little bit more clarity in selecting the targets. Despite this, it isn't a mode I use very often.
Where can I download the chart from 6:59?
