I asked the hard drive recovery guy. To put less strain on the broken reader heads, he used special hardware that could read the disk without any initialisation or extra work the drive usually does on start up. He only recovered a small segment, but it was enough to rebuild the video!

I think there are some additional factors that could be discussed here:
-how limitations foster creativity (the short format of the videos)

-highly addictive and time-consuming format of the app, with no breathing room between videos + permanent auto-play

I have to say that TikTok out of everything I have see is the stupidest website or content I have see. Even music videos are usually 3 - 5 minutes long. If you literally have the attention span that you can't focus on something for 3 minutes you are a lost cause and will never be able to accomplish anything in the real world. TikTok from what I have seen is people doing lip syncing, terrible dancing, and horrible jokes. All the laziest kind of content you can put out. Yup that's how it goes. Kids in general don't wana be associated with old people because all they see is old people do old things like go to work etc and think it's boring. Snapchat initially burst onto the scene because adults (parents) couldn't get into it straight away and was focused around a younger auidience, soon as old people touchned it that shit died.
