Both groups dis this extremely well, but I love Foxes and Fossils, both the harmonies of the vocals and the incredible instrumentals. They can sing anything!

The guys in Home Free sing like we all imagine we can sing when we're belting out our favorites in the shower. I really loved the Eagles version back in the day too. But, having said that, Home Free made this their own, much like they do with a lot of the covers they do. Good reaction - have a great day! Thanks!

Hi Rebecca! ....and here I thought I actually did have the perfect voice in the shower. Darn! This is just a great song. All three versions are great to listen to. My heart will probably always be with the Eagles though, since I have so many memories listening to that song.

Great video! You HAVE to hear Foxes and Fossils rendition of Suite: Judy Blue Eyes (Crosby, Stills and Nash) among many others but their version of that song actually drew a rave review from Graham Nash himself. Pretty heady stuff for a little homegrown Georgia outfit!

Steve Young (RIP) was the original writer of Seven Bridges Road. Seven Bridges Road (Woodley Road) begins in the city of Montgomery and runs south of town thru Montgomery County.

I'm such a huge fan of both groups and listen to every thing they both put out on TH-cam. I'm still amazed that Foxes and Fossils have such a huge, huge following around the world but do not tour. I don't think I could pick a favorite between these two groups even if I had to and thank goodness I don't have to. Home Free and Foxes and Fossils, two very different yet amazing groups and both well worth the listen. Thanks for the reaction.

Hey Jim. Glad you enjoyed both. I've only heard a few of the F&F songs because I'm holding out for future reactions, but what I've heard has blown me away. I just loved their version of Angel from Montgomery. I listened to it so many times. As usual, HF nailed it.

Home Free covered yet another song and crushed it. They are so stinkin' good. They could cover the dictionary and turn it platinum. They are my guys! There have been songs that I didn't even like, that Home Free has covered and then I love them.

Thanks to Iain Matthews/Michael Nesmith for the arrangement from which the Eagles, HF, and F&F versions are derived. Some, including Nesmith, even say "copied". But none of the above arrangements resemble the original as written by Steve Young. Rita Coolidge also covered with another version.

I grew up listening to the Eagles music. They were known for their harmonies. I absolutely love this cover by Home Free. Their harmonies are so tight & the best in the business. Adam Rupp their beatboxer vocal percussionist is my favorite. Also like the video showing 7 different bridges in Minneapolis. I am not familiar with the other group. They did a nice job of the song. But I prefer just the 5 male voices of Home Free.

Hi. I loved both versions, but I have to admit, I think F&F would be slightly better if they didn't cover up the low end vocals as much as they did. Both were great though!

  • @JoanN63

Home Free cover many songs with the respect of the original. Still, I usually like it better than the original. Because you can have such good voices, it has to reach not only my ears but also my heart and soul. And that is what always succeeds at Home Free. That's why I really love them. 💕Especially with the best but also handsomest beatboxer / vocal percussionist / mouth artist😊💖

If you want to give your ears a real treat, pls react to Harvest Moon. Maggie does the solo & it melts your heart it's so beautiful. And of course I'm a Home Free fan. My fav group is Pentatonix, but I love HF & Voiceplay too. I'm so glad I found someone who likes F&F too!!!

Yep! 100% (about HF)!!!! Been tied to their music for the last 7yrs and still impressed as hell!!! Very respectful on covers, yet they change 'em just a bit so not to be a direct cover. Hard to explain but maybe somewhat understandable ---> Doesn't seem as "covers" to me. And so so many times --- better than the original. Foxes & Fossils -- 1st hearing them. They have a great sound; damn good! Be Safe

I enjoyed TIm Foust's bass in the Home Free version, and the extra harmony at the very end. The ladies in Foxes and Fossils are musical perfection - and the fossils do well on the instrumental backup. Maybe get the two groups together? That would be noting short of stunning.

I am a unabashed F&F fan. So thanks for the review. Let me lead you in a different direction. I don't know if you have ever listened to a beautiful young lady named Lucy Thomas. Truly a voice from Heaven. Okay two songs for you to listen and react to, First Hallelujah and from the play Cats Memory. Both will knock your socks off and if that isn't good enough for you Lucy has a younger sister< Martha and they make absolutely beautiful duets together. Martha is about five years lounger than Lucy and her voice is rapidly catching up to Lucy in quality. Check her out you will not be disappointed

If you liked how Home Free did this one, you should check out the HF cover of Crosby Stills and Nash's "Helplessly Hoping". I think you'd enjoy it. The best part of the HF version is how they unanimously start and stop each note and phrase I believe they did it better than Foxes & Fossils (but they also did that very well). I agree that they nailed it! Thank you for introducing me to Foxes & Fossils! I really enjoyed them.

Done if the kids my daughter used to jam with liked doing this song kind of bluegrassy and that's what this reminded me of. I'll TRY to hold off looking up all their music to you react to them. No promises. 😁 I grew up an Eagles FANATIC and saw them live a couple of times. Anyone who knows me will tell you that Eagles and Skynard are among my all time favorites. Loved this one. 💕💕💕

The Eagles are not the original artist, actually. Steve Young wrote and recorded it in 1969. I found this about a decade or so ago. I am an avid fan of the Eagles and Home Free. It’s a favorite cover from both bands. Foxes & Fossils were really great, as well! I was pleasantly surprised at the cover! I am new to this channel, and will definitely hit the subscribe button after leaving my comments. I love Home Free’s version and won’t say it’s better the the Eagles since they’re both really good. Home Free picked up the tempo on their cover. Adam Rupp really impressed me with his beatboxing with that tempo and those drum sounds! The harmonies from both of these groups you reacted to are stunning. I was a teen in the first half of the 70’s and developed as a fan of the Eagles since my older brother had many albums back then of theirs. I discovered Home Free during their first appearance on the Sing Off in 2013. They’re extremely talented, as you already know.

First time ever hearing Foxes & Fossils. Very impressed, I really like it when the mandolin kicked in. This is an older Home Free cover when Chris Rupp (ball cap) was still with them. This was filmed in the Minneapolis, Minnesota area.. I agree with you that I do not think the Eagles would have any complaints with either cover. Thank you for your continued coverage of Home Free and have a blessed day.

@@ModernLifeForThe70sMind Chris Rupp and his brother Adam founded the group in High School in Minnesota in the 2000/2001 time frame. They toured smaller venues and county fairs for awhile. There big break came in 2013 when they auditioned for the accapella version of American Idol called the Sing-off. They won the Sing-off competition which gave them a recording contract with Sony. Pentatonix won the 2012 Sing-off. They reall took off after the win. In 2016 Chris decided to leave the group to do some other projects. He was replaced by Adam Chance. Home Free and Sony parted ways and today Home Free is an independant producer of the songs which are distributed by You Tube, Patreon, CD and Concert sales. Hope this brief history helps

I didn't think I would like Foxes and Fossils version because in my eyes no one can compare to my boys but, I think they did a respectable job with that song. Their base could have been a little stronger but hey no one can hold a candle to our Tim. HomeFrees harmonies are just so tight and perfect and then Adam gluing it altogether with his percussions. He did even lend his voice to the 5 part harmony. I think the real talent is that they sing with no instruments except their amazing voices which can be found on all their songs and simulating the sound of various instruments. Example is a new one they released by Garth Brooks, "Aint Going Down till the Sun Comes Up " . Give it a listen. You will be blown away. Oh it's only on their Facebook page. Thanks for the reaction.😊✌♥️

Foxes & Fossils are really good and so are the Eagles, but just like the Eagles they are not completely a cappella. Home Free is completely a cappella and they are the best by far! What makes Home Free so great is they make people forget that they don't have musical interments because they are that great!!

    Hey Bob,
To answer your question, The Eagles version did chart. it peaked at #21 on the Billboard Hot 100.
I think I still prefer the original, but all of them are good. I agree with you that both cover versions pay respect to the original, but add just enough to make it their own. I really like the Foxes and Fossils version because of the different dynamic that the female voices bring. Makes me wonder how the Eagles would have sounded if they had a woman singing with them on this song.

Home Free kept making music during the quarantine; they filmed themselves at home then sent the footage to their genius producer who put the clips into incredible videos-American Pie ft. Don McLean is one example!
Please react to their version of Garth Brooks's Ain't Goin Down-maybe listen to Garth's version before your reaction to hear his rapid-fire delivery then see what HF does with the song.
Speaking of quarantine, Sea Shanty Medley and Quarantine were filmed during the quarantine. Quarantine is set to the tune of Billy Joel's Honesty but their lyrics and video is hilarious! Oh, their video of Ain't Goin Down is only available on their Facebook page.

I don’t know if you have commented on this but Home Free version of this song is a big production number whereas Foxes and fossils was done in Tim’s basement in his house in Smyrna, Georgia. As far as I’m aware Home Free is strictly professional F&F are all part timers with the girls having day jobs. Also I think the only reason why this has been covered by anyone is that the Eagles didn’t write this song.

F&F did a nice job, but the voices got hidden behind the instruments when those came in. Also, I thought the F&F were a tiny bit sharp in spots. But they did a nice job. I'm prejudiced, of course, because I am a dedicated Home Fry. Home Free has total respect for the originators of their covers. You should react to their Unchained Melody.
Also, Home Free has done several songs with the originators. God Bless the USA with Lee Greenwood, Elvira with the Oak Ridge Boys, and more. Each performer feels they have been respected by the group. I don't think it can get better than that.

I love both versions of this song, but IMHO Home Free is more polished. I used to sing a capella and barbershop and I can hear some differences between the groups. F&F is very good but I think they would benefit from looking at one another to improve on phrasing. I also heard differences in vowel formation, which is critical for forming harmonics. That being said I heard some terrific harmonics from F&F that Home Free doesn't have, probably due to the young women's voices. The father-daughter duet was special too because they have the same timber in their voices. It sounded like just one voice. I think it's in the genes. As I said, love both versions.

F&Fs vocal tracks are recorded separately, then they sing along to the recording to get the group sing video. Of course Home Free isnt singing on bridges in Minneapolis either.

Apples and Oranges. Same song one is acapella one is not. I prefer the Home Free version although Foxes and Fossils is good and closer to the original.

My choice, Foxes and Fossils rule all the way! They were better than Home Free In My Opinion!

Sorry Eagles, you are great, but you've lost this song to HF.
    Harmonies sharp as a papercut.

Home Free corrected some less than optimal harmony chords, not that Eagles weren't in tune, but not the ideal "ear pleasing" chord. I wondered years ago why Eagles did it that way.

Home Free's liberal use of auto-tuning ad post-production cleaning strip their sound of anything resembling human emotion or effort. F and F using a basement studio singlemic, and thankfully, dynamic and rich harmonics.....hands down F and F is more enjoyable, and vastly mire authentic, than HF pitch perfect robotics.

I have to be honest, I LOVE HF, but I give this one to F&F as well, especially after now listening to it a few times.
