There were screws under the plugs inside the dishwasher. Open the door and on both sides right at the front there are plugs. Remove them and unscrew the screws and it should slide out
Thank You uploader!! 🙏This happens from time to time and for me this easy fix always works at least for a few months. If for whatever reason it doesn't work and anyone ends up having to call a repair tech can they post what their particular reason for the E1 error is?
This is a great video, I'm finding myself cleaning the tray out every 5 weeks or so. Where is the water coming from, and is there a fix? Thank you for your help...
Check your rubber seals around the opening. I would also check to see if there’s a clog in the drain hose. Your problem is that there is a leak somewhere or your water level is getting too high (drain issue).
We get the 1E code and it's a brand new unit, haven't used it once. Any suggestions? The water supply is on so I'm wondering if our water pressure is not sufficient, although our previous Whirlpool worked fine.
Is there anything else u need to disconnect in order to pull the dishwasher out halfway? Obviously shut the breaker but can everything else stay hooked up?
Appreciate the video on the E1 error code. The only time I get this E1 code in Normal mode; the dishwasher works fine in Pot-Scrubber and Delicate modes. Any idea what the source of the problem would be? Thanks in advance for any comment you can provide.
I would start off with the simple things. Clean the filter on the bottom. Check the seals around the opening. Afterwards, I would check my drain lines for clogs.
fixed my LG dw this way: Empty dw of btm rack and filter parts. Dry floor of dw and sop up all water in filter hole in floor. rig shop vacuum to blow thru hose.Stick hose end in hole, tie it there if need be. Run vac for 20 minutes. ck for code cleared or remaining, repeat if necessary. I didn't have to. Joy!
I’d start off with cleaning the filters in the interior bottom. If those look clean, might be a clog in the drain line. You can disconnect it from the sink drain line and force a drain on the dishwasher while simultaneously running a wet/dry vac on the loose dw drain hose end.
Not sure why it happened. Found it in E1 mode near the end of a normal cleaning cycle. I can only think of 2 possibilities. 1) the filters were dirty. And they kind of were and subsequently cleaned. Or 2) there might have been a ladle that was too tall for the utensil tray which prevented the lower spray arm from spinning. In any case, after the fix, the DW has not not entered E1 mode since.
@@chicagohandyman Great vid...how critical is the drain loop height under the sinK? Mine has the loop about 20" above the bottom of the cabinet as specified in the manual but may have lowered and got some backwash? Any comments on this?
I think it could be the way you load your dishwasher. Try not to have bowls in the bottom rack that can focus water towards the front. Also check your rubber seals around the door frame.
This clears the error but NOT the root cause "Why did the water leak out in the first place?' Incorrectly loading the bottom rack of the dishwasher! Look at the video at how a bowl is upside down on the bottom rack. The jets hit the bowl and the water splashes out of the bottom of the door and drips into the sensor area. Load the bottom rack with no pots or bowls that get hit directly by the bottom spray arm (splash water directly towards bottom door seal, door seal is not 100% seal).
I’m not sure yet. But obviously there was a block somewhere and water went into that overflow reservoir. I took out and cleaned the filters on the bottom of the dishwasher in case that was the issue.
Do not place bowls on the bottom rack where water being sprayed from underneath could direct water towards the bottom of the door. Water can get past the seals and flow out of the dishwasher and into that reservoir causing the issue.
Great video👍 just what I needed to know to fix it. The pain was getting the dishwasher out from under the counter🤬
How did you get your dishwasher out from under the counter?
There were screws under the plugs inside the dishwasher. Open the door and on both sides right at the front there are plugs. Remove them and unscrew the screws and it should slide out
This fixed the 4th (and God willing final) problem that I encountered with my dishwasher today.
Did you get it up and running? I have many repair videos on this dishwasher.
I did. Thanks again!@@chicagohandyman
This worked perfectly - THANK YOU! Now, I just have to hope and pray that it doesn’t happen again!!
Glad it helped!
Thank you so much for this video. Very helpful. I was able to fix the problem with my dishwasher right away thanks to you. 😊
You’re welcome!
Thank you . Your video helped me with my LG dish washer. Your are awesome !

E1 or IE?
E1 is when the dishwasher thinks there’s a flood somewhere so it in constrain drain mode.
Hello!
I have a Blomberg Homewiz dishwasher, with the same error. Will this procedure work with mine?
Thank you! This worked for us and was so easy
Awesome! To avoid the E1 error in the first place, avoid loading items on the front right corner on the bottom rack.
Thanks. Worked like a charm. Thanks for taking the time to upload this video!
Thanks for watching!
Thank you, thank you!!!! Worked like a charm. Very helpful!
Glad it helped!!!
Great, exactly my problem. Thank you!
Glad it helped!
any thoughts on why water was sitting in that reservoir ? i vacuum mine out and it refills back up. help
If you determined that your pump is okay, you may have a clog in your drain hose.
OMG you are a life saver. worked perfect !
Thank you!
Great Video. Fix the problem and working well.
Woohoo! Glad it helped.
Is there anything else u need to disconnect in order to pull the dishwasher out halfway? Obviously shut the breaker but can everything else stay hooked up?
Yes, everything can stay hooked up. There is usually 2 screws under the countertop holding the dishwasher in place you will have to undo.
Appreciate the video on the E1 error code. The only time I get this E1 code in Normal mode; the dishwasher works fine in Pot-Scrubber and Delicate modes. Any idea what the source of the problem would be? Thanks in advance for any comment you can provide.

No problem!
I drain the reservoir and then it filled back up again why do you think that is
Thanx a lot it works
What does theerror (EP) refer to ?
Hello my dishwasher is mounted bellow the counter i cant acces that, what can i do? Thanks
Hard to tell without looking.
Thank you 🙏😊
Did you have to clean up the water in the same part as me?
My dishwasher works a few times, then does this for months. 🙄. It's built in so how do I fix that? Not mine either. I rent the place. 😒. Thank you
I’d start off with cleaning the filters in the interior bottom. If those look clean, might be a clog in the drain line. You can disconnect it from the sink drain line and force a drain on the dishwasher while simultaneously running a wet/dry vac on the loose dw drain hose end.
now make a video of u finding where leak came from and diagnosing the cause of E1

Works for a single wash after doing what u said. Then again E1 error occurs .
I think it could be the way you load your dishwasher. Try not to have bowls in the bottom rack that can focus water towards the front. Also check your rubber seals around the door frame.

I think you are correct. That bowl on the front right corner could’ve definitely caused the issue.
Why does that happen?
You are the fixer. Period.
Sucking it up and walking away ? The question remains as to why the water leaked.
Hopefully it was an one-off issue like in my case. I suspect the drain filter was clogged and that’s why water went into the overflow.
Why would water build up there?
I’m not sure yet. But obviously there was a block somewhere and water went into that overflow reservoir.
I took out and cleaned the filters on the bottom of the dishwasher in case that was the issue.
Why does water build up there though
Water goes there if the water level is too high inside the dishwasher. It could be due to a clogged drain line or bad drain pump.
thanks thats good thank you very much❤❤
You're welcome 😊
And,,. What is a permanent fix?
Do not place bowls on the bottom rack where water being sprayed from underneath could direct water towards the bottom of the door. Water can get past the seals and flow out of the dishwasher and into that reservoir causing the issue.
