zygarde-50 OU ban intensifies -okay, to be fair, zygarde does have more than one good move but the ban was still caused by the addition of a single move-
Based on its design Rampardos should have the same Stats or distribution like Kartana. Fast, Strong and Physically bulky on the physical side, while being frail on the special side.
Even then it wouldn't be fast enough to justify being a very frail pure rock type sweeper, it would fall even quicker to priority moves and other strong moves that already ruin Ramparados with it's high health.
They should make a Mega Rampardos with Rock Head as its ability, buff both of its defences by 20 points and its speed by 60. Itd become a Uber or atleast an OU
118 speed is ridiculous on a pokemon with a 165 Attack and STAB 150 BP stab with swords dance. It wouldn't be frail either with finish 97-80-70 Defenses are more than enough for it to set up a swords dance or even stealth rock and tear apart the opposing team with head smash. It should not have more than 95 Speed, otherwise anything it would rip through any team. A set of max atk, max speed and 4 hp with jolly nature and - Swords Dance - Head Smash - Earthquake - Fire Punch is utterly unwallable. I will put some calcs.
Reckless sounds better for Rampardos's style of pushing out as much unnecessary power as possible. This isn't the armor-plated Aggron we're talking about here.

They should have cut its Sp atk to 30 or even less, then given it to speed, or its defenses. Why even have that much sp atk with such a dominant atk stat.
Fun fact, Cranidos is based on smaller Pachicephalosaurus, or maybe a Stigymoloch. Rampardos looks more like a Dracorex, due to the horns, but it still has Pachicephalosaurus head
Tbh I always used him in a trick room setup, or as a sacrificial role with endure and endeavor, and I also used him with Scolipede with the op baton pass.
Can we take a moment to note how massive rampardos’ move set is? Sure it has a lot of strong physical moves like head smash, earthquake, elemental punches and many others. But it also has a large special move pool with the elemental beams and surf. It also has a surprising amount of status moves too, capable of stealth rock, a plethora of boosting moves and is one of very few pokemon to learn three different phasing moves. Shame it can’t use its move pool well.
I love Rampardos, one of my favorite pokemon and definitely my favorite fossil! I hope he gets some buffs in the remakes, and I would lose my mind if he came back in the second wave of dlc

Poor Rampardos, I still think the thing that destroyed it the most was the pure rock typing they gave it. Being frail, slow, AND weak to basically every priority move in existence (mach punch, aqua jet, bullet punch) is so painful
This channel is too good at influencing my mind. First im thinking about an unstoppable force with wild attack that could ohko anything and seconds later about a slow and frail pokemon that couldnt get a turn.
Rampardos has one of my favorite designs in the series. As a kid, I always thought he was such a cool Pokemon. His defense and speed stats are so abysmal, it's sad this badass dinosaur sucks
"Slow and frail" (the term you used 95% of the time in this vid) is a much better description of Rampardos' weaknesses than "slow and weak" like you said on the first mention of its difficulties. That boi is many things, and has a lot of short coming but he ain't "weak" (that word implies offensive shortcomings more than it does defensive, a la "shuckle/blissey are tanky but weak") I've seen thus vid a bunch of times and I enjoy it and you a lot thanks for the content!
I used one in Brilliant Diamond, got a TM for Rock Slide early thanks to the Grand Underground, and gave it a Hard Stone. Plus, it had the Sheer Force ability, learned Rock Polish by level up, and I could teach it Swords Dance. It fell off pretty quickly once the battles in the game actually became difficult, but it will always hold a special place in my heart for that.
Rampardos: Is literally the headbutt pokemon. Based on a pachycephalosaurus. All of it's pokedex entries mention it's skull. Resurrected from the skull fossil. Rock type. *Doesn't learn skull bash* *Doesn't have rock head*
Rampardos might have a slight use in gen 8 doubles since trickroom is much better there. With Indeede’s follow me, ally swap, and priority denial in psychic terrain, it might actually be able to do something.
The best memory I have of Rampardos is using it to try and find a battle where I could showcase it to send the replay to a Poketuber here in Brazil. His name is SharkTuxa, and back in Gen 7 he did a series of videos called “Dia D”,in which the subscribers chose a Pokémon from a poll he did with 3 mons of a certain Gen. When it was Rampardos’s time,I made a tr team in RU w mixed rampardos and showcased it. As a matter of fact, the fact that it doesn’t have to run speed makes way for even more powerful mix attacking stats.
Gengarzilla Rampardos has 2 amazing abilities in Mold Breaker and Sheer Force (though Rock Head would’ve been nice on it for Head Smash). What makes Vish better is its better typing, the fact that it can actually take a couple hits, and it’s much faster
Rampardos is a fine example for why only attack stat is not enough. you got to have something to back it up - defense that will allow you to take a hit, or speed that allow you to dish the damage youre capable of. but when you have neither of those, youre basically worthless

I would make a joke, but I just feel bad for Rampardos at this point.

Based on its design Rampardos should have the same Stats or distribution like Kartana. Fast, Strong and Physically bulky on the physical side, while being frail on the special side.
They should give Rampardos an ability that instantly sets up a trick room on switch in just to watch the meta-game burn..

Still weak to most priority. Rock is a terrible defensive typing.

We need to know how good bisharp was actually. A dark type that murders fairies and defoggers
Now I know why Roark's ace in his rematches in the Battleground in Platinum is not his Rampardos, but Tyranitar.
Byron does something similar, with Bastiodon taking a step back for an Aggron.
I'm going to presume this is why both Rampardos and Bastiodon went extinct 🤔
They did my man so dirty. Such a cool design and great stats.. Stat.

I found your channel today... best thing thats happened to my TH-cam feed in a while
“Our Beloved Gen 4 remakes are on their way” aged like the finest of wine 🍷
Just to put into perspective how powerful Rampardos is, with max IVs, a neutral nature, and 0 attack EVs it will *tie* with base 117 mons that have max *everything*.
Krookodile with max attack EVs, adamant nature, and max IVs comes to 366, exactly the same Rampardos gets just by existing.
Poor Rampardos, I still think the thing that destroyed it the most was the pure rock typing they gave it. Being frail, slow, AND weak to basically every priority move in existence (mach punch, aqua jet, bullet punch) is so painful
0:20 this aged well
yes
Eh
Psychic terrain + trick room for Rampardos sounds like a fun (though ineffective) gimmick team.
This channel is too good at influencing my mind.
First im thinking about an unstoppable force with wild attack that could ohko anything and seconds later about a slow and frail pokemon that couldnt get a turn.
YEAH I LOVE RAMPARDOS! I love Roark’s reaction in the anime “AHHH RAMPARDOS” When he got jacked up by Ash’s Turtwig
Rampardos has one of my favorite designs in the series. As a kid, I always thought he was such a cool Pokemon. His defense and speed stats are so abysmal, it's sad this badass dinosaur sucks
He is also my favorite too, although I dont use him even for the first time.
I'd give it the Ability 'Rock Head', so that it might last a little longer, while being able to use Head Smash.
Sadly, even with Rock Head, Rampardos wouldn't be great since it's too frail to benefit from the lack of recoil.
The Gen 4 remakes are indeed on their way
"Slow and frail" (the term you used 95% of the time in this vid) is a much better description of Rampardos' weaknesses than "slow and weak" like you said on the first mention of its difficulties. That boi is many things, and has a lot of short coming but he ain't "weak" (that word implies offensive shortcomings more than it does defensive, a la "shuckle/blissey are tanky but weak")
I've seen thus vid a bunch of times and I enjoy it and you a lot thanks for the content!
Jirachi: I fear no man, but that thing
*Rampardos*
It scares me.
Remember how hype Rampardos was when the stats for the Gen 4 pokemon were revealed and the fact it can use Rock Polish?
And just like Electivire, the hype was so far misplaced it went into orbit.
@@gengarzilla1685 but electivire at least isn't *completely* terrible. It is just ... overhyped.

meanwhile, dodrio can learn fly, steel wing, sky attack and roost.
If they ever start making power armor for pokemon, then Rampardos should definitely get one.

Damn shawty ok
Well, this video aged well
"another staple of early-game Diamond and Pearl teams"
Oh, another Pokémon that's not as good as Staraptor? Sounds fun!
Your pronunciation of pachycephalosaurus is better than 90% of every other human being's pronunciation
It's literally Greek for ''Dense-headed lizard''
Rampardos might have a slight use in gen 8 doubles since trickroom is much better there. With Indeede’s follow me, ally swap, and priority denial in psychic terrain, it might actually be able to do something.
I love my adamant Rampardos, I have swept with it many times after one rock polish, But still very gimmicky and stealth rocks destroys my sash.
I used a ramparados in renegade platinum and it was amazing
The best memory I have of Rampardos is using it to try and find a battle where I could showcase it to send the replay to a Poketuber here in Brazil. His name is SharkTuxa, and back in Gen 7 he did a series of videos called “Dia D”,in which the subscribers chose a Pokémon from a poll he did with 3 mons of a certain Gen. When it was Rampardos’s time,I made a tr team in RU w mixed rampardos and showcased it. As a matter of fact, the fact that it doesn’t have to run speed makes way for even more powerful mix attacking stats.
I swear, this thing gets a buff to its speed, nothing will stop it
“As we all know, an insanely strong attack does not a good Pokémon make.”
Dracovish: “Allow me to introduce myself”
Propped up by a great ability and signature move though. Rampardos has neither quality.
Gengarzilla Rampardos has 2 amazing abilities in Mold Breaker and Sheer Force (though Rock Head would’ve been nice on it for Head Smash).
What makes Vish better is its better typing, the fact that it can actually take a couple hits, and it’s much faster
Even Tyrantrum does things better than Rampardo.
I thought Cranidos and Rampardos were Dragon types for the longest time.
It would be so cool with a mega evolution... (please in a remake 😭)

@@rondoudoushiney3868 a mega rampardos would be so cool to see
Rampardos is a fine example for why only attack stat is not enough. you got to have something to back it up - defense that will allow you to take a hit, or speed that allow you to dish the damage youre capable of. but when you have neither of those, youre basically worthless
"To add insult to injury, Ferrothorn existed."
