Installing a HIDDEN BUMPER LIGHT BAR for my 3RD Generation TOYOTA TACOMA!

  • In today's video I install a much needed mod for my 3rd generation Toyota Tacoma!! Today I work on installing the 30'' LED light bar from Diode Dynamics! This requires zero cutting or any modifications and uses the factory crash bar bolts to secure the light bar into place. I found that the easiest way to do this was to remove the grill and part of the bumper to get better access to the bolt. This really wasn't a hard project to do, once the light bar was on, it was time for wiring. Having done this before it is really straight forward. Hook up wires to the battery and then one through the firewall for the switch. You can place the switch wherever you want, but I wanted to put it with my other light in the "useless" cubby spot. Hope you guys enjoyed and this is a great night time mod for any truck!!

      @@BrosFOURRSpeed Most people don’t shut them off. Just like all the damn “fog lights”. I’ve been driving charter buses for 12 years now. We have drivers that run with the fog lights on all the time and all they do is light up the ditch. But they are still bright to the oncoming traffic. I’ve seen a lot of lights the same style as in the video, more than a few on semis. Even on four lane highways they are too bright, especially when coming around a curve. I get that people want to see the road better at night. I do too, especially when I have a bus load of people on board.

    Excellent video. Purchased a WeiSen Front Bumper Opening Mount 30 Inch LED Light Bar from Amazon. As I wanted the light behind the bumper similar to yours, the installer told me he would need to remove the bumper for install and would take three hours. From what I saw in your video, you simply loosened the bumper for install. Is it true it is a three hour install if so what is a fair amount for labor only? Looking forward to hearing from you.

    What are your thoughts on the light output putting it behind the grates vs. using a bracket, cutting the grates and mounting it flush? Do you feel like the grates reduce the amount of light you get from the bar? Im trying to decide on my tacoma now which way to mount it.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like it! They don't seem to hinder the output at all, so it makes it look very nice and subtle instead of just being there on the outside of them! Personal preference really, but I like it mounted behind and the brackets that come with them, make it for an "easy" install to bolt to where the crash bar is! Plug the grates line up almost perfectly with the parts of the light bar that isn't the light if that makes sense!

    I know you installed it how you wanted to, but DiodeDynamics has a water release valve on one side of the light bar that is supposed to point downwards, with the cable coming out the passenger side, since you have the wires coming out the driver side, that valve is now pointing upwards on the passenger side and water cannot escape. Anyways nice install

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's the second comment I have seen on that, so far I haven't had any issues at all, and the only reason I put the cable towards the driver side is so that I would have enough to reach the battery.
