    I’ve been watching you for years now and practicing acrylic nails for the past year or so. I got into it after becoming a mom again after 18 years! I know I’m crazy 😂 I had always wanted to learn but being at home while my husband was deployed out of state, it was the perfect hobby to keep me sane ❤ well after over drilled nails/cuticles I was SO close to throwing in the towel. But the stubborn bull I am said to give it one more shot. And guess what?! I FINALLY did a set of acrylic nails that don’t look like I scooped a dollop of mashed potatoes on my fingernails 😊 and thanks to you reminding me just how important good cuticle work is, mine look pretty damn good! If I do say so myself 😌 I wish I could send you a picture Susie. I think you’d be proud ❤Thanks to you this broke mama won’t be wasting anymore 💰 at the nail salon anymore!!! I live in WA state and the ONLY good mail tech I’ve had that made my nails straight and cuticles seem less is located in Texas 😢 the lady would hand file each nail to the Gods I tell ya!!! Anyways, thank you Susie for all your help ❤❤❤
    P.S.
    Your odorless monomer is the 💣 my husband can’t stand the smell of regular monomer and doesn’t mind yours at all ❤

    I needed this video. The owner of the salon I work at says u don't need an apex but I know that u actually do need one. And today I did a fill on a set that she did the original full set and it was so hard cuz I wasn't sure how to rebalance her work. The sets she does look exactly like what ur nieces looked like and she's been doing them for 18 yrs.
    If I have to fill a set she did again I feel like I would know what to do now so thank u so much.

      @nikita-qu8dz 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's not a trend and it doesn't result in breaks if you know how to do it properly. Nails can be very thin which looks more natural. I came across this account and I am absolutely shocked that someone with 35 years experience is doing this and teaching others to do it this way. Her grow points are moved and sides cut because someone tried to make her nails look more slim in a wrong way. Thick apex is not a trend, we moved on from 2000s at least in Europe. I know I sound like an absolute b* but I'm beyond shocked. Be careful who you learn from and never stop educating yourself, don't think once you finish course that's it

    • @jindejak93
      @jindejak93 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @@nikita-qu8dzwhen the salon does flat (which I hate as that isn't my natural shape) they last max 2 weeks. If they add a proper apex that matches my natural curve they last 4-6 weeks. My nails grow pretty slow and I always start with short nails. If I do them myself (which I have done for 35 years as well, I'm not a tech just someone who objects to paying $75 for a basic set or fill). I go to the salon only when I am working 60-80 hours a week and don't have the time.
      I also wish more salons actually sculpted instead of tips, those last even longer.
      I'm in the US and this has been common in at least 2 states that I have had my nails done.
      And frankly IMO the flat nails are ugly.

    Weird question, but can you have a nail built in acrylic, gel, whatever, and the use a peel off base coat under a gel polish, so you can easily switch up your nail art, without filing or soaking off and keep the built nail underneath?

    • @Skelekatron
      @Skelekatron 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This is something I’ve tried before! I used the ünt peel off base coat over acrylic and polygel and I noticed that it will work BUT the surface of the acrylic or polygel has to be VERY smooth. I tend to put a gel top coat on the acrylic or polygel, then the peel off base, then the design. If everything goes well you shouldn’t have to reapply the barrier top coat after peeling up your design

    hey susie i was wondering do you think it’s bad to re-use the purple part that you put on the “arbor band” or sanding band ? i was just wondering because i always hear that it’s really bad for a salon to re-use anything that is porous such as nail files or the sanding band on the drill bit so i was just wondering what you’re opinion on that is here i noticed you did use a sanding band that looked like it had been used before and i just found that interesting also could you please do a vid on sanitation and cleaning and what you do to prep for a client before hand or in between clients ect .

      @KateandBree 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      She’s using that band all on one client - her niece. If you’re doing multiple clients, that’s one band per client.
      If it’s for your own use, you can use it until it’s “dead.”

    • @NailCareerEducation
      @NailCareerEducation  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      So great to hear your enjoying my videos
      You ask a great question. When it comes to our bands, as long as you’re using it on the same person it’s no problem. Arbour bands are rather inexpensive so rather than going to the time it takes to disinfect these little things. It’s kind of not worth it. You might as will put a new one on per client. As for nail files, certainly if it’s the same person use the same file. When it comes to clients, I would use the same set of files for each and every client. in the salon, I would label a perforated bag and place the files that I use on that particular client in that bag with their name and date on it and I would use those files on that person. Every time they came in for their appointment until the files were used so much that they need to be replaced. You can get a long wear out of a nail file before you have to replace it if it’s a high-quality nail file. What a waste to use it once and throw it out. I would not do that. It is throwing away money on a perfectly good item. Not to mention we don’t need to be throwing more in the landfill than we possibly can. These files are very good shape and you can get many uses out of them. In fact, you may be able to even have them last a year. When you consider a client comes once a month that’s only 12 uses for one customer.

      I want to add. I believe Suzie filmed several different topics on her niece in one day. So that arbor band was probably used on her niece in a different film topic that same day, so Suzie did not need to grab a new one for her Mandrill on this particular nail educational topic. If you follow Suzie you might notice that her niece is wearing the same clothes in every video. Hence spent a day using her nieces for all different learning techniques. Suzie is so good. 😊

    how can you make an apex for a very curved nail so that it doesn't look like eagle nails?

    • @NailCareerEducation
      @NailCareerEducation  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      That’s always hard when a client wants the opposite to what they naturally
      Know if they had flat nails and you had to add an Apex that’s different it’s an easy do. But if you have curvy nails and you want more flat look, that’s tough because you do need the structure so they don’t break.
      So what I do is I just make the Apex as low as I feel I possibly can for it not to break. I do find people with curvy nails are stronger. So they can have a little less Apex and not break. So it can be done and I made those clients very happy. You just have to experiment and see what little Apex you can get away with it aesthetically pleasing you.

    I have so much faith in Suzie, but I don't want an apex on my nail because it's ugly, period. It isn't nice, it isn't cute and I don't want it on my nails. I'm not even willing to dance around the subject anymore, I'll just say exactly what I think and nail technicians better learn that even as a teacher there's a time for talking and there's a time to listen and adjust to survive. You can't keep justifing the apex to clients, things are moving and you're trying to keep that apex still. Stahp it! The clients have had enough of the apex and of the smart a$$ justifications. Everything is evolving, the clients are evolving, their makeup, hair, fashion, their entire look is evolving, but you want to keep that ugly nail feature still. Nobody wants that apex nor the demi-scientific explanation for it.
    I very gently file my own natural apex off my nails, because it's just ugly, it's not esthetic. The structure theory is true, but very mildly so. The apex is going to make a difference, but not a huge one. I have friends with natural nails that bend the other way around, they flip upwards. Some of them are more inclined to break, others are stronger or just more lasting without breaking than mine. And they look fvking magnificent, they look like something out of a fairytale. And they don't really have an apex, do they? They have it but the other way around. My husband's natural nail tips are reaching for the stars, his entire nail bed is bent the other way around. If it exists in nature it can surely be artificially reproduced. Point is: Your clients, everyone and their mamas want nails like the natural ones I've described: Nails that flip upwards, not downwards. It's high time you stop trying to justify ugly and get with the times, make those apex-free, straight or upwards flip nails possible. One of my friends with gorgeous upwards tip nails gets away with long nails because hers are naturally very flexible and they bend much rather than break. Maybe take inspiration from that, maybe there can be such a thing as a pretty nail without a hunchback, with some other sort of structure or consistency. I'm sorry for being so direct, but I'm bored with "this is why it CAN'T be done", instead of y'all getting with the times and finding a solution to give us the nails we want. I'm sure it can't be that hard, expecially in collaboration with an engineer, an architect, a chemist. And, as always, if nobody else gets it done, do it yourself. Please don't force me into doing it myself because I'm the busiest girl and nails aren't my 1st field of expertise.
