    Bose and Sonos both have good products. However when I bought Bose Soundtouch 30 and Sonos Play 5 (2nd generation) to compare. They both sound good. After 5 days of comparing which sounds better, I end up returning the Bose Soundtouch 30 and kept the Sonos Play 5. I now have 2 Sonos Play 5 and Sonos Sub which I really enjoy the sound for our Living and Family room. It's just my personal preference picking the Sonos over Bose. Again both are good brand and nothing wrong to say on both of them.

    Dude your review is completely misleading. I have been using sonos play 5 since the last 2 years. Last week i have moved to a bose soundtouch 30 and i would like to tell u that bose is far better than sonos play 5.I sold my sonos play 5 within 2 days after purchasing bose soundtouch 30. The sound of bose is very natural and bass is very heavy. The top volume is 30% above sonos. Sonos play 5 is a baby in front of Bose soundtouch 30.The sound from sonos play 5 is very glassy kind of and not natural at all. I have used sonos play 5 for almost 2 years and can bet that bose soundtouch 30 is better.

      Sonos has way superior sound quality to the bose, and supports hi res audio where the bose does not, and sonos had limitless bandwidth. When the bose is connected via bluetooth to my Samsung galaxy note 9 which has 32bit support, the bose chooses the lowest sound quality sbc. That was a huge turn off. I want lossless quality and hi res quality not some bose gimicks. Thats why i chose sonos play 5.

  • @AM-in5cf
    @AM-in5cf 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Sonos is way more balanced. Bose is not bad but compared to the size of the Bose, the speakers inside are way to small. Only one sub and two tiny high and midrange driver. I mean the sub makes a nice job and yeah the bass is stronger than on the Sonos. Sonos has 3 woofers and three tweeters. Not as bass heavy but more balanced in my opinion.
    I think the difference is that Bose try’s to make small speaker sound good, but at high volume they really suck. Sonos is better when it comes to overall sound quality and loudness.
    Had Bose for several years and changed to Sonos. I prefer Sonos.

    It is very unfortunate that this video has 100k views, it is extremely biased and subjective. Some of the facts called out are not true. The Bose syncs with Spotify and works over the internet, which means that you can listen and control Spotify from your mobile device while having a call on it, and the call would not go on the Bose. I just did that, my unit arrived yesterday and I am very happy with it. The bass is exaggerated, but I find that as a benefit. It may not be the same for an educated musical ear. Thus, the option to decrease over the Bose app is there. As this is Bose, i do not think the mids and the high need any adjustment, so the lack of option to do that is not an issue. I do not have data to compare to the Sonos. Interestingly, we do not hear a sound from it in this video.

    You didn't really did a full review, you basically compared a few seconds of playing on the Bose and didn't even play the Sonos. You can't do a true sound test online unless you are using the right setup but obviously the only way to really do a sound comparison is in person. I have a full Bose soundtouch system and I like the way they sound over Sonos. Yes you can't customize the bass and treble but you shouldn't have to. The ST 30 is big but it's elegant and it sounds amazing. Sonos is very plain looking (looks like a shoebox on it's side) Both apps are very good as Bose has come a long way recently.

      Paul Tanasi sound will always be its own preference to the person who is hearing it. However, I understand that u won’t be able to hear the difference, that’s why I’m telling how you the viewers how it sounds from my perspective. Again there is no wrong and right choice, but you should know what u get with each speaker. Btw what rear speakers do u use with your surround sound setup?

      Paul Tanasi I did say in the video that I like the Sonos products over Bose. If Bose improves on its looks, usability and sound, than I’ll reconsider them. However in the mean time I think Sonos is king. I hope other company improve on their audio equipment, because that will only benefit us the consumer.

  • @ewald3730

    I bought the Bose Soundtough 30 after careful considerations, including a comparison with the Sonos. Overall, based on sound quality and simplicity of use, for me the Bose is preferred. The clean boxy looks, classy looking front, including the very simple to use phone application were an important factor for me.
    It was not mentioned in the video that the Bose also has a nice remote control (with all needed functions, including a pause button...) making it very handy to use if you do not want to use the phone or computer all the time.
    The one thing Bose could include is a treble control; it is always nice to be fully in control of the sound produced.

  • @Silverbacked_Gorilla
    @Silverbacked_Gorilla 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    If you feel the need to to adjust bass and treble you should consider other equipment in the first place. No adjustment on the Bose is designed to protect the equipment from clipping and damaging the equipment at high volume levels. Some of the best amplifiers in the world have an off/on switch, volume control, component selector and that's it!! (for that very reason).

      That's because the Sanos has nothing on Bose. Go to Best buy and play them both. You will see for yourself. If your buying a speaker all that matters is sound quality! He was complaining about how heavy the Bose was... well anyone who knows anything about speakers would look at that as a sign of quality.

      @sanjaydamodaran3219 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Justinator8400, i did exactly what u said last week. I went to best buy and tested them both. I felt the Bose has a more Hollow, Loud and Bassy sound. And the Sonos has a sharp and strong/controlled bass. I also felt bose sounds stuttering on volumes higher than 70%, while the sonos still maintained its integrity, But it wasnt as loud as the bose. I decided finally, and bought the Sonos and i just love it :)

    • @KosherTech
      @KosherTech  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Justinator8400 You should never be sold on in store demo sound. Bose speakers sound better in Best Buy or in other retail stores because their speakers are optimized for the demos. I know this from personal experience working in retail, owning the product, also you can ask the Best Buy guys they will tell u the exact same thing. Moreover you should never think if a product is heavy it shows quality, that is complete BS! Their are small speakers that are much powerful than big ones, there are smartphones that are powerful than some computers. You see how you thought strategy doesn’t make any sense? Anyway if these two company’s compete, it will only help us the consumer, at the end of the day that’s what this is all about, how can they help us! Not the other way around. At the end of the day it’s your $ Buy what fits your life style. Hope this helped, because I’m here to help.

    I'm thinking about purchasing a full sonos system but I have a question, how do you connect multiple devices with spdif? And also is it possible to force sound that isn't 5.1 to all speakers? Or will it only come from the soundbar/Base.

    • @KosherTech
      @KosherTech  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You don't connect spdif to anything, everything is connected via WiFi. If the channel which you are watching supports Dolby 5.1 than playbar/base will output 5.1.

    Hi KosherTech well I have a thought for you... I used to have my Sonos play 5 2nd gen connected to complete my 5.1 how ever after 12 months of this setup I decided that the play 5s were an over kill so I substituted them by the play ones but still keeping the play5s as a stereo pair in the same room. I think I made the right choice as the sound quality was the same for movies but was way better for music ...sure I had to spend on 2 extra play 1s. thinking about it there must be a reason Sonos configures and advertises play one with the 5.1 set up...your thoughts?

Why didn't you play the Sonos for viewers to see for themselves how much Bose is better in sound quality, which is actually the most important feature? After all, it's a comparison video yet you only played one of the devices. :-(

    i compared the two side by side and i found the sonos to be the better option. the bose comes with a built in ported sub which can definitely go lower than the sonos, but with that you sacrifice a noticeable amount of quality on the high end. the bose can boom, but the sonos clearly sounded warmer and more crisp... now the bose was obviously designed to be a one and done speaker. they dont want you to add to it. you buy the soundtouch 30 and thats it... sonos encourages you to add to your system. you can build a seriously unbelievable system with two play:5's and a sub. obviously that is extremely expensive, but it is an option for those (like me) who really want an incredible sound system. however, as a stand alone speaker the sonos still wins. it is very clear and expansive in its sound.

    The Bose didn't really best out the HK play and go either, imo. But the Bose does play louder, yet doesn't have a battery to make it portable. I think the fluance ri70 would smash the Bose to bits, tbh, if you aren't looking to get away from the walljack.

Anyway, SoundTouch 30 is not for customization freaks; it’s rather for genuine listeners who want to listen to music the way they were made in the studio as well as listen to a pure sound and feel like they have the a whole orchestra next to the couch while enjoying coffee or reading. ST30 has a design whose elegance only gentlemen can notice. This elegant design somehow makes one appreciate the music coming out of this “bulky” thing that stands TALL on my side table.

    It’s pointless how you all argue over which is bettter the sonos is better than the Bose and it’s similar to a jbl boombox in bass and volume. It blows away a jbl xtreme or a harman kardon onyx it also beats the Bose in overall quality. Yes the Bose is louder but has a shit ton of distortion The sonos looses bass however retains double the bass of the Bose soundtouch 30. For the same price go with the sonos because it’s just better however if u need simpler uses and a more detailed design go with the Bose

    Biggest problem with my bose is it doesn't have google music and they probably won't be able to due to hardware issues. Love my Bose, but until Amazon music unlimited comes to Canada I'm stuck having to use Bluetooth like it 2010. (I used to use it with Spotify, but after having my entire library deleted one to many times for no reason I moved in from Spotify)

    I would like to hear a sound quality comparison, also Bose 30 can be connected with the Bose bar too like sonos. (Ah and sonos bar has no HDMI).
    Aesthetically prefer Sonos in speakers and Bose in bar.
    Bluetooth is like the more services in sonos, you can have them but you never use them (I personally only use Spotify).
    Sound quality is what counts if someone compares them I would like to read comments.
    For end I think you are influenced by sonos and you can’t make a correct quality sound comparison.

      KosherTech I have the soundtouch 300 and the soundtouch 10 connected perfectly.
      In the app you have the option but I’m not 100% because I don’t have the 30.

      No, bose soundtouch it doesnt distort anytime, its just a noise from the bass reflex port where there is a lot of hair in bassy songs. Its because the port is too narrow for its powerfull subwoofer. Mids and highs never distorts

      I have soundndtouc 30 serie 3 since 2 years and i was dissapinted with the sound at first, muddy sound and not good bass, too boomy, not defined and not kick bass. But nowadays this sistem sound much more natural and defined than at first, its very usual in bose systems, it gains and improve sounds with the age. My cousin has soundtouch 30 first series and still sounds better than mine.

    Sonos is the "Apple" in the speaker industry. Apps is simple to use for me, and I am able to connect with the other sonos products. The only thing that is annoying is that I am a student that is using the communiy wifi so there is no way I can type in my username and password. I had to buy an additional pocket wifi.

    Sonos Play 5 wins by far. Only lacking bass, but everything else is perfect. We ran a bunch of tests between these two beasts and the sound touch 30 (series 3) sounds like crap when its full blast. It has way to much highs that drown out the bass. Pair up two Sono play 5, thats an experience you will never forget =)

      It doesnt lack bass, the bass is set at a default level that the factpry deemed the most neutral setting for music. If you want more bass just go to the app and go to thr equalizer and crank that bass up. It will make your room rattle.

    This was the worst review of these 2 speakers... Most Of the shortcomings can be overcome by adding an Alexa... Bluetooth no problem add an Alexa... Need more places to get music no problem add an Alexa.. I heard both of these speakers inside Best Buy and I was not happy with the Sono's 5... It got too loud for what it is.... These are not meant to hook up to a surround sound like in a movie theater.... These are basically a to listen to your music with great sound without needing a whole lot of other stuff like wires etc... If Amazon made a great speaker then I would not need to buy this... I am buying a Bose So I can hook it to my Echo dot but also have great sound quality.. If this was the only video that was a review on these 2 speakers this video would make me choose something else like Sony... This guy needs a go back and learn how to make videos and learn about the products before he makes a video...

    This review is bias. You can connect the Bose to WiFi via the phone app. And you can play the presents on the Bose using ony the Bose. You can play your music through your phone using WiFi via the bose app on your phone.

    • @KosherTech
      @KosherTech  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      When i tested it the Bose, it wouldn't let me play my music which was installed on to my phone, via WiFi. However with SONOS we did see that feature.

    • @pep7890
      @pep7890 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Strange. I have lots of Bose SoundTouch and al of them work via WiFi using their app. I use amazon music, Spotify, and I heart radio via the app to play music through the Bose/WiFi.

    • @KosherTech
      @KosherTech  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right all of them will work via WiFi. however i am referring to songs which are downloaded straight to you phone, which are not using any music services. When i was tested the speaker, i didn't have that option to play songs which are downloaded to my phone.

    I looked at them both in B&H, I wanted to like Sonos because I know Bose does not make good sound...
    But Sonos, no matter how nicer it may sound, I could not pay $500 for that amateur design.
    Ended up buying Bose Soundtouch 30.
