I've been performing for 30 years. I've seen many professional bands play this song. You guys did a better job then most of them. The singing and guitars were very good. Don't pay attention to any bad reviews. When I was young I thought I knew everything too.

That was pretty awesome guys - for a high school band, you should be proud of yourselves for tackling this one and pulling it off. The singer and lead guitar player - you guys did a great job especially. Hopefully next time you play it, you can get more of the band to sing harmonies, and another lead guitar for that last double-solo!

any time you decide to cover a classic like this...you will get alot of knit pickers complaining if its not as good as the original. im the same way. we notice all the tiniest mistakes and will point them out to you in a second. its almost like we do it to keep you from thinking that you will ever get good enough to match the quality of the original. hehehe. i think this was pretty good though. i do love that there are young people out there that love and appreciate those classics.
Thanks for the kind words. The group was put together as part of a club that we started at school. We were hoping that through this Musician's club, we will find an outlet for other musician's to perform on (outside of orchestra, band, choir, etc.). We know it isn't perfect but it was still just as exciting to have this opportunity to perform. Nice thing about the club was there was no divide among the different grade levels as students from Freshman to Seniors got to perform on the same stage.

But the reality was, we put this club together to give musicians an outlet to perform as we realize that most talent shows were showcasing singers with little or no outlet for those that played an instrument.

No we don't. Licensing should be covered by TH-cam (depending which publishers they've worked with) and if they don't, the publishers will probably request them to take it down. As agreements are changed frequently, it's hard to tell which publishers they've sign contracts and when. Obviously there will always be gray areas where digital distribution is concerned as the industry is slowing but surely will adopt to it.

When selecting this song, our goal was to give as much musicians a chance to participate and Hotel California’s Acoustic version was just that song as it easily was the biggest group in that talent show (7 musicians). Unfortunately, these young musicians (of course) could not compare against the Eagles, both from a technical musical standpoint and as performers. These musicians were just happy to be able to make a decent attempt at a classic song.
I think most people don't understand what a cover is. You all are NOT the Eagles. NO ONE is except Glen Frey, Don Henley, Don Felder, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmidt ( you can throw in Bernie Leadon and Randy Miesner also). Your not meant to sound exactly like them. I think you all did a GREAT job for a bunch of kids in highschool. Kudos to you all.
Just a question how where you all able to post this video with out getting flaged by youtube do you all have the copy rights to perform hotel california Im just asking cuz my video of this song got flaged thanks and by the way great job on it boys

We got our version from Ultimate Guitar and modified it a little bit to fit the format of the competition (less than 5 minutes) and fixed some of the notes. Good luck on learning the song =)
