Memo, what a sweet video! Plants that span generations... Love it! I always have a lucky bamboo - in fact I have 36" stalks topped with a couple feet of very dusty foliage on a sideboard. The room has only a solar tube for the weakest natural light and a few Eastern rays may reach the group in the morning. They grow anywhere. Snake plants, pothos, and even a spider plant have been with me for years. But ever since I moved from my parents' house, I've bought or, whenever possible, brought lucky bamboo. Usually I buy them on my first trip to the grocery store! 😅 Never have I gone for the spiral or braided varieties - just a lucky number of stalks in glass and stone.

It was great swapping with you 🪴 I agree that the Ficus Tineke is so easy, I’ve taken cuttings and put them back with the mother plant and looking amazing in my bathroom south facing window 🪴

Very cool. I think I would agree with you on all these plants, if I had the experience growing them too. My top hardiest: Haworthia - it even survived several falls without visible damage Ficus benjamina - it might loose leaves in harsh conditions, but always patiently waited for better times to regrow Marantaceae - same,they always come back more vigorous than before Tradescantia - like marantas regrow so fast from cuttings, that they are ever renewable Sansevieria Gasteria Unknown crassula - kept alive through harshest neglectful years, it got into my care last year, it grew significantly and started blooming few days ago, which is nothing less than a miracle for me 🌿
I love your blue sweater. Perfect video because m goal is to build resiliency in my plants. I agree with your choices. My golden pothos survived cabbage worms attack outdoors, over 100 degree heat wave in the summer outdoors, and now its thriving indoors in my garage with some grow lights. My Christmas cactus is in a terracotta pot too. It is so easy. I just water it and it survives. I bought another one yesterday to see if it will grow in pon.

Have had spider plants since the 70s! Golden pothos.... they grow into monsters outside here in Florida, USA. Always have aloes growing too. The one surviving ponytail palm is over 20 years old now and taller than I am (thats not saying much. Lol). Was always Team Aspidistra.... but just discovered all the varieties this year! So three new plants joined my old established one. Just got an Esqueleto last month. So many plants...... ❤

🇦🇺 I have some of the same plants, pothos, phalaenopsis orchid, a couple of sansevieria - love the moonshine! Yours is insane! 😮 I never thought I'd meet a Ficus is like lol but I love the umbellata ❤️ I haven't been able to track one down yet but I'll keep looking. I do have a Ficus Binnendijkii Alii and it's so lovely. I have a very nice Selaginella erythropus - it's like the absolute best Autumn colours on one plant, it's one of those plants that you can't stop looking at. And I put it in a jar terrarium and it thrives, I've watered it twice. But my oldest plant is approximately 30 years old, my late dad gave it to me when I was in uni and it was like this terrifying responsibility to keep it alive! It's survived all terrible mistakes I made as someone with no knowledge (and no internet - yup! I remember pre-internet days 😂) the thickest part of the stem is 40cm in circumference and it's approximately 170cm tall. Well, it was until a winter storm knocked a tree down on top it 🤦 but as you know, there as tough as leather. It's been repotted and made many many cuttings and will look glorious again. I always thought it was called a cast iron plant because it was unkillable? Oh, spider plant, seriously who doesn't have/hasn't grown a spider plant 🕷️? Have a great week Memo 🙋🏻

I have a hibiscus I got when my grandfather died . Het had it from a cousin. so it must be over 30 years old. I take cuttings as safety but still have the original plant. And it flowers regulary all year round. Easy care, water and if it droops it perks up fast after watering. Great that you finally flipped the image, it is always weird when some things like your tshirts are in mirror image
I own quite a few of the plants in your top 10. My oldest plant being a ficus elastica tinneke that’s 36 years old, it spends every summer outside quite often getting forgotten and relying completely on rain water. My thanks giving cactus of which I have 10 also live outside all summer and give me spectacular blooms year after year, they’ve just mostly finished blooming but I quite often find I get a second blooming from them around January/February time. Anything in my collection that’s low maintenance usually gets put outside each summer to do their own thing with minimal care and watering from me. Only pest that ever gives me issues on them is slugs!

Thank you for including Calatheas ❤ They are my most resilient plants. I am also a hovering plant and they love me for it, it seems. Also I find that not variegated and not velvety Philodendrons are really easy going. They just require more stabilization in terms of janky support sticks. The last one for me would be the peace lily. It has sat in every corner of my apartment and it was happy. Also I find that plants that communicate their needs (her dramatics when not properly watered) are really good to handle
Hahaha. Yep. Pothos, Rubber tree, Thanksgiving cactus, Phalaenopsis orchid, jade tree, snake plants. I have them all and love them. The classics are classics for a reason. I also have a chunk of Boston Fern that's been in my family for probably a century, and a Ming Aralia that has been a steady pal for nearly 20 years. I also find Hoyas to be fairly easy care and rewarding. My pubicalyx has been with me for less than 4 years and it's absolutely out of control. Also, if you thoughtfully prune your rubber trees here and there over the years, you will get a tree vibe over time.
My scindapsus exotica, Hoya pubicalyx splash, Philo Brazil, Neon Pothos, Marble Pothos, Burgundy Rubber Tree, Old man cactus and Jumping cholla are my favorite common plants that I've had the longest and don't die and make me happy.
It is my understanding that yes, it is a Phal. I have several and they bloom for me better than the full size ones. Definitely would be in my top ten list. I have owned moth orchids off and on, for over forty years. I too water them once a week on Sundays along with my air plants (only ones in my 100+ collection on a schedule). I five varieties of Snake plant and I wouldn't want to part with any of them. My Pothos plants (Global Green, Neon, Manjula, Snow Queen, and Cebu Blue) would be high on my list. I recently purchased some rooted cuttings of Holiday cactus (Thanksgiving I believe). This one has yellow blooms. I have four varieties of Jade plant and once again on my list too. I have a fair number of prayer plants that are doing well in my collection. Lots of hoya, but nothing really "rare". I lost my Teinke Ficus elastica, but I do have a Abidjan and a Shiverana. They both are still relatively small. They are my only ficus. I have tried others, but wasn't successful growing them. One you didn't mention, that you would have to pry out of my cold dead paws is my Norfolk Pine!

I’m glad you included Calathea! 😉 I love them! Any that have died on me, I fully accept it was my OWN lazy neglect or ignorance in the past. And the ten or so that I have now, I cherish. ❤️ Whether it was from a lighting issue (usually too much), too dry or the water wasn’t good or “pure” enough, it’s always down to me if any plant dies! I’ve learned… lol. I don’t say “the species doesn’t live for me” or “that one didn’t make it”. It’s my own f*ckin’ fault, haha! That goes for all past Calatheas, plus the Geoppertia, Stromanthe, Ctenanthe, Maranta, etc. And if I REALLY want to be all-inclusive & OCD, I kind of place all the gingers (and their cousins-including Marantaceae) on a similar playing-field. As in, they all seem to require, or benefit at least, from better water, some shade protection during hot days, and prefer bright indirect exposure. Rather than just full shade or full sun. This includes all the aforementioned prayer plants, plus their cousins the bananas (Musa, Ensete, etc), _Strelitzia_ (bird of paradise), _Heliconia_ (lobster claw), _Curcuma_ (turmeric), _Canna_ - canna “lilies” are so common but quite varied. It’s easy to get into the hybrids. They’re like a fusion of ginger and Calatheas to me, but way more straightforward to deal with. They’re probably the easiest of all of these families and genera to grow, but yet still benefit from being treated like a their cousins the Marantaceae, I’ve found. Less brown tips and leaf edges with good water, slightly less full sun.
My variegated Bonnie....I have green Spiders that are a bit of a pain. The Bonnie is huge and beautiful with lots of babies. Also, my Hoya Carnosa that was about 20 years old just kicked the bucket. However, I had the foresight to take cuttings about 3 years ago and now baby Carnosa is taking over .
Another enjoyable video. You are so entertaining to watch i love you style. Plants that i would put on my list would include the bergonangel wing such a herdy plant never had a pest and almost slways in bloom with sparkly pink flowers. Also rhipsalis the easiest plant ever.
I've had snake plants for years, spiderplants for 20 years, kalanchoe, pothos, Chinese evergreen aka aglaonema. I've only recently gotten into orchids, I love phalaenopsis and oncidium. They seem to thrive and bloom for me without a lot of effort
I've had plants since I had my first room in a shared apartment. The oldest plant is a dragon tree that my husband and I got from Ikea for this room. It is 23 years old. When I came into Aroids a year ago, I quickly reached the limits of my space, when it comes to buing plants:) But it doesn't feel right to give away my old plants to put in a new fancy plant instead. I have decided to use the new knowledge from the U-tube videos to do something good for my old plants, some of which have been neglected a lot. I try a balance of rare and common plants in my home, even if it means not to buy more plants. My top common plants are: Dracena Marginata, Ficus Elastica, Pachipodium Lamerei, Hoya carnossa, Crassula Ovata, Ficus Carica, Ficus Benjamina, Dendrobium Winter Beauty, and a no name cactus:) All of them I have for longer than 10 years and they are great!
Definitely looks like a Thanksgiving Cactus. I was just doing research on the differences between the 3 holiday Cacti and the Thanksgiving one had the pointy leaves (or whatever they are)

Oogh i love my Aspidistra but due to ‘the space issue’ i have to keep it in my guest room . Because it can tolerate lower light and colder temperatures ! Those leathery looking leaves , just wonderful! Also had to sell / give plants away due too little space. This isue off lack of space is seldom discussed… but i do wonder how others deal with this problem 🤔
It's the Golden Pothos for me. Multiple propagation and still going strong. I love Spider Plants, had several but struggle with them, and I'm holding funeral services for them now😪⚰️☠️🪴
Yucca🎉 I really neglected this poor fella and when I wanted to throw it in the bin i saw life😳 I took 2 propagations and cleaned up the mother stump and it is doing amazing now and with 12years it is one of my oldest plants. I still feel sorry for mistreating him so badly 😢

My oldest plants are a ficus benjamina which is about 20 yrs. old followed by a aloe 8 yrs. oh yes, my palm ,Dypsis Lutescens,which has blossomed by me non stop. about 7 yrs old. My alocasia polly seems to be immortal. She is about 6 yrs old. I normally kill all other alocasias pretty fast, so I don't buy them any more.
My oldest plants are a variegated African violet, spider plant, hibiscus and a common anthurium. I have a very old monster and a dieffenbachia. I keep meaning to ask how are the hens doing? 😀🇨🇦

I have a Stromanthe trio star that sits on my water cooler in my kitchen that breaks all the rules. It is beautiful and healthy and I only water it with distilled water. I live in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada 🇨🇦

Hi. thanks for the video. Mini phalaenopsis is the same phalaenopsis as the big one. Those are super complex hybrids. My guess would be the origianal parents for mini phals would be native miniatures like phal equestris or phal lindenii. Btw in terms of care species phals are not hugely different from holland clones...
I have Thanksgiving cactus. My white ones bloom around Thanksgiving but my red ones are just coming into bloom. I had Easter cactus ( my favorite) but could never get them to rebloom and they seemed to be regressing. The shape of the leaves change and more spines.
My mom’s 44 year old golden Pothos, ponytail palm, desert rose, crown of thorns, Raven ZZ, Hoya Australis Lisa and various succulents. Unless they die these aren’t going anywhere.
I got a crown of thorns- the bigger kind recently am really enjoying him. He's still holding on to the flowers he came with and is cooking up some more new ones now.

That goes for all past Calatheas, plus the Geoppertia, Stromanthe, Ctenanthe, Maranta, etc. And if I REALLY want to be all-inclusive & OCD, I kind of place all the gingers (and their cousins-including Marantaceae) on a similar playing-field. As in, they all seem to require, or benefit at least, from better water, some shade protection during hot days, and prefer bright indirect exposure. Rather than just full shade or full sun. This includes all the aforementioned prayer plants, plus their cousins the bananas (Musa, Ensete, etc), _Strelitzia_ (bird of paradise), _Heliconia_ (lobster claw), _Curcuma_ (turmeric), _Canna_ - canna “lilies” are so common but quite varied. It’s easy to get into the hybrids. They’re like a fusion of ginger and Calatheas to me, but way more straightforward to deal with. They’re probably the easiest of all of these families and genera to grow, but yet still benefit from being treated like a their cousins the Marantaceae, I’ve found. Less brown tips and leaf edges with good water, slightly less full sun.

My variegated Bonnie....I have green Spiders that are a bit of a pain. The Bonnie is huge and beautiful with lots of babies. Also, my Hoya Carnosa that was about 20 years old just kicked the bucket. However, I had the foresight to take cuttings about 3 years ago and now baby Carnosa is taking over .

Plants that i would put on my list would include the bergonangel wing such a herdy plant never had a pest and almost slways in bloom with sparkly pink flowers. Also rhipsalis the easiest plant ever.

I've had snake plants for years, spiderplants for 20 years, kalanchoe, pothos, Chinese evergreen aka aglaonema. I've only recently gotten into orchids, I love phalaenopsis and oncidium. They seem to thrive and bloom for me without a lot of effort

I've had plants since I had my first room in a shared apartment. The oldest plant is a dragon tree that my husband and I got from Ikea for this room. It is 23 years old. When I came into Aroids a year ago, I quickly reached the limits of my space, when it comes to buing plants:) But it doesn't feel right to give away my old plants to put in a new fancy plant instead. I have decided to use the new knowledge from the U-tube videos to do something good for my old plants, some of which have been neglected a lot. I try a balance of rare and common plants in my home, even if it means not to buy more plants. My top common plants are: Dracena Marginata, Ficus Elastica, Pachipodium Lamerei, Hoya carnossa, Crassula Ovata, Ficus Carica, Ficus Benjamina, Dendrobium Winter Beauty, and a no name cactus:) All of them I have for longer than 10 years and they are great!
Definitely looks like a Thanksgiving Cactus. I was just doing research on the differences between the 3 holiday Cacti and the Thanksgiving one had the pointy leaves (or whatever they are)

Oogh i love my Aspidistra but due to ‘the space issue’ i have to keep it in my guest room . Because it can tolerate lower light and colder temperatures ! Those leathery looking leaves , just wonderful! Also had to sell / give plants away due too little space. This isue off lack of space is seldom discussed… but i do wonder how others deal with this problem 🤔

It's the Golden Pothos for me. Multiple propagation and still going strong. I love Spider Plants, had several but struggle with them, and I'm holding funeral services for them now😪⚰️☠️🪴

Yucca🎉 I really neglected this poor fella and when I wanted to throw it in the bin i saw life😳 I took 2 propagations and cleaned up the mother stump and it is doing amazing now and with 12years it is one of my oldest plants. I still feel sorry for mistreating him so badly 😢

Hello, thank you for this presentation. What care do you give your phalaenopsis orchids that has perpetual bloom for you for the past 8 years? Mind sharing you care/cultivation? My oldest plants are a ficus benjamina which is about 20 yrs. old followed by a aloe 8 yrs. oh yes, my palm ,Dypsis Lutescens,which has blossomed by me non stop. about 7 yrs old. My alocasia polly seems to be immortal. She is about 6 yrs old. I normally kill all other alocasias pretty fast, so I don't buy them any more.

For repotting Ficus Lyrata Bambino, use well-draining soil and a pot with drainage holes. Be gentle with the roots! 🌱
Hi. thanks for the video. Mini phalaenopsis is the same phalaenopsis as the big one. Those are super complex hybrids. My guess would be the origianal parents for mini phals would be native miniatures like phal equestris or phal lindenii. Btw in terms of care species phals are not hugely different from holland clones...
I have Thanksgiving cactus. My white ones bloom around Thanksgiving but my red ones are just coming into bloom. I had Easter cactus ( my favorite) but could never get them to rebloom and they seemed to be regressing. The shape of the leaves change and more spines.

My mom’s 44 year old golden Pothos, ponytail palm, desert rose, crown of thorns, Raven ZZ, Hoya Australis Lisa and various succulents. Unless they die these aren’t going anywhere.

I got a crown of thorns- the bigger kind recently am really enjoying him. He's still holding on to the flowers he came with and is cooking up some more new ones now.
