- Tian Tian and Mei Xiang, two giant pandas at the Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington, are returning to China after 23 years in the United States as part of a conservation and breeding partnership. NBC’s Ryan Nobles reports for TODAY on why they’re going back now.

i am grateful that i managed to see them twice in one year.i came from the uk to see my favourite animals.i will miss seeing them next time i am in Washington i am sad they have to leave they are adorable.

Feel bad they have lived in D.C too long to change the habitat. Hope pandas are not stressed out and adjust there well. But there should some cons for pandas. Too sad 😢
Thank God. I'm praying for all the pandas to be sent back to China. The people who truly care about them. Lele and Yaya made Chinese people realize that they suffered a lot in the Memphis Zoo. And thanks to all the people who helped them to go back home. ❤❤❤

They were abused too. Mei Xiang has experienced 18 times electric shocks to have Xiao Qiji. The reason why he's been called " Miracle baby". And also Mei Xiang is 25 years old already. So China was in a rush to get them back, to avoid her being like Yaya and Lele.@@yutonghe7189
This American abuse our national bird peacock I have seen so many videos where Americans are keeping peacocks in cage Shame on them
Need to check out how other country is treating the rented panda. Especially South Korea
Chinese officials have always regularly inspected the facilities in other countries where their loaned pandas are kept.

Korean panda Fubao born in Korea in 2020 is returned to China less than 2 months ago and she's been abused since. It's heartbreaking 😢 please help us save her
