This Japanese innovation could change topwater fishing as you know it (feat. Handsome Lures)

  • The TailBop from Handsome Lures could be the best topwater innovation to hit the U.S. bass fishing market in some time. While it looks like a high-end Rat-L-Trap, this Japanese custom lure is actually a topwater that fishes like a diving Pop-R. The secret is a metal cone situated at the rear of the lure that makes a subtle popping sound. Bass and bass fishermen alike have never seen a topwater lure quite like this, and we can't wait to get the TailBop out on the lake soon!

    This is just great. From a year or so ago in your first video on Japanese lures, where you were featured in the TOPTOU magazine, I've been a big fan of that country's lure creators and their sensibility and style. Follow a bunch of them on Instagram and have really enjoyed the things they do over there. Some of the baits they are putting out just look insane! You're right, they are little works of art. I think the Japanese are largely responsible for the bait-making renaissance going on right now, including in America. Their attention to detail and the level of quality is unparalleled. I have to be careful though, the prices aren't on the lower side and if I get hooked on collecting Japanese lures I'll go broke in a big hurry! Use heavy line and tie good knots when you throw those beauties!

    Seems like those old school type of lures are popular in Japan there is a few different bait makers that make baits like that. Like Tsunami Lures which has a very similar style of baits and look.

    wow is all i can say this guys lures will be the collectors prize we will see in years to come. They are works of art. I went to his page and I think every lure was sold out except the pop slider. Great find and great video. You will have to give us a video fishing these things. I wanna see how that Tailbop looks in water. Keep em coming.

    I'd love to know how those upward facing double hooks perform in terms of hook-up ratio, as compared with trebbles, or having the double the other way up. Looks good and weedless, but does weedless = fishless?

    17 grams is almost 1\8 of an Oz over 1/2 oz. 1/2 oz is 14 grams.
    Drugs, where so man Americans learn the metric system. :)

  • @comfortablynumb9342
    @comfortablynumb9342 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    17 grams is a half ounce plus 3 grams.
    28 equals an ounce.
    Those double hooks are cool, they should stick fish but catch less snags than trebles. Interesting lures, thanks for showing us.

    28.35 grahams = 1 oz.
    25.4 mm = 1 oz.
    Try to save everyone some time. Had to look it up myself as soon as Retro started with the popper. Love the videos man, awesome stuff!!!
    I’ll be on the water tomorrow with my 1994 Fishing Buddy III portable fish finder fishing it old school!
