  • BMW is taking a bold step into the future of automotive technology with its Panoramic iDrive system, unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show twenty twenty-five. First seen in the Neue Klasse concept cars back in twenty twenty-four, this innovative system has gone from a futuristic idea to an almost production-ready reality. It marks a significant evolution in how drivers interact with their vehicles.
The Panoramic iDrive, which BMW calls “close to production,” will begin appearing in its new models at the end of twenty twenty-five. The system combines advanced hardware with the all-new BMW Operating System X software to create an experience that is both functional and visually stunning. At the heart of this technology is the "Panoramic Vision" display, a sleek horizontal band that spans the entire dashboard, redefining the look and feel of the car’s interior.
One of the most notable changes is the removal of BMW’s iconic iDrive control knob. The traditional instrument cluster has also been replaced, with the Panoramic Vision display taking over entirely. This long, pillar-to-pillar screen is unlike anything seen before, offering a three-dimensional floating effect that appears on a reflective black band at the base of the windshield. This design ensures that drivers can view the display clearly, even while wearing polarized sunglasses. Achieving this effect required BMW engineers to reimagine the dashboard layout, moving it lower than in previous models to make the display as effective as possible.
The Panoramic Vision display provides all the essential information directly in front of the driver, such as speed and navigation. It also allows for customizable pods of data that can stretch across the screen or be hidden if the driver prefers a more minimalistic setup. The flexibility of the system ensures it is equally useful in both electric and traditional internal combustion engine vehicles, with classic gauges like the tachometer available for those driving gasoline-powered cars.
The Panoramic iDrive system also features a new touchscreen display mounted on the dashboard, where drivers will interact with the BMW Operating System X. This software builds on the familiar structure of iDrive nine, offering intuitive controls and quick access to frequently used functions like climate settings. Wireless integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is fully supported, ensuring that drivers can connect their smartphones seamlessly. The touchscreen also allows drivers to adjust all the settings for the Panoramic Vision display, making it easy to personalize the system to their preferences.
BMW is moving toward reducing the number of physical buttons in its cars, but it has not gone completely button-free. Key controls like windshield wipers, turn signals, headlights, mirror adjustments, and the gear selector are still physical, preserving some tactile familiarity for users. The redesigned steering wheel, however, introduces haptic touch buttons and a unique four-spoke design. These buttons light up only when their associated functions are active, making them intuitive and user-friendly.
Adding to the futuristic experience, BMW has developed a new suite of sounds called “HypersonX,” which will debut alongside the Panoramic iDrive system. These sounds are designed to enhance the driving experience and complement the innovative design of the system.
The first production vehicle equipped with the Panoramic iDrive system will be the Neue Klasse sport utility vehicle, which is expected to be unveiled later this year. With this groundbreaking technology, BMW is not just updating its cars but reshaping the way we think about the driving experience. The Panoramic iDrive is a bold statement of BMW’s commitment to innovation, setting a new benchmark for the automotive industry and offering a glimpse into the future of mobility.

    Пожалуйста!
Я вас очень прошу, BMW, не делайте в кривым дисплей мультимедиа!
    Делайте его ровным геометрически!

Lol- we copied Avatar 11 design is probably not as catchy as this presentation but that's exactly what has been done here. It's remarkably full circle- from Tesla now copying the front of many Chinese cars in it's latest Model Y to the Euro's now trying to mimick Chinese car interiors.

last year I basically thought BMW GUI and car designers should be just fired. Now I think they should be imprisoned lol :) ... we need real buttons back, we need v8 engines with no hybrid back, we need sports cars weight less than 2.5 ton, we need no piano black and original german car designs, not this kia BS design + childish useless colorful tablet interfaces you sell now. What you propose is new tablet animated user interface which nobody needs. Are you selling cars or cheap tablets :) ? time to back to BMW roots.
