Lakusta was no mug in the ring but Morrison probably thought he would knock the Canadian journeyman out easily. How wrong he was and he was quite lucky he was not disqualified for that vicious headbutt late in the fight. All in all, an interesting fight and one that exposed Morrison's lack of stamina. He was clearly gased here after just six rounds of action. 🥊
This fight here against Lukusta and a few years later with Yuri Vaulin was a prime example that Morrison began to unravel after 3-4 rounds. His trainers should’ve been aware of this and waited to put him in against Mercer until Morrison had more late round experience. I always said, he (Morrison) had unprofessional, inexperienced cornermen. A good trainer would’ve picked up on these things and would have NEVER put him in against Mercer at that stage.
