  • In this video, we cover my own personal experience ordering and purchasing a Ford Maverick. We had some serious issues dealing with the Ford and the dealership and ended up being owed back thousands of dollars that took nearly 6 months of fighting to recieve.

    I knew not to order my accessories ordering my truck. I had my accessories sitting at my house within a few weeks after ordering my truck. I went on the Ford accessory website and they actually had a 40% off coupon so I got lucky and called my friend who also ordered the Maverick and I alone ordered about $500 worth of stuff. He ordered about $300 worth of stuff.

    this is why i dont order accessories from manufactures, typically they cost double than amazon and comes with all these headaches, the only option i’d add is the spray in bed liner, thats it

      Absolutely the point I was making in the video!
      This was my first time buying a brand new vehicle so I was a bit unaware I guess, but I was also slightly aware of the cost increase. I only purchased accessories through the dealer because I initially wanted to make payments on them with the truck. I learned that was an AWFUL idea, and by making this video I hope I help others not make that mistake too.
      Like you said, WAY more expensive through the dealerships and a huge headache.
      I will say though, Ford's spray-in bedliner quality is fantastic. I love mine and am happy I did it, despite the longer wait time.

    Sounds to me like this was on the dealership not Ford. If you had no follow up until the very end from the sales manager it’s pretty clear the dealership didn’t follow up correctly with Ford.

    Always go used for roof racks and bed racks… I got a full Yakima setup (bed + roof) for about half of retail and was able to pick them up locally. That sort of thing is usually pretty readily available on FB/CL and not hard to negotiate a good price on. Plus no back order headaches

    I did not order this truck, I just contacted the dealerships around me and found a 2023 Maverick XLT Area 51 with BAP available. My drive out was around $31,000. I do not have the towing package because it's not available the time I went to the dealership and the full size spare tire. The salesman said the full size spare tire will not fit. I don't know why.

    With all the add-ons, why didn't you get the Lariat? It would have had FX4 and tow options. And why FX4 over Tremor?

    I never got notice that my dealership had my passengerside tool box!!!!! I waited for 2 months..... My dealership got it before!!! My Maverick actually arrived. I still have my Lumens bed lighting in under my rear seat! I'm not happy. But other than that. This little Truck is awesome.... I just hauled a new dishwasher, and air fryer stove today from Lowes. Getting 26 to 27 mpg...to boot. Mine is a FX4 too!

    I ordered 2024 Ford maverick XLT Hybrid Black appearance package alone with few accessories on july 17th order day by Appointment. Two days later received a email from ford that my order was accepted with ID number.
    After seeing this video I will call my Ford dealership and advice them I will pay separately accessories as you mentioned. Just build my truck with Black appearance package nothing and Luxury package nothing else.
    Hopefully this will help out witj the depand and received it by January 2024

    Put all the blame on the dealership! They hoped you would just away. I can't understand how you would think it was cheaper ordering accessories through ford? I hope they gave you your cash offers/ rebates from Ford. I got 2500.00 and 2750.00 off in rebates. If you call to check on your order, they will let you know what you have available due to how long you had to wait on your order. These dealerships are unbelievable!

    This September will be 2 years that since I have tried to get my 2022 Maverick.. Now it is going to be a 2023 model. My Dealer is says that if I don't get a vin number and production date by July 17 2023, they (my Ford Dealer) will upgrade it to a 2024 and keep the price protection. Well, we'll see.

      Thay sucks! On the bright side, I guess you'll be getting a newer Maverick with potentially less first-year issues? That'd be nice. I hope you get your VIN and build date soon though!

      Ask your dealership if you have a "Verified Order" and make them show it to you. Sounds like you have a retail order and not a verified order. Good luck getting Price Protection, I ordered mine in Sept, 2021 and the dealer will not honor the PP.

Ford emailed me over the weekend and said the if my Maverick is not on the production list by August 2 they will honor the price on the 2024 model as long as the dealer has puts in another onder for the 2024 year. From what I have seen, the price have gone up by around 25% and that the hybrid is no longer standard and will cost $1500 more to get. th-cam.com/video/p-bWBjWod60/w-d-xo.html. Damn they discontinued the color I wanted. Alto Blue. Now what??

      Personally, i would check around online first for a better deal.
      If you do order through Ford, I'd confirm that it is in stock and not on backorder first before ordering

    Ford is pathetic. I have an order with my closest dealership and have been waiting over a year now. Another dealership had a cancellation and i was offered to purchase however the dealership refused to take my ford employee discount pin#. They said the truck was too popular to allow me to use my discount pin#.!! So if they treat their own employees like this i could only imagine how they treat a regular buyer.

      These videos are designed to be be a "podcast" type informational video, without the boringness of just sitting in a chair talking I to a microphone for a half hour. I try to include as much important info as I can for people who need that info and can't find it elsewhere which is why it's a little long.

I have found a lot of useful stuff and interesting stuff and sometimes some paranoid stuff, but all in all I'd rather have all the information then none at all. So I totally support whatever you get into and I'll be right there paying attention to seeing what you do next and how your experience goes. I feel there's nothing better than somebody who is into it as much as I am and also paying attention and learning from it, because there's so many who don't.

      They are the ones on Ford's accessory website. Not sure if they're still on there, I ordered mine with the truck for model year 2022

      Here is the link for you. They are stupid expensive now though. When I bought them with the truck they were several hundred bucks less.

    The Ford tracking system is a courtesy and there isn't much news from order acceptance until sending to production so what do you want them to do? Most dealers don't do markups on customer orders just on lot sales and that is common for most car brands right now. Sounds like you and the dealer dropped the ball on timely communication not Ford. Many of us know it is cheaper to buy accessories directly from the vendors. Anytime you add another middleman adds more money.

      When many people who ordered these trucks were required to put money down by the dealers they went through, the tracking system needs to be improved. Holding a customers money for up to a year and a half in some cases without any updates on priority level is wrong. Additionally, again, the tracker is way off in terms of updating to show real time even after the truck is in productions and has recieved a VIN. It's just a poor system.
      In regard to dealers marking up orders, there are countless folks who have ordered and them had the dealer attempt to add insane markups. It's been a nonstop issue all across the country. It has happened so frequently in fact that Ford's CEO has weighed in on the issue several times. It isn't just a few people...
      Sure many people know that accessories are cheaper when bought directly from manufacturers, and I did as well. As I stated in the video, I still ordered the accessories through Ford because having them included with the trucks payment plan was a convenient option for me at the time. The point of talking about it was to encourage people who DONT already know to do their research. The point of this video is to help people not make the mistake that I made. If you already know all of this, that is great to hear! Not everyone does, though.

      @maverickoverlandadventures Jeep had a tracking system a few years ago but so many people bitched about it they shut it down. The dealer has the most up tp date info and should be the source. A FEW dealers marked up retail order prices but those customers should of researched the dealer integrity before ordering from them. State franchise laws limit what Ford can make a dealer do including pricing. They can limit allocations but they are getting sued by dealers for doing that.

    That truck looks nice but I would never ever buy a ford as long as Toyota is coming out with their new 2024 mini pickup truck. 😊

      I agree that Toyotas quality is likely going to be better on their new mini truck, but I also imagine that the price is going to be significantly higher than the Maverick's to make that happen.
      The only other option that I see possible is that they will make the truck cheap and affordable but the quality won't be up to par with the rest of their line-up in order to get it down that cheap, and toyota fans that buy them for their known quality will be dissatisfied.
      I could be wrong of course, but thats just my speculation.
      Either way, I think the new Toyota truck will be badass! Also, I'm quite happy with my Maverick so far so I don't have any complaints
