    I love Yolink. I took their Shake & Glass Breakage Sensor and put it IN MY TRUCK THAT SITS ON THE STREET. The Yolink range makes it possible unlike 99% of all other sensors. With the Shake and Break sensor, I protected my old Tacoma from having someone help themselves to its catalytic converter saving my hundreds of dollars. Think about it. For ~$30 you can add an alarm that doesn't annoy your neighbors, but sends you emails, SMS or an alert or siren in/out side your house. All kinds of great protection. My truck sat on the street 90' from my garage. You could do this with it even sitting in your driveway, right? You are not limited to the Shake and Break either. Door or Motion sensors work well there too.

    As a YoLink fan, I'm glad to see you covering their products. You could also put the YoLink plug with energy monitoring on the refrigerator in the garage to see what it's costing you for the convenience of having it. It looks like a pretty nice one, though, which is likely pretty well insulated. Also, you mentioned WiFi with the sensors a couple of times. These devices don't use WiFi, but LoRa which is totally different and why the range is so good. It's also why you need the hub as it has the LoRa radio in it which doesn't exist in household router networks. I know you know this, but was just mentioning it. Thanks again for what you're doing. Their stuff serves a niche largely ignored by the other manufacturers of home automation devices.

    A couple of things. The reason the freezer temp fluctuates is the defrost cycle. Also, you might consider leaving a 1/4" gap in the door sensors, as that is about how far apart they can be and still give a close. If the door is "almost" closed with yours it could read closed. I bought these sensors/hub a long time ago because of your video, but never actually installed them. Today, I got off my butt and installed these 2 and will be buying a bunch more Yolink stuff. Keep up the good work.

      Hi Bill, Yes. . . another reason I like the YOLINK contact sensors is they can be spaced further apart than others. I was concerned with that on my freezer door, it was almost 1/2 apart and it still worked! I would have to say, the Yolink smart devices have been 100% reliable for me. I can't say that for any other wifi, zigbee, or z-wave devices. You'll be very impressed with your yolink devices. I even have a yolink hub in our RV now :) Thanks for the comment! -Todd

    I need to let everyone know here, that my Garage Refrigerator is NOW SMARTER than my Samsung smart refrigerator! My Samsung Smart Refrigerator CAN'T detect leaks and I like having instant messages and warning right on my phone. Yeah, I'm a GEEK, no ordinary person would be monitoring all of this stuff.

      I've also used the outdoor motion sensor in my driveways to make an announcement on my echo show and show my Arlo camera. The plus with these products are the long range, ease of setup, and reliability.

    Great video we just got one delivered today for our chest freezer in the basement. Question - with 1 hub could we also get a 2nd sensor for the garage fridge/freezer ? And run it off our 1 hub

    Thank you for these videos showing how to use the yolink products, your instructions are much better than the instructions they send. As I was connecting the 15 leak sensors I just bought, I found myself wondering how to change the batteries when they do eventually go bad. There's no battery door that I can see and it looks like they'd have to be opened up like an iPhone. Any insight?

    • @twHomeShow
      @twHomeShow  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Matt, In order to replace the batteries in the Yolink leak sensors, you'll have to take a paperclip and straighten the paperclip end. Take the paperclip and push-in on the rubber feet on the bottom of the leak sensor...don't worry, just push the feet down and try to flip it sideways with the paperclip - then pull out the rubber feet with the paperclip. There, you will discover the philips screws to open the leak sensor. Thank you for you compliments :) -Todd

    How do I set up alexa to tell me the temperature like you did in the video?

  • @myutube6422
    @myutube6422 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I maybe missing something with the setup or routines with the contact sensors. I haven't been able to figure out how to get an audio alert on Alexa if a refer/freezer door is left open longer than a minute. It will tell me that the door is opened. I've tried a number of options, but have not figured it out. I know that you are busy goofing off, but when you figure it out

      I'm really intersted in getting audio alerts for when doors are left open. But I haven't found a way using alexa, ifft or just the app. I can use the siren, which is great for the freezer, but overkill for the front door. I saw Yolink is going to be releasing a speaker that should have audio alerts. Also I think there may be a way to do it with tasker and pushbullet, but I need to look into it more.

    • @Vesztho
      @Vesztho 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I found a way to do it using Tasker and AutoVoice to run an Alexa routine to announce the door is still open. Such a PITA.

    • @realtyrocks1969
      @realtyrocks1969 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@twHomeShow thanks. I've seen those but they aren't really a glass break sensor. A glassbreak sensor will pick up on the sounds of glass breaking and cover several windows in a short area. These just pick up on vibration.

    What did you make your freezer and fridge high temperature settings in order to compensate for the normal door openings and defrosting, which can significantly raise the temperature? This can cause many false alarms is you don't have the settings right. You did not explain this in your video which I feel was an important omission!!

    • @twHomeShow

      I set my Freezer warning at 8F and Refrigerator at 48F.

  • @tracyrinks1

    How do you set a high temp alarm for refrigerators and freezers ? My kitchen refrigerator was accidentally turned off yesterday and the temp went to 58.1. I just happened to look at the app and noticed the high temp. I want to be alerted if they go over a certain temp.

    • @FlyinZX10R
      @FlyinZX10R 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      On the details page for the temperature sensor, there are two sliders. One for temperature and one for humidity. Any number that’s in between the two sliders and with the blue line is within temps/humidity that you want. Anything in the red zone is the alarm zone. You also need to set up an automation routine for it saying what you want it to do when it’s in the alarm phase. It’s like “if this happens, this is the reaction I want. Hope this helps
