The importance of stealth and parkour. Say what you will about the new ac games, but it feels like parkour and stealth is slowly being dumbed down and removed. I miss killing a guy, throwing a smoke bomb to cover my tracks then leaping across rooftops to get behind the guy who spotted me. It doesn't feel like I have options now. It's either combat or more combat. You never get that good feeling of outsmarting your enemies because your only option is being stronger than them, not smarter or faster.
What? U must be referring the RPG franchise, The stealth is still there in the RPG franchise, yes theres less environments n buildings in the RPG franchise, but many of the "OUTPOSTS" or "Palace"sections are stealth-able (yes u still need to be stronger or atleast equal with the enemies), and thats... it's on you tbh But, I get it's not everyone play RPG type of games, I do find the RPG AC franchise doesn't have a problem because I play other games that are non RPG and RPG like games even MMOs too so I used to the grinding system etc and can apprehend the grinding strategy at ease, grind before doing important missions strat is the right choice if I can give u a suggestion on how to play it correctly not just rushing all through main story like the old AC franchise To tell u something, the longer a franchise running n keep continues is we as the player adapt to the game itself If u sometimes find the grind is a chore, try to do some research 1st for what you should get 1st on your current state to narrow things down, the AC RPG franchise had sub quests meant for that So at the end you wanna play head on it's a choice, you wanna play it stealthy it's a choice, you wanna play both stealthy n head on combat incase things doesn't run smooth it's also a choice This makes me remember how some people reacted on the newer franchise of Splinter Cell because it's became more like stealth-action game, at the end we as the player that adapt to the game, hell even splinter cell conviction and blacklist if u play it correctly it came out as a cool fast paced stealth-action execution ever, like a movie protagonists can do, same goes with AC RPG franchise
@Bagus Prayogo I see both points. I miss being able to jump around and parkour to get a good air assassination. The RPG element isn't so bad, and I love RPGs. However, I feel like with the AC franchise, the stealth is steadily getting worse. To tell the truth, when I saw Valhalla announced, I was excited for a viking style RPG...but was immediately disappointed when I found out it was AC and not something new. I love Greek mythology, but I could never play Odyssey. It got boring quick, because I was there for Assassins. Valhalla I really haven't picked up too much so I can't judge for certain, but I couldn't play it long either. Getting targets, with many ways to kill them, many different ways to infiltrate, and many escape routes. I miss the older AC, not saying the newer ones are worse since I can't even pick them up to play them. I feel like if it wasn't AC, and a new title of sorts, I could pick them up and play them like any game
I always focused more on stealth when I play AC games and it’s still doable in Orgin and Odyseey as long as you upgrade assassination skills but I agree now it’s more full out combat than stealth based sadly
This would be a perfect mechanic to return in a Bayek sequel. Imagine the stories that could unfold if parts of it were randomized. Like the Nemesis system but it’s be a Mentor System.
They have the framework in Watch Dogs Legion to have people be unique with a lot of variety, it would be really cool to have your assassins be that unique in a mentor system.
It's a great comparison; replaying Brotherhood & Revelations made me see the similarities with Shadow of Mordor/Shadow of War's recruitment side of the Nemesis system, and see them as echoes of an idea that would become one of the best gaming mechanics to be created. When Warner Bros.' patent of the Nemesis system expires, I'd think implementing it into an Assassin's Creed game would be the perfect fit, but with its own different spin to fit the theme of being an assassin. Imagine if templar assassins came after you, and your recruits could save you from sudden death like in Shadow of War...that would make Assassin's Creed so compulsively fun.
I only learned about the send off cutscene in my second playthrough of Brotherhood and it surprisingly gutted me since I'm not usually the type to get emotionally invested game mechanics/resources. I never let it happen again. I always worried about whether or not I was calling my apprentices into unwinnable fights.
This feature is why brotherhood was so popular. I was wholeheartedly confused and disappointed when I saw that this feature was no longer being used. It makes you feel like you're a part of the assassin brotherhood and not just some random loner in a hood.
I whole heartedly agree! I miss the recruitment mechanic from Brotherhood and Liberations. It was so fun to bring in assassin recruits to help on missions
Oh my GOD you hit on the money! Dude this is literally my FAVORITE aspect of the Ezio trilogy! I been wishing for more of this forEVER 🙌 I mean you could clearly see how much AC3 and beyond focused more on delivering a more base-story centered game.. This was little, but it was a huge concept man..
The Civil War is a divisive point in history that I've always thought would be lit for AC. Lots of neat battles and events, strong political and moral themes, I loved the colonial setting of III, so it would be neat to see the evolution of technology between the revolution and the mid 1800s
One hit kill assassinations regardless of enemy level need to come back. The whole point of being an assassin is one well placed stab can kill someone and change the world. I love Odyssey but I hate that I cant actually assassinate anyone!
Yeah that annoyed me from new series, how a well placed blade to the brain wasn't an instant takedown, but at least they added the setting to turn it on in Origins on PC at least and it was in the options for Odyssey. I didn't play Valhalla, but I heard it was there, just not available for big enemies in the world which sounds weird to me.
The thing i think is missing nowadays, at least correct me if I'm wrong it's been years, but, since they introduced levels to characters the stealthy assassination i do believe only takes chunks of health away from characters, whilst really a stealth kill should always be fatal. Maybe make it harder to pull off with harder enemies but it dhoumd always kill
In odyssey you can make a build to have a 100 crit chance and deal massive damage on assassination wich makes you one shot shot enemy easy, if you want to keep a simple gameplay for the game and make it feel more like an ac, just use the blade of yumminess wich gives you 250% more damage but no abilities. That’s the best I know for odyssey. Valhalla has an option to one shot everyone with assassination and origins makes you assassinate everyone at your level or lower in one hit except for the phylakitai
What about how it’s implemented in Syndicate? It’s bn sooo long since I played that I forget the details of how Syndicate recruitment system worked but it’s odd to me that this game was mentioned at all in the video
@@solidkwon Syndicate doesn't let you recruit individual gang members, if you see one on the street you can make them follow you. You can buy upgrades for your gang members and buy different classes of gang member, but the system is not very similar to Brotherhood's recruit system.
@@outstandingdogmarron2567 yea that’s true. But otherwise I think you do similar things. You dont recruit individuals but you do customize them and… i can’t remember if there was a mechanic to send them out on missions?
@@solidkwon the closest to missions involving them is the gang fights you have to do in order to take over an area of the map. I enjoy the Rooks but I think there should have been more to it, like having to defend your areas of the map like the base defence in Revelations.
The cool stuff in revelations was that the templars you kill with your fellow master assassins were the multiplayer characters you could play as in the mode.
I stopped playing post ac3 so I always thought they where still doing this, it’s sad that there not because I really enjoyed helping the civilians and seeing them slowly become skilled members of my brotherhood
That’s another thing, I do agree on this mechanic. I miss this mechanic from the old games, and greatly disappoints in AC3. Which they don’t even use assassin apparel just their civilian clothes. But I hope to see this in Mirage, maybe as an end game thing. To stabilise the hidden ones in Baghdad before you meet Sigurd
Totally agree, there's a feeling of power and god like being able to send in your assassin's to kill at will. Brotherhood (best acr imho) did this so well. Hopefully Unisoft has learnt their lesson and make future games on this mold.
I too like the rpg games (minus valhalla for obvious reasons) but I do think the assassin recruitment/missions mechanic and actually the city defense minigame in revelations was my favorite of all the ac games. It was a good way to make money and get an extra level of power in the game.
Assasins Creed is one of my favourite series of all time. The games until Unity where fantastic. Hopefully Mirage will bring what it promised. I always loved the assassin recruitment system and I could get some really cool kills especially with the arrow storms. One time an assassin I had died that I had built up. Ezio said his rest in peace Italian line and I was very sad.
They ruined parkour in the newer games, and recruitment was amazing in brotherhood. Was building the guild and brotherhood of assassins. Also loved the chain assassinations of brotherhood as well.
There's actually a rare chance for your recruits to die from your Apple of Eden. That happens to me during the final battles against the Borgia while using the Piece of Eden. It's very rare, but it will happen.
An awesome video as per usual, Jay! 😁👍👍 I’d love to see a top 5 video on mechanics that would benefit the AC series by being brought back. 😄👌🦅🗡 Cheers to you, my man! 🥃🥃
The mechanic I want back? My big one; LET ASSASSINS ACTUALLY BE ASSASSINS. I liked the RPG elements since Unity > Syndicate > Origins but I feel like it fell off on Odyssey and maybe Valhalla. I'd like stealth to be actually stealth. I wanna use my hidden blade in combat, not to quietly assassinate. Lemme jump freely because I wanna be a goomba for a second, not purely parkour. I'm hoping Mirage is the love letter to the series and will bring everything that works so well along with new stuff! I dont know what the story has been since Origins but I hope both the memory assassin plot and the modern day still makes sense/has a purpose, at least.
Bring back skillful parkour. The parkour used to have options and a bit of a skill curve but an easy one, and it felt way more engaging and interesting than just "hold A to go up and B to go down"
I just finished the story for Brotherhood for the PS4 collection It's still as good as I remembered, I think its Ezios peak game out of the three for the terms of gameplay
I really really love the recruiting in AC Brotherhood. The only thing I really can't stand is when a recruit becomes an assassin, they dress just like Ezio and I thought that was very cringe, confusing and annoying. I don't know what made Ubisoft do that and I never understood why this was. If anybody knows why PLEASE explain this to me. I feel like it would be more unique if they had their own personal costume or at least an option to customize their outfits.
I'll run a brotherhood, if there is an achievement(s) for it, but I don't bother past that point. I'm a solo player only. Don't want to play with companions, guild mates, NPC, friends or others. Even when I play MMO's, I solo play everything that I can and quit when I have to run with others. So, that mechanic is lost on me and other lone wolves like me.
omg your so righht, bring back the recruitements pleaseee , i have been addicted to this feauture sicne then , why jsut why not improve it and make this a must i nevre yassassins creed title till the end of time

I will battle every day
To claim my rightful place
Come with me, the time is right
