    My most unforgettable trip was my trip to Madrid, Spain. I hit the road with my highschool friends, Can and Efe. After the plane landed at Madrid airport, we went to our hotel by taxi. When we arrived the hotel, it was eleven pm. We wanted to see Madrid's georgeous places. That's why we planned to wake up at seven o'clock, because the early bird catches the worm. After we saw lots of magnificent historical buildings, we went to Santiago Barnebau to watch the exhibition match between Real Madrid and Barcelona. I was on cloud nine because watching el-clasico was my childhood dream. At the end of the match, Arda Güler, famous Turkish football player, came to the stands to greet the fans and signed my real madrid jersey. It was a memory I will remember forever

      Nice story, I feel jealous! Lol
      Here are a couple of notes:
      *When we arrived “at” the hotel
      *Madrid’s “stunning” places. “Gorgeous” is better suited when used to describe a person.
      In the closing, you could also say: “it was a moment that will be engraved in my memory forever”

    I was born and raised in Ankara, but then my family moved to Izmir because of my father's job transfer. My brother was born and breed in Izmır. The first year after moving to a new city was hard, but eventually I got the hang of living in a new city. I found a new job in Izmir and started working in a tech company because I was passionate about technology. Even though getting used to the new working environment is not effortless, I worked hard and managed to earn the love of my managers. Many times I worked throughout nights, like a night owl, even on weekends. My managers considered promoting me, however they were on the fence on my promotion. After 2-week debate process, they announced my promotion. I was over the moon when I heard the announcement. I think promotion is a double edged sword, because while my salary rose, my responsibilites also increased

      Well done, I’m glad to see the progress :D 👏 👏
      Here is some feedback:
      I was born and raised in Ankara but then we had to move to Izmir due to my father’s job.
      My brother is also from Izmir, born and bred. The first year after moving was tough but eventually I got the hang of living in a new city. …..Even though getting used to the new working environment was not easy, I worked hard and managed to earn the love and respect of my managers…..
      * With “born and raised” you can always use it after saying I’m from that place, then you add “born and raised” Or “born and raised”
      * The use of effortless is not necessarily wrong but it doesn’t sound natural to me. Sometimes it’s better to keep things simple, “easy” does the job
      Inspiring story! Thanks for sharing!

    please can this idioms be use in writing too.

    • @IELTSFastlane
      @IELTSFastlane  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      These idioms are relevant to the speaking part, some of them are informal so it depends if you are taking the academic or the general IELTS test. But overall, the topics you get in the writing task are different than the speaking, for example you don't get to discuss personal information, hobbies, emotions and so forth..in an academic writing test you should use a neutral tone. But perhaps "double edged sword" and "to be on the fence" can be used. I hope that helps :)

    Is it okay if i just use 5 idioms, and not use idioms for the rest of the questions?
    or is it much better if you could use idioms for all the questions ?

    • @IELTSFastlane
      @IELTSFastlane  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You don’t need to use an idiom for every single question, if you’re planning on using 5, it’s probably more than enough! I read once that the average number of idioms used by Band 9 candidate was only 1-2 idioms.
