Hi guys, any idea if the Leaf ZE1 smaller head unit (7" display, 2018 car) can be replaced with a newer one (8" display, 2021 car). I could get a good deal on one...

So I bit the bullet for science and turns out it can be replaced with the new one. Cables are a direct fit. Most things work, but for whatever reason my 360 cameras and steering wheel controls do not function. I suspect this head unit is from a lesser trim (S/SV vs SL) but it should be a universal part so maybe some Nissan dealer magic is needed.

@@haratang1140 Sure! I'll keep you updated. Dealer just confirmed that the part number for this headunit is universal between trim levels at least. I emailed their service dept to ask whether it needs a configuration change or something to work with my car. Let's see what they respond🤞

@@drienties Hi, we're close to getting it working, check out our project thread on MyNissanLeaf.com forum. The pinouts have changed between model years but we have the pinout diagrams posted. For me, I've got it all working now except the 360 cameras, going to the dealer next week as it may just be a configuration issue.
