Most houses in Belgium have a brick facade, in recent years these plain facades are becoming popular because of the insulation it provides, and I guess people like the look.
Wow! Loved your video, with a bit of humor sprinkled in. You shined that cool old house up. You poured your heart and soul into it! These old homes are so much work to renovate, I love to see them become livable again
I definitely would have kept the Brick but that is obviously not the look the new owner was wanting. I wonder if the insulation factor played a part in that.

The question is more 'nuanced' when you unbuild almost all the house. In term of material apparence, If you insulate from the inside you keep the look outside. But If you insulate from the outside, nobody keeps you from letting the brick inside on some walls !

Tu peux faire comme eux et isoler par l'extérieur et ensuite, au lieu de mettre une finition avec un thème béton, acheter des briquettes de parement. C'est une brique mais de quelques millimètres d'épaisseur. On aurait pu garder le style du quartier. Après, je suppose qu'ils voulaient justement se démarquer et montrer que eux modernisent leur habitat.
I quite liked the exterior brick. I'm surprised that the city would allow it to be covered. In Toronto you have to get city approval and permits for everything. Maybe things aren't as bureaucratic in Belgium.
Crépi et couleur sur les façades, c'est du travail éternel à refaire, tandis que la brique ne demande aucun entretien, ma maison a maintenant 45 ans et rien n'a du être fait au niveau des façades, elles sont toujours impeccables. Nous voulions aussi une façade blanche mais notre entreprise de construction nous l'avait déconseillé, merci beaucoup pour leur conseil
C'est en effet mieux, mais l'isolation par l'extérieur ne doit pas laisser le choix. Un pan de façade a été garni du même revêtement que le toit et les autres sont protégées par de belles avancées du toit. Ça durera plus longtemps ainsi...

c'est tellement dommage de détruire l'aspect passé d'une vielle maison : où est passé la vielle et belle architecture, au lieu de laisser place à une uniformisation générale sans goût, qui fait "moderne" et "plus propre" ?

Made a big mess ruined a lot of old original style for no reason other then change, wasted alot i of old wood which should been re- used. destroyed tile floor and added insulation that did not need? older home have to breath.

L'enduit moderne va très mal vieillir, on le voit sur les maisons neuves.... La maison est devenue sans âme.... Triste....

If you’re going to do all of that you might as well demolish the whole thing to the foundation and start from scratch. Personally I would have kept the Victorian brick look. I do like the tile ceramic roof though. Any outside wood like fascia boards and brick molding should be pvc and not wood. Always build it to last.
A lot of effort has put into this project. In fact, only the original walls and foundation has been used. The rest is completely renewed. After all, do you think that it could be done quicker if you build up from scratch? If so, what is the reason that you took this approach?
What's the point of buying an old house if you are going to renovate everything that's charming out of it? If you want the clean and sterile look just build a new one. You've put in a hell of a lot of work removing the character this place once had. Just makes me sad every time I see it.

This is house renovation on a totally new level! Ive seen a multitude of renovations but never one as comprehensive as this house The preparation was 1st class & attention to every detail was amazing! You must have added a good 100years extra life to this house So much work but so worth it Im pleased to see a female among the workforce Ive not only done renovation work myself but know many females who compete with the best male house renovators & builders but dont feature enough in projects such as shown in this Video Damn fine female craftsperson! I thought the house looked wonderful afterwards & although i like natural building materials, i think this house needed the more modern look I thoroughly enjoyed this video & learned alot even at the speeded up version Its a refreshing change to see the structural integrity of a building fully covered as opposed to the interior renovation & decoration Thank you for this video You all deserve an award for the incredible hard work you all put in, if ever i needed a renovation team & if money was no object id hire you all to come & do some work on my house projects in the far north of England near the Scottish borders Well done! Watching videos like this are such sweet torture for me. I mean I should be able to do this and sometimes I do have the energy for a fraction of what you guys did, but as an add-tribe-member with a chronic lung-disease I need to be aware of my limitations. It feels like every part of the old house is gone. Building a complete new house would have been more effective. But the isolation is on top now!

Thank you. Yes cause we transform the wall exterior and it’s was broke. Also we want to choose the best insulation so it was extern insulation 🙂

The preparation was 1st class & attention to every detail was amazing!

I thought the house looked wonderful afterwards & although i like natural building materials, i think this house needed the more modern look
