Since you need the Sound Stone to even get to Deep Darkness, with or without cheat codes, it's pretty difficult. If you somehow manage to trigger the Buzz Buzz text using a code that randomly generates lines of text from the game, you can get Buzz Buzz outside of Onett, and with already having the Sound Stone. Basically, you just get lucky while messing around.
Walking is just much more romantic than running at ultrasonic speeds to get to places instantaneously. (I'm a photographic genius if I do say so myself)

I never knew Itoi actually said Tony was gay. I always had a hunch he was, but thought I was reading too much into it. Cool that he did that to reflect the real world more even in a time period where gay people, let alone gay children, were so taboo.
For 1994 this game did a better job at portraying a gay character than a good amount of fiction does today. Sure it's a character with a small role but you get the point.
I'll tell you some more. In Mother 3 there is a guy who limps, he's actually one of the main characters. Itoi is really about this whole inclusion business. Which is great.
It really is a great portrayal. He is a minor character, but I think that works to the advantage of realistically portraying him as just a person and in giving the audience just enough screen time to let them figure out a childhood crush without overdoing it.

When I was at the end of Superstar Saga as a kid, I thought for some reason that after the credits I'd be able to revisit the Mushroom Kingdom and explore since I saved everyone. Oracle of Seasons and Ages don't just restart you at the final boss after beating it, so I was hoping for the same here.

I need to be honest... I used to not like this game whatsoever. I think the big problem was seeing something when I was recovering from brain surgeries five years or so ago and I struggled to see the game. In addition to that, I think it was a sprite during a battle that bugged me as well and feelings compacted pretty quickly from that alone. After seeing the game LP to nearly the end, I've realized that I shouldn't have passed such a judgement like that even from a time in my life where I was incredibly bitter at even the smallest things. This game is a literal diamond and I'm beyond happy with having that change of heart. Thank you so much for redoing this LP to give it everything from then to now, Chugga!
that little bit about tony having a crush on jeff made me so, so happy. like you have no idea. earthbound is just such a funky game and with all other stuff going on i never realized!! and i am so happy you told us this, because i myself discovered im lgbt when i was around 11 years old, which is presumably the same age as tony and the main cast. it's such a tiny detail but im sure i'm not the only person who felt joy upon hearing this

I didn't talk to any of the characters outside of Saturn valley. I talked to a few, but I couldn't find any that changed, so I returned Paula home and ended the game, but made sure to put a restore point before I started the credits. I specifically tried Threed and Summers, so no wonder I got no luck out of it. Though I did see Poo in dallam! As well, you can't teleport in prince poo's castle either, even though Poo did it in a cutscene.

I started watching this Let’s play before a big switch in my educational life and as I was finally able to start working on my first TH-cam video, as it was progressing i started the “getting to know you” phase at school and I was able to release the video. I’m watching this last episode before my first full fledged classes begin, and while I’m trimming down the footage for my next project whenever I’ve got an opening. I’m so glad that both this game and the man playing it will have this place in my mind as I move forward.

Xenoblade X also had gay characters. You may not've noticed though because that reveal is hidden before the end of an optional set of quests that you may or may not've skipped the cutscenes for.
@@kylecampbell565 Zero/Niles for M Corn, Rhajat/Not Tharja for F Corn, and I'm pretty sure you get locked out of Kana if you choose to go gay (I don't think you get locked out of Nina if you pair Niles and M Corn, as I think she's adopted or something on that route), so that's not really a good implementation of gay characters if it can prevent you from getting 100%.
@@kylecampbell565 And Treehouse localized that game and ruined a large portion of it from extremely neutering a "gameplay" mechanic and removing some customization items (even though Raider weapons, Sophie's unique skill, and I think crits still remove characters clothes, you can view characters in their underwear except Kana with the customization system, and the hotsprings are still a thing) as well as changing a bunch of "inappropriate" dialogue and reducing some of the characters to tropes and one severely overplayed trait, so even those other problems with the gay Fates characters weren't a thing, it wouldn't be worth it considering everything else that was removed.
I never thought about Tony being gay because I had written off any chance of it happening because this game was released in the 90s. But hearing that segment made me so happy, and I couldn't believe Itoi did it so beautifully. As a member of the LGBT+ community myself, I'm forever grateful for Tony.
The one time I get sick and can't go to School, Chugga or Masae doesn't upload. Finally I recover and prepare for school, and then I see a notification from Chugga! Talk about hard luck

I'm glad it meant so much to you! It was something I wanted to be careful with, not giving the viewer any more information than what the game does until the very end. I wanted him to be just another person through the story.
This was such a joy to watch, seeing the peaceful aftermath of everything just really felt great. Plus it was kinda like a convenient date around the world for Ness & Paula heh heh.
This entire video, no- this entire series, has been an absolute joy, but one of my favorite moments from this video specifically was the call to Ness' Mom. It was incredibly heartwarming.
This was truly one of my favorite let's plays you have ever done. I was skeptical about watching at first cause this is not my type of game but i can now say that I'll be looking for the perfect emulator to play this on. This was one of the most fascinating games I've ever seen and i felt really invovled in this little world. I especially like the praying part of the last episode, it was a nice touch and a great way to end the adventure adding to the whole hands-on approach this game takes.
This has been such an adventure. Again Emile, thank you so much for sharing with us. . . . also I find it amusing that in my recommended feed is the Game Theory episode on San's Secret Identity.
@ChuggaaConroy If you read this there is something I really want you to try out. What happens if you take Paula back home after losing to the boss fight after the game ends? She would technically be dead when having to have a skit that requires her to be alive yet at a time the game considers to not be an area where you can die. Please show this off in the glitch video for us. Great LP btw loved the old one as well and think you did an amazing job. Big Earthbound fan had it on cartridge and the player's guide thanks for bringing back fond memories.

I've been following you... not quite from the start, but I did watch all your older LPs once I discovered your challenge, so I remember your first playthrough and with each one, your passion for the games you play never fails to bring a smile to my face. I am always in awe of the amount of work you put into the presentation and research for your videos. And of course, the personal anecdotes and childhood memories people associate with these games, for better and for worse, is what I love about Let's plays in general.
ive watched this lp a few times in the past 3 years(already?!) and everytime at onepoint(i don't remember exactly) when your in summers and take to tony i always think how adorable and easy I see how much tony likes jeff and everytime I forget about this moment(thanks bad memory) but everytime I watch the beginning of this episode where you explain that I always think "I WAS RIGHT!!!!" then "oh ya I forgot about this but I was still right!" lol
Haven't watched the full thing yet, but Emile making a special note of Tony being gay seriously made my day - that and Emile confirming that he himself is on the spectrum in an earlier episode. I've been watching for 8 years and I couldn't be happier, especially knowing he's autistic just like me. Kind of a personal thing I guess, but having someone like Emile - who's kind, supportive and overall a wonderful person - to relate to with something like that makes things a bit better. A thing that so many people complained about certain games is that you don't see the world change after you saved it. In earthbound/mother, you do, that's so special.
There is a certain game that I see all up in this game. A game that I knew was inspired by this, but WOW, the references are unreal!!! Not gonna mention the game by name, but it has Skeletons, motherly goats, Anime, and robot movie stars. I think it's Fortnite?
This made for a nice epilogue. Worth sitting there collectively for an hour for. Glad to see that representation was considered back over 25 years ago even if it had to be hidden....I wonder if Jeff's attracted to boys somehow too. That'd be an interesting route to go and provide hope for Tony yet.

When I was at the end of Superstar Saga as a kid, I thought for some reason that after the credits I'd be able to revisit the Mushroom Kingdom and explore since I saved everyone.
Oracle of Seasons and Ages don't just restart you at the final boss after beating it, so I was hoping for the same here.

I'd like to thank you personally for a re-lp (dang that sounds cool) that demonstrates the hard work and love for this game. You've matured so much since then. You stopped the gay jokes and immature humor while growing into who you are today.

I need to be honest... I used to not like this game whatsoever. I think the big problem was seeing something when I was recovering from brain surgeries five years or so ago and I struggled to see the game. In addition to that, I think it was a sprite during a battle that bugged me as well and feelings compacted pretty quickly from that alone.
After seeing the game LP to nearly the end, I've realized that I shouldn't have passed such a judgement like that even from a time in my life where I was incredibly bitter at even the smallest things. This game is a literal diamond and I'm beyond happy with having that change of heart. Thank you so much for redoing this LP to give it everything from then to now, Chugga!

I didn't talk to any of the characters outside of Saturn valley. I talked to a few, but I couldn't find any that changed, so I returned Paula home and ended the game, but made sure to put a restore point before I started the credits. I specifically tried Threed and Summers, so no wonder I got no luck out of it. Though I did see Poo in dallam! As well, you can't teleport in prince poo's castle either, even though Poo did it in a cutscene.

I started watching this Let’s play before a big switch in my educational life and as I was finally able to start working on my first TH-cam video, as it was progressing i started the “getting to know you” phase at school and I was able to release the video. I’m watching this last episode before my first full fledged classes begin, and while I’m trimming down the footage for my next project whenever I’ve got an opening. I’m so glad that both this game and the man playing it will have this place in my mind as I move forward.

Zero/Niles for M Corn, Rhajat/Not Tharja for F Corn, and I'm pretty sure you get locked out of Kana if you choose to go gay (I don't think you get locked out of Nina if you pair Niles and M Corn, as I think she's adopted or something on that route), so that's not really a good implementation of gay characters if it can prevent you from getting 100%.

And Treehouse localized that game and ruined a large portion of it from extremely neutering a "gameplay" mechanic and removing some customization items (even though Raider weapons, Sophie's unique skill, and I think crits still remove characters clothes, you can view characters in their underwear except Kana with the customization system, and the hotsprings are still a thing) as well as changing a bunch of "inappropriate" dialogue and reducing some of the characters to tropes and one severely overplayed trait, so even those other problems with the gay Fates characters weren't a thing, it wouldn't be worth it considering everything else that was removed.

I never thought about Tony being gay because I had written off any chance of it happening because this game was released in the 90s. But hearing that segment made me so happy, and I couldn't believe Itoi did it so beautifully. As a member of the LGBT+ community myself, I'm forever grateful for Tony.

Here we go the finale it’s been a great LP with great moments and this made me try out earthbound so thank you Chuggaconroy for another great LP
This was truly one of my favorite let's plays you have ever done. I was skeptical about watching at first cause this is not my type of game but i can now say that I'll be looking for the perfect emulator to play this on. This was one of the most fascinating games I've ever seen and i felt really invovled in this little world. I especially like the praying part of the last episode, it was a nice touch and a great way to end the adventure adding to the whole hands-on approach this game takes.
This has been such an adventure. Again Emile, thank you so much for sharing with us.

@ChuggaaConroy If you read this there is something I really want you to try out. What happens if you take Paula back home after losing to the boss fight after the game ends? She would technically be dead when having to have a skit that requires her to be alive yet at a time the game considers to not be an area where you can die. Please show this off in the glitch video for us. Great LP btw loved the old one as well and think you did an amazing job. Big Earthbound fan had it on cartridge and the player's guide thanks for bringing back fond memories.

I've been following you... not quite from the start, but I did watch all your older LPs once I discovered your challenge, so I remember your first playthrough and with each one, your passion for the games you play never fails to bring a smile to my face. I am always in awe of the amount of work you put into the presentation and research for your videos. Haven't watched the full thing yet, but Emile making a special note of Tony being gay seriously made my day - that and Emile confirming that he himself is on the spectrum in an earlier episode. I've been watching for 8 years and I couldn't be happier, especially knowing he's autistic just like me. Kind of a personal thing I guess, but having someone like Emile - who's kind, supportive and overall a wonderful person - to relate to with something like that makes things a bit better.

A thing that so many people complained about certain games is that you don't see the world change after you saved it. In earthbound/mother, you do, that's so special.
There is a certain game that I see all up in this game. A game that I knew was inspired by this, but WOW, the references are unreal!!!

This made for a nice epilogue. Worth sitting there collectively for an hour for. Glad to see that representation was considered back over 25 years ago even if it had to be hidden....I wonder if Jeff's attracted to boys somehow too. That'd be an interesting route to go and provide hope for Tony yet.
