2-3-25 SPECIAL REPORT: Tariff Talk

- President Trump's 25% tariffs on Canada and Mexico may be short-lived (indeed, following this morning's show, Mexico blinked, promising to send troops to the border, and Trump's tariff was suspended for 30-days). The difference between the 2017 Tariffs and now: No tax cuts in place this time around. Watch for more market volatility in the wake of tariff talks. Lance reviews the ins, outs, and possibilities of the Trump Tariffs: What is the ultimate goal? The Texas Economy vs Canada's. Will companies be able to pass along increased tariff costs to customers? Consumer choices drive the economy. Expectations for corporate earnings growth are already excessively high; what happens when tariffs take a bite? Goldman sees tariffs short-lived; JP Morgan expects more lasting, negative effects. Two outcomes possible: Price rise and consumers stop buying, or companies eat the difference. Chances for recession are back on the table. Our advice for today: Step away, and allow markets to work it through. Is this the start of a new catalyst?

It's not tariffs ON MEXICO. It's tariffs ON AMERICAN CONSUMERS.
There was a negligible amount paid by the US consumer with the original tarriffs.
@@thriftyninja0075 Read actual scientific studies instead of listening to politicians. Trump's tariffs resulted in $80 billion in new taxes on Americans over 2 years. "The largest tax increases in decades."
@@thriftyninja0075 It's literally a tax on US importers. China pays nothing.
Last year, Colombia accepted more than 120 deportation flights. You're describing complete political theater.
Exactly. Trump threatens a country, they resist, he backs off, says they agreed to do whatever, and they don't do anything different then before. Same as Mexico will pay for the wall 😂
Everything happened just like you said it would this morning! Definitely not your first rodeo!.. 😂
U.S., Mexico reach agreement to postpone tariffs by one month. My guess is Canada will also make a deal with Trump to postpone tariffs, lol.
You are 100% right I as a Canadian. I’m embarrassed. It’s a simple answer. We shouldn’t be fighting Americans we should be standing shoulder to shoulder with Americans. Period. You have no idea how painful it is having this conversation with fellow Canadians, who are brainwashed by Canadian media paid for by the government and they’re not able to see the truth.
All you need pretty much to do to see what is going on is to watch when the camera is pointed at Trump and watch his Truth Social feed. No brainwashing needed.
1. In early December Trump said he would put 25% tariffs on Canada because of border issue with fentanyl
2. Canada responded publicly on Dec 17 that it would commit to $1.3 billion to border security (a mutual benefit)
3. Trump "joked" that Canada should become 51st state on a few occasions on Truth Social
4. Trump started floating that Canada could avoid tariffs if it became 51st state on Truth Social
5. Last week Trump said that Canada had no option to avoid tariffs other than to become 51st state and would double tariff if we retaliated
6. Trump had not responded to Canada's $1.3B proposal
7. Canada announced retaliation while politicians spoke of finding new export markets as America can't be trusted any more
8. Stocks start selling off
9.. Trump had two calls with Trudeau and then announced a great new deal where he would accept $1.3B border plan and a "border czar" being named and agreeing to call cartels terrorists (cost $0).
Trump escalated, p1ssed off Canadians to the highest degree on record and got what was proposed on Dec 17.
Do your own analysis on Trump's negotiation skill.
In 30 days Canadians will have to buckle again and agree not to call the deal CUSMA rather than USMCA (or NAFTA which never really changed other than in name).
Rheem just announced a 16.7% surcharge due to the tariffs to their retailers.
Yea! Thx Lance
Apparently Trump's demand on Canada is they become the 51st state. A better approach than Putin to achieve the same outcome with Ukraine. Don't see how any country can be expected to comply with this kind of request.
The better-off Canadiens live here or Mexico 6 months a year… they spend maximum time outside Canada
If they a 51st state, no need run home and freeze 1/2 the year for free medical
Are tariffs just a way for Treasury to help the fed by removing excess LIQUIDITY from the system?
Trump 1 , Mexico 0
Rich Billionairs 1, Amercans -1
Exactly the opposite
Trump has talked about bringing jobs back. How will he do this without leaving tariffs on for the long term?
Mexico already conceeded. Incredible
You mean Trump folded 😂
It’s all theater. They demonstrate some effort. What does Trump actually want to not reimpose the tariffs in 30 days? Who knows.
I get what you are saying…but Canada’s border is not the same as Mexico’s.
What is your point? They are both porous, and on the other side is a government that is not supporting out interests
Don't take the cheese.
Twice the intro music too!
Is Trump worse than Trudeau?
