The Presidential Initiative on Banana Industrial Development project in Bushenyi District, a project was established in 2005, with a view of developing research on banana value addition. However according to observers, nearly 20 years later, there is little to show for the billions spent on the project, which has led to calls by some people especially parliamentarians to stop the funding. Farmers are also complaining about price fluctuations and the scourge of middlemen.
