I'm holding out for whatever blackmagic bring out next. They've got a better track record for giving indie shooters what they want. Raw, internal ND's, high framerates, SDI, dynamic range, colour workflow, and all for £5/6k. What I'm seeing from kinefinity is an Apple style lineup, where they drip feed features as the price goes up. They could have easily put internal ND's in these cameras, but they want you to buy the EDGE, but the EDGE is too pricey for what you get. You've got to imagine BM has a cube camera just around the corner.
People have been asking for a cube camera like this from Blackmagic for years. But they haven’t made one. I’m not quite sure why! I’d love to see one and I’m sure we would sell huge amounts of them if they got it right.
@@carlyates2487 Wonder if raw licensing issue? Since red always made cube camera and hold the internal raw recording license worldwide for any camera. Perhaps BM has license it but not for a cube shaped camera, maybe that's why all of their camera are oddly shaped. Think i've figured it out.
I've watched Kinefinity closely and as interested as I am, I still can't bring myself to buy one since it's not really an industry standard brand. If you're an indie shooter, that's fine. But if you ever work with bigger commercial clients, they will often have specific camera requirements from other brands such as Sony, RED and Arri.
@@carlyates2487 True. Although, I've noticed Kinefinity is more popular in European markets. Meanwhile, it doesn't have a significant foothold in the US.
Thanks for this! Does it have the ability to control the settings via a wheel on the handgrip like the Mavo LF or have they got rid of that on the mkII? They don’t have it on the edge and you can only control settings on the left side of the camera or via the touch screen. This makes it way less usable for a single shooter trying to do handheld work. I use the Mavo LF for doc work, being able to adjust settings by moving my right thumb on the handgrip whilst keeping my left hand on the lens to pull focus is essential for this type of shooting. Please ask your contacts at kinifinity to bring back the wheel on the handgrip. Without it handheld shooters are at a huge disadvantage. It’s kind of mind blowing they have removed it considering run and gun style shooters could be a huge market for them at a price point like this.
I completely agree. It's not a problem if you are rigging the camera up of course. But for a lightweight handheld set-up I do really miss the handgrip with controls. We normally recommend customers add a wooden handgrip like the smallrig one, but an official one with controls would be better
Quite possibly! It would be very interesting if it is as the X-H2s is a real powerhouse in image quality. That sensor in a cinema style body like this would be fantastic.
For me personally that would actually be a bonus, as reviewers have found Fujifilm’s “14-stops of DR” claim to actually be somewhat true. The latitude tests for the Fuji 6k sensor have also been really good for its price point.
@@PopTartHeavenWho were the reviewers claiming it was 14 stops ? It’s 11.9 stops according to cine d. The only company who has claimed real dynamic range numbers is Arri
I like the new pricing but I am holding off on my thoughts until I see some proof that they fixed the horrible sensor, dynamic range, and rolling shutter. Also, they need some type of Raw output. Maybe allow Blackmagic BRAW on their monitor output.

@@Justin_Allen Well there are several different sensors here. The MAVO S35 uses a completely new sensor for Kine. The LF uses the same sensor as the MAVO 6K which that video from Gerald was on. And the MAVO 8K has a different sensor again.
Agreed, the price vs the quality of image is problematic, particularly as they do not have a decent output format (prores is not a decent enough output for this price range), glad they have ssd recording, but then I can buy bmpcc4k or sigma fp with that. If they can compete with Blackmagic at the same price point I will be interested, particulalry with a decent video lf sensor. But until then not so much.

Wow, thanks for your insights, how could they bring that wheel back to mavo lf 2? Dose this wheel available on edge 6k?
Hey Carl, does the LF Mark 2 come with the original OLPF or the OLPF FF3 as standard? Cheers.
How's the rolling shutter on the 35? If it's around 11 ish then Im buying. Do you have the figures yet?
