There's very little dedicated logic upgrades for RT in RDNA3. A bunch of new memory instructions that optimize BVH traversal in the local shared memory and (supposedly) higher ray intersection rate. Every other improvement in this generation is more or less general purpose -- larger/faster caches, more registers, wider ALUs and so on. Even the Infinity Cache improvements are not a clear cut. The 7800XT has half the size, compared to 6800/6900 series, measurably higher bandwidth, but tangibly worse latency. I'd either go with one of the 7900xt or xtx cards, or a 6800xt or 7800xt, the 6950xt just uses too much power and is too close in price to the 7900xt to be worth going with.
Just depends on whats important to you and what your setup is. Perf/watts go 7800XT. Raw power, no power issues go 6950XT. Will serve me till next gen.
What about MPT? You can buy 6800XT put it on the watercooled or change manufacter thermal greease on liquid metal for overclock via More Power Tool to 2600 for gpu and 2150 for memory. First RDNA4 gpu planned for spring and RDNA5 flahship on the end of 2024.
Who cares? Let's put it this way....if this card had the same relative performance as a 7900xt snd they still charged the same price. Do you really care if it's a Navi 32 or is it simply a good performing card and worth the money? Well, in this case it performs more like a 6900xt definitely not as good as a 7900xt but it's definitely worth the money for the performance you get. The 6900xt cost 999.00 at release and last year it was still sitting at 680.00
The production value of this video is good, well done. That being said 6900xt for anywhere close to $500? Not seeing it. Should have been a 6900xt vs 7900XT, more apples to apples to compare two 900 series cards from two generations. If anything this is a good show for the 7800xt which keeps up with what was a $1k card at the $500 price point while consuming less power. Also, 3900X cpu? Pretty sure we are seeing a bottleneck, time to upgrade the cpu to an X3D model.
Of course there is! 6900XT and 6950XT is basically the same card with 6950 only having faster VRAM. The 7900XTX is a lot better than 7800XT in basically everything- more VRAM, more CUs, more ROPs and TMUs
Holy CPU Bottleneck, seeing the GPU using 99% does not necessarily means it is actually 99%, there are some internal components like bandwidth usage and shaders that won't show 100% utilization as its very low end hardware that needs compiler analizing for that. Even today a 6900XT can show gains with a 7800X3D vs a 5800X3D, let alone a 3900X which barely faster gaming wise than the 2700X.

I had 3900x and upgraded to 5800X3D, 3900x was bottlenecking at 1440p. 50%+ load on CPU in games means it's close to max stable performance in terms of micro stuttering. I got this issue fixed by 5800X3D, wanted to upgrade to 5950X, but since I use PC mainly for gaming, I got 5800X3D for no need to add additional radiator to water loop.
Both are valid points these tests are in 4k, essentially the rt ones as that increases the gpu load past the cpu limit. 1080p non rt would show a cpu bottleneck depending on workload. I think a 5800x3d is about 25-30% faster most cases. Instead try hooking up GPUBusy into overlay to show directly the balance of workloads. Loved the video keep up the grind brother 💪

No disrespect but I feel you didn’t pay attention to the stats
@@HardwareLabyour pc specifications brother?
RX 6950 XT: just exist.
Its like rx6900xt but with faster vram and oc
No watt.... Why?
Nice video but... show the power usage for next time, you mentioned at least 10 times and doesn´t put it in your video! 🤦♂
I am proud with my RX 6900XT
In my country, the 6900XT costs $130 cheaper than the 7800XT, which one should I buy?
@@VeteranSSVahramey 6900xt
hi all i was thinking of going with the xfx rx6950 xt but im not sure weather or not to go with the rx7800 xt as this card is rdna 3 as a pose to rdna 2 for the 6950 cos im thinking that over time the 7800 will serpass the 6950 over time with software upgrades so longgevity wise it would be the logical choise however on the other hand getting the 6950 would mean id have the peek of the second gen card witch is nice to know as is the best vershion of its generation this is something i am torn over and would really apprishiate any and all thouts regarding this matter thx . ps. thx for this vidio man very imformative great channel bro :)
Get the 6950xt if its around the same price, it is 10% better in raw rasterization performance but consumes more power.
Spend the extra hundred bucks and go with a 7900xt. Any of them are going to be fantastic especially if you're coming from something older though.
i think in the long run it will be a better card with software updates and its gen 3 as a pose to gen 2 so more fuchure proof aswell i gues yee thx for the feedback dude
@@PineyJustice both SICK cards and very sexy to boot :)
@@timothydavies5337 Thing is, the 6950xt uses a lot more power, power monitoring changed between 6000 and 7000, with 6000 only reporting core power while 7000 reports full card power. A 6950xt at 325w is actually using as much or more power than a 400w 7900xtx, so the efficiency gains are not as small as you think just looking at the numbers.
I have a 6950XT on water, OC and tuned with MPT and I hit 2900mhz core 2410mhz mem(in game sit @ 2850-2875 core) and sucks down 500w. But I put up 7900XT numbers in games and benchmarks. Will serve me till next gen.
Next time AI would run benchmarks too.
Well, parity in RT means the new RT chips are a decent chunk better than before.
Yes, but their improved is almost on par with the improvement done on the rest of the CUs. That’s why I said I hoped for more
@@HardwareLab fair enough.
What about MPT? You can buy 6800XT put it on the watercooled or change manufacter thermal greease on liquid metal for overclock via More Power Tool to 2600 for gpu and 2150 for memory. Such a modified card will be faster then 7800XT and cheaper.
7800XT is successor to 6700XT, because it have a lower class chip Navi 32. While all card in previuos gen line have flagship silicon Navi 21 in all beginning with 6800 non XT.
And most important according to insiders, chips for 7800XT sat in warehouses for six months waiting for the previous gen gpu to sell out. So this gpu's already out late.
The 6900xt cost 999.00 at release and last year it was still sitting at 680.00
I do that on a stock 2 year old MSI Gaming X Trio 6800xt.
@@kramnull8962 the fact that 6800xt is getting praised in a video about 6900xt vs. 7800xt should tell us how GOATED 6800xt really is.
No they aren't is the short answer. But if the 7800XT was compared to the 6800XT it would be an even more different conversation.
What do you mean no? They perform about identically in the tests they ran.
At least in the UK, they have around the same price (6900xt and 7800xt), don’t know about the us and other continents
But thanks for the feedback :)
Nope 6900xt is strong have better memory bandwidth more core shader
In my country, the 6900XT costs $130 cheaper than the 7800XT, which one should I buy?
Will 7800XT be bottlenecked by a 5700X? Don't recommend a Zen4 processor because I've already bought a mobo.
Depends on the games, settings, resolution etc.
I noticed a difference between my 6950xt and 7900xtx that's for sure
Of course there is! 6900XT and 6950XT is basically the same card with 6950 only having faster VRAM. The 7900XTX is a lot better than 7800XT in basically everything- more VRAM, more CUs, more ROPs and TMUs
AMD actually gimped up the 6xxx drivers the week that the 7800xt released. Thanks AMD for trying to pull wool over peoples eyes.
You can oc the 7800xt for more perf
As well as 6900xt
Holy CPU Bottleneck, seeing the GPU using 99% does not necessarily means it is actually 99%, there are some internal components like bandwidth usage and shaders that won't show 100% utilization as its very low end hardware that needs compiler analizing for that. Even today a 6900XT can show gains with a 7800X3D vs a 5800X3D, let alone a 3900X which barely faster gaming wise than the 2700X.

@@HardwareLab Still it's a mediocre CPU. Even a 5800X can be a bottleneck and this video is a terrible example of a review.
@@evolucion888 didn’t you check the video? Even 3600 is more than enough in some scenarios. And in this review we are gpu limited. Terrible example of a comment…
@@HardwareLab Wrong again, the CPU scaling with gains with Zen 3 are phenomenal. No wonder why you have so little subscribers with all that misleading data.

I call BS.... Generic Benchmarks are worthless... proved that a long time ago with the gtx770 and the equivalent AMD card generic bench said the 770 was faster.. BUT in the real world running them on 2 of the same systems... the AMD wiped the floor with the 770.. so ya.. I do NOT see generic bench marks as accurate at all... THEY LIE!! Nvidia was strong arming reviewers with threats .. so NOPE
In new games 7800xt starts to shows its advantages and it will only be better with new drivers,,
They are close because of the weak cpu
SAME PRICE SO GO FOR 7800
Guys stop arguing about the CPU. At 4k, the GPU is 99% of the performance...
99% load*, for most cards and games you don’t usually see 100%, more of 96-99% with whatever cpu
I wont trade my 6900XT Liquid Devil to anything on 5120x1440p resolution yet it does not have at least 50% more performance.

First upgrade your ancient 3900x
Don’t see a problem with it, suits my need more than good still 🫤
@@HardwareLab the 3900x serious bottleneck that setup, even if you try to compare the 7800xt vs 4090 will will get the same results
@@chrisducati26 do you know what gpu load stands for?
@@chrisducati26 why not a 100% faster?
Both are valid points these tests are in 4k, essentially the rt ones as that increases the gpu load past the cpu limit. 1080p non rt would show a cpu bottleneck depending on workload. I think a 5800x3d is about 25-30% faster most cases.
Instead try hooking up GPUBusy into overlay to show directly the balance of workloads.
Loved the video keep up the grind brother 💪
I think all in all the 7800xt may lose a lil bit or performance, but it sure seems that the textures are a lot more vivid with it in most titles.
There’s no visual difference
my 4070ti super slaps them both.
6900 is faster. And better oc
7800xt wins IMHO. Newer, more power efficient will have longer driver support.
Plus, since you are likely to buy it new, it should have less wear and tear
AI voice sounds like he has a cold. So not good enough yet
Most of AMDs gpu need driver updates to perform better just give it some time and the difference will be displayed

My 4090 eats both cards for lunch lol
And costs a lot more, of course
Do you think your 3900X is bottle necking the 7800XT and 6900XT?.
Maybe you should get a 7700X + AM5 mobo + DDR5 RAM.
Maybe I need 7800X3D with rog strix x670 mobo and 7200MHz DDR5 to do a simple gpu test?
@@HardwareLab - Yes that would be a good idea as AM5 and DDR5 are much cheaper now compared to one year ago, although 7200MHz DDR5 will be very expensive. Originally, Ryzen 7000 series was rated only for 5200MHz but after numerous AGESA updates, this has now increased. The best frequency RAM to use is 6000MHz. See statement from corsair DIY builder -
"What is the Recommended DDR5 RAM Speed for Ryzen 7000 Series?.
While Ryzen 7000 Series processors support a wide range of DDR5 speeds, an ideal choice would be a kit of RAM rated for 6000MHz (6000 MT/s) per AMD's official recommendation".
@@HardwareLab - Also, do not forget to enable resize bar on your gfx card and in the mobo BIOS.
