Black & White Fog Photography on Film l Kentmere 400 Medium Format 120 Film l Mamiya 645

- A day of moody fog photography is the best use of black and white film I can think of! Gloomy days offer an excellent pallet for any kind of black and white shooting. Regardless of whether you using digital or film, a day of mood photography is always good for the soul!
For this outing, I chose Kentmere 400 speed medium format film in my Mamiya M645 camera with an incredibly sharp 55-110mm Mamiya C zoom lens. I hand-developed the film in Cinestill DF96 Monobath developer (no fixer needed).

There may be some sacrifice in development quality of the negatives (I haven't seen it or don't know the difference apparently), but I wasn't necessarily getting the best results out of my Kodak HC-110 with fixer before using the DF96. At about $1 per roll, it's monobath developing for me now, and in the future.
All images scanned on my Epson v600 scanner, producing tif files straight from the scanner. I do not use Negative Lab Pro for black and white photos, only color images. Again, I was extremely satisfied with the photos, and plan to shoot a lot more Kentmere in the future.

Excellent shots Jason, I've never used that film but I must say it looks great.
thanks! The most difficult thing about film photography is accepting it's not 'perfect'! But it's so creative, and so much more rewarding than digital. But it's best to understand and learn on digital, then go to film to advance your inner need to grow! I highly recommend it!
