Man, I swear this is my new favorite RC channel. Watching a bunch of bashing is fun, but sometimes I like a real good breakdown like he does. Also helps that my reintroduction into RC again was with Arrma and the Big Rock a few years ago, and I just bought the v3. So I have 2 Big Rocks along with a few other rigs my son and I share.
This is a great vid, very helpful to those trying to figure out what things to consider when either buying a first RC or even an additional RC . Some really great thoughts. Nice job 👍
This video is spot on for me. I want a 3s for similar reasons. It will be my only car and I’m putting in a pump track for my kids and their bikes. Doubling up as an RC track will be an added bonus. Thanks for sharing your insight!
Cool! I just made a most on Facebook Groups about the "purpose" or "use" of the Senton. Good responses from the community. It had confused me at first but maybe b/c I just didn't understand shortcourse trucks, but I'm starting to. My initial reaction to the car was that although it had a low center of gravity, it wasn't wide enough and tires weren't big enough for stable driving like the Typhon. It also didn't have the clearance of a monster truck to do offroad. It was in the middle as if it fell short in the benefits of a buggy and monster truck. But now I've learned that the shortcourse is more for racing and speed, but can still bash. The small tires and light weight seem to be a contribution to it having lasting durability. The only issue people seem to have with it as far as style of car is that it tends to "parachute" at high speeds causing it to flip.
If it's your first RC, I highly recommend a 1/16 scale which will be more durable and reliable. Specifically the HBX 16889A Pro for $100 on ebay or the MJX 16208 from Aliexpress. You'll have a lot more running time as opposed to stuff breaking on the Arrma cars. The most reliable Arrma was one I built as a 2S topping out at roughly 30mph. It costs as much or more than a 3S BLX though.
My local shop recommends Traxxas as a first rc we do have some 1/16 we are learning to drive now. Nothing special but getting our feet wet. When we get a 3s it would be run at 50% or training mode the Hoss was too fast for us at full speed.
@@thomasstevens4622 Traxxas has a decent sized following, but I don't like the guys behind the company. I can't stand by a company that is arrogant enough to sue HBO for the use of the word Max in HBO Max. That's just ridiculous. Traxxas is also way overpriced. Get ready to be around a lot of arrogant heads in the Traxxas community. I got a sense that a lot of them feel that they're somehow better because they spent more on stuff. Not a clan I'd want to join. Of course that is a complete generality, but that's the sense I've gotten over the years. The hobby shop is likely recommending Traxxas for two reasons. 1) They're more expensive and they get more out of it. 2) They supply tons of parts for it so you'll be back to get more from them. I support LHS, but just be aware of their agenda.
Haha. Yeah I’m far from it. Just a dad trying to entertain himself and kids. Figured I’d share what I’ve learned thinking others might be in the same boat.
Awesome! Glad you enjoyed it. I've watched your instructional videos at least 3x! At various speeds too! haha. I have it playing as I'm changing out my diffs.

Cool! Hpi RS4pro2. I was in way over my head. Spent $700 on it after batteries, charger, components. I wish I had stuff like the Haiboxing 16889 for $70-90 back then. Would’ve been more than enough.
Oh man I remember that car with all its juicy carbon fiber. Bro tell me about it. You can get a brushless ESC for under $20 BNIB now. I remember when a Novak Tempest cost over $100 and it didn't even have reverse 😂
@@victorlapy9278 wow to remember that, you definitely have been in the scene awhile back ago. Yeah, my RS4 Pro 2 originally did not have reverse. They guy at the shop told me the forward only ones go faster and the limit of only going forward would “teach” me to drive better. I suppose, but I soon did replace the motor with one that goes in reverse because like duh. Haha.
The BigRock is a great choice and a really good basher, durable as well, my only complaint with the BigRock is the stock tires, they are too thin and when your really ripping around it traction rolls like crazy other than that it’s a beast! The Typhon is a monster truck disguised as a buggy, just as durable and can handle the ramp, good video Subbed 👍
I'm used to much smaller rigs like 1/16 scale, so I've gotten used to how to handle cars such that they don't flip over as much. Figured the long wheel base would help over the Granite in that regard. I think you mean that the Big Rock tires are too narrow right? not thin, meaning profile. I've been tossing and turning about The Typhon vs the Senton and leaning towards the Typhon for my next one. I just need two for the track. Still enjoying the Big Rock though.
@@Funcentric yeah narrow sorry lol hey by the way if your into smaller Rc’s may I suggest the mini e revo not sure if you have tried that one but it’s a beast! I have the brushless version and on 3s it’s super fast!

Great talking points on this truck. This is the 1st RC I have purchased. My biggest complaint is it doesn’t handle cornering well and rolls way to easy. I’ve seen guys change out to bigger tires? Probably look into tire and shock upgrades to see how that helps? I am happy with my purchase though and would recommend it.
