After you create the org chart, you can ungroup all elements (Guess you have to ungroup 2 times)..Now you can select individual lines and change their outline format.

To be more honest, I haven't tried it for 38 stages but i think it should still work provided if you maintain the hierarchy.

Yes i agree, if your org chart has more text content then you must design custom org chart based on requirement. This will not fit. 🙂
