Maybe you can help... I want to build a 7 Saum. Trying to figure out why freebore I’m going to use.. plan on running the 183 SMK also. Any thoughts? I want to put the bearing surface/boat tail junction at the shoulder/neck junction though.
Those tract scopes have 100 moa of internal adjustment so you should have that on a 50 moa base instead of a 30 then your Ivy mount that way you get your full 100
Whyd you go ivey base vs a Charlie tarac. Probably not a problem on a 7mag, but I've heard people having issues with adjustable bases shifting under heavy recoil, like 375 edge and the like.
H1000 is a great powder.. Under rated I believe.. I'm crushing 2000 yards with. 300WM and 220gr Sierra HPBT.. And this is using a Discovery optics no name brand scope with 30x glass.. I'm a baller on a budget. I'm 48gr of H1000.
Nice rig. I have the waters rifleman adjustable scope base I’m excited to try out. I have it on my custom.308. I have the razor hd 5-20 on 60 moa base which gives me 118 moa out of the scope plus 240 with base. I took it out to 1760 easy I’m taking out to 2500 and I’ll try and get it on video
What twist rate have you gone for in that barell? I'm thinking of a similar build for a 7mmSAUM based on a Tikka action. I want to shoot 1000yards+ with Berger hybrids 184grain. Any advice based on Tikka actions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
@@WestDesertShooter yep, I have a magnum boltface. I'm going for a 26" barell. Have you ever thought about 1in7 twist for heavier 184hybrids? Would that work?
Give the 190 Atips a shot they will gain you some elevation, I’m running them out of my 7mag at 2955. Pricey but for those distances it’s worth it for the BC.
I have ran them in 3 diff 7 SAUMs and found that they just don't hold together out passed 1200.. Loads printing in the .2 minute range at a 100 and shooting sub .75 minute at a 1000y just totally falling apart at 1300 to 1400y The A tips are interesting but they aren't projectiles that hold together for ELR. They do shoot very well at a 1000y there is no doubt about it AND I found a lot of diff loads shot extremely well in 2 out of the 3 guns. Getting .25 minute 5 shot groups at a 100y was easy and the vast majority of loads I built up during load dev would happily shoot .25 or better
Lacy Desires that’s definitely interesting my farthest shot was at 1800 with them they were almost spot on with my Kestrel maybe I just got lucky. Running 2960 in a 1:8 twist 7 RM
@Lacy Desires Interesting opinion on the A-Tips. I saw a couple videos where they performed perfectly at well over 2000 yds. I wonder why they didn’t work for you.
Understandable. If you find a magnum tikka action vs 308 the only difference is they opened it up. The rest is the same. And there is not outward pressure on the head of the brass.
@@WestDesertShooter just a pity that it is nearly imposiible to f9nd just a bolt or bolt body. Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions! I appreciate it
Tract Optics are great! Nice rifle!
Crazy far man. I've only shot my saum out to 2000 but I feel like 2500 is more then achievable. 3000 is going to be interesting. 🤟
Can't wait to see how you do man. 👍👍
Logan do you have a video pn your build for your prs rifle. Thanks tom
Thats a crazy setup bro! But, can it run Crysis?
That is the funniest shit I’ve read today.
@Louis Utsch haha watched the same, before this one.
Very cool!
Let's see this thing in action!

Nice set up Logan!
Greg from Fresno
Mmmm the subtle machined texture.
Thanks for watching buddy
Been thinking of building a saum have a 300wsm t3 trying to decide on barrel and length....
Is tikka better than Bergara ? I’ll be more hunting and shooting for fun but want a good rifle.
Bergara is just a Remington 700 receiver if my I’m not mistaken

I have a 1:8, I’d suggest starting with a 7 Rem mag or 300 wm action

Any leads on some 7 saum brass
Nice rig. What is the supersonic range of that setup? 2200?
Yep, right around there

Who opened the boltface up for you?
Also, any mods to the ejector?
Extractor and ejecector are standard. Local dude helped me on the bolt. His own shop kinda thing
@@WestDesertShooter not too hard then? Alot of gunsmiths are not at all keen on opening the boltface up

Jason Bourne says he is looking for you 😉
👍
Footage of 3000 yard shooting???.....
Well done Logan. Hope all is well with you and yours.
Thanks guys! Oh yeah that’s the next video! It’s gonna be pretty brief so I made this video to answer peoples questions
The ammo case fell out of the truck "multiple times" you need more than a better ammo case.
Lol, I was thinking the same thing. 👍🤷♂️🤔🤯
It was in the backseat. It fell out when I’d open the door. I guess it sounded like I Yeeted that bitch out the back haha
@@WestDesertShooter I like your vids that statement sounded really lame
Came here to be outside looking at 3000 yard groups. Straight to the closet
Next video is for you bud
Sound quality is awful.
BS on your story. I’m out
What story is that?
