The worst game I loved this year (Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising Review)

- In this spoiler free review, I give my impressions of the action RPG "Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising", the companion game to the upcoming "Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes" - the spiritual successor to the Suikoden series.
Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising lacks polish, has a serious problem with pacing, and the game’s combat can sometimes feel very frustrating. But once I got past the early stages, I found it to be extremely addictive. And in the end, the game did exactly what I was hoping it would.

Love your content! Keep up the great work.
Thanks Will! Appreciate your support as always :)
I’m a huge Suikoden nerd and an enthusiastic supporter of the Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes project, so of course I had to squeeze in a review of the new companion game/prequel, “Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising”!
I’d love to hear what you think of the video (and the game, if you played it!) As always, thanks for supporting me! :)
PS. I made a video about the Hundred Heroes kickstarter a couple of years ago. Feels like a blast from the past now!

Right there with you man, love the suikoden games and I can't wait for Eiyuden Chronicle hundred heroes, great video didn't know much about this prequel game.
@@Omnicloudx13 Thanks! I'm looking forward to featuring Hundred Heroes on this channel sometime next year :D
Interesting analysis! I'm looking forward to the proper release of Eiyuden Chronicle Hundred Heroes though.
Me too! :)
I tried this game out because it was on GamePass and I played for about half an hour before I uninstalled it. But then I kept thinking about it the next day so I downloaded it again and gave it another chance and I'm glad I did. I had quite a bit of fun playing through this game, though I never finished it (my GP sub expired). The back and forth with town got a little tedious, like you said, but doing all of the side quests kept you at a decent strength to progress. I did check out a bit when I got my third stamp card... so many quests!
Thanks for sharing! It’s definitely a very flawed game, but somehow I ended up having a ton of fun with it anyway…

I vaguely remember that being the plot of Tomb of Horrors... maybe.
Edit: No it isn't. But it does sound like a D&D module.
It would definitely make a great D&D campaign setup! :)
I'm interested in this game because I'm interested in Hundred Heroes, but I'm not particularly fond of side scrolling action games. But the true turn off for me, the reason I will never play this game, is that the flat appearance of the characters and the paper doll animations just look awful!
It's definitely a polarizing art style! For myself, I kind of like it, especially if the alternative is some sort of super basic 3D models...
