      How exciting! Doing practice interviews with different mentors and family helped me prepare for interviews. You'll do great. Best of luck!

    This was sooo helpful!! I’m trying to become a certified nurse midwife and to do that I have to work on a LD unit for a while and gain experience after college and this really helped me make a plan for how to go about doing that. Thank you so much! :)

    Thank you so much for making this video! I am in an accelerated BSN program and I’m nearly halfway done and know with certainty that I would love to become an L&D nurse. I will definitely be taking these tips and putting them into action!

      I'm also in an accelerated BSN program, and hoping to get into L&D. I actually start my OB clinicals next week so I'm super excited. I've heard so many say how hard that is as a new grad. I graduate in December. This video definitely gives me hope

    I think another great thing to get you into labor and delivery is applying to teaching hospitals. I find them more willing to take on new grads and really precept you into the L&D environment. I am not a new nurse, but specialize in other areas of nursing and I found it hard to get into L&D until I applied to a teaching hospital.

    • @NurseAggz
      @NurseAggz  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Very true! Teaching hospitals are a great starting point for L&D nursing and nursing in general.

    Hi! I'd love to hear how you're doing at work. I've been an Oncology nurse for 8 years and I recently just got a job as a L&D nurse at a facility that is offering a program for experienced nurses wanting to switch specialties. In nursing school, L&D was my interest, but I ended up in Oncology which has given me great experience. I will say though that I've been in L&D training for about 5 weeks and it's been very challenging!!! I know I'm being hard on myself but I'm so used to knowing what I'm doing! Lol. Do you have any tips or advice? How has it been going? Thanks for any feedback!!

    • @NurseAggz
      @NurseAggz  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      it's been SO challenging, but definitely getting better. luckily, i have a lot of support on my floor so I am never alone which is good. The best advice I can give is to always ask questions if you're unsure about anything. Even though I'm off orientation I am always asking questions to double check... triple check or if I just don't understand the "why" to certain practices. Also, I try to be in the pt's room when the provider goes in...great learning opportunity!
      Hope things are going well with you!

    Super helpful tips! :) I am a nursing student doing my final semester in the postpartum unit and am hoping to get hired somewhere in maternity out of college.. I looked up AWHONN and checked out their site and saw that you need a membership!! Do you recommend the student membership considering that you have to pay for it? Thank you!!

    • @NurseAggz
      @NurseAggz  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ZumbaBossMichelle when I was a student I hadn’t purchased membership. I simply went to one of there meetings and they welcomed me! If you’re interested in being active in AWHONN as a student and want access to their online resources then you may want to purchase membership! Hope this helps ☺️

    What's an A1 meeting and how do you find them?

    • @NurseAggz
      @NurseAggz  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      AWHONN (Association of Women's Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nursing) check out their website, awhonn.org, and search for your city's local chapter to learn about meetings. Good luck!
